The hotel is very nice, relatively modern, nice staff and well located

This was a pleasant surprise. I was very impressed with the size of the room considering it was in NYC. The TV was excellent with HD and a very good size. You can't go wrong here... one negative was one of the staff memebers was pretty unfriendly and seemed annoyed when I asked about the internet service.

Hotel is old and so are the furnishings in the room. Staff aren't friendly and are abrasive. Location isn't the most convenient... Closest subway is at Grand Central. Room was quite small. So small the bathroom needed to have a sliding door bc there was the bed just on the opposite side and no room for a door to swing either way. Also the "facilities fee" tacked on each night is ridiculous. They are making you pay for the internet and the "free" $10 a night snack. $25 each night with $2.22 sales tax additional charge each night billed to you when you leave. With that I would have gone to somewhere nicer. Also there are only 2 elevators meaning it takes forever to get up and down during peak hours. Never going back. Book somewhere else!

Good location and customer service. Wasn't a fan of having the snack bar by the reception/lobby rather than a mini bar in the room.

The suite was quite spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfortable as well. I didn't care for the community shower products. I'd recommend bringing your own shower gel, lotion, etc. the TVs were large and thoughtfully situated so as not to be too loud in either room. Overall it was a good stay.

A comfortable small hotel in mid town , NY. Prices are reasonable.

Staff was friendly. Great room with mini fridge. Tasty restaurant.

The staff was wonderful. The décor is cool and vibrant. The manager's wine reception was definitely a nice surprise. I don't like to stay in Times Square - it's way too busy. So, this location was great.

The staff was very nice upon check in. While not deluxe, the room was spacious (for New York), clean and quiet. We enjoyed the 5 - 6 pm happy hour.

Hotel was nice and clean. Beds were comfy. The area is quiet at night and very centrally located. Front desk staff was not super personable but they were helpful and cooperative enough. They extended our check out till 1:00 pm with no questions asked, which was nice. Overall experience was very nice. We would definitely stay here again!

My granddaughter accompanied me for a wonderful visit to NYC / stay at the hotel. I would come back again and again. Thank you ORBITZ! Hilda Thomasson

We arrived very late after long flight delays, we were tired and a bit cranky but the staff that checked us in were so professional and welcoming we forgot all about the delays.

I live in the neighborhood and thought it would be a perfect location for my parents/relative to stay. The rooms are large for Manhattan and look modern. However, I must advise you to expect low service and less nice rooms than what you see in the photos. First night, we had to deal with a huge cockroach in our room... The refrigerator had a drink from previous guest. We got disgusted and asked to change room in the middle of the night. Unfortunately the new room was also covered with dust. Second day, as we did not get much sleep, we stayed in and asked the maid to change towels. He took all towels yet only gave us bath towels. Did we need to be that precise and specify which kinds of towels we had the night before? Questionable service... Third day, we were out all day long, came back at 8:30pm, yet beds are not made, rooms are not cleaned. I complained and the manager told me that guest service left a voice message that if we wanted the rooms to be cleaned, we should have called them. Not to mention, we did not hang "do not disturb". Then the manager gave excuses and offered free breakfast. Uncomfortableness > one free breakfast. After the stay here, we moved to The Ritz Carlton paying similar range. They came to our room a couple times a day to make beds, change towels and made sure we were comfortable. Isn't this what is called hotel service? Considering room cleanliness, guest service and manager's attitude, this place is not a 4-star hotel. More like a 2-star.

Great location. Large comfy rooms. Many great Windows with amazing views! Want to go back!

The room was just ok. There was nothing really great about it. Didn't check our valet ticket and realized it was AT LEAST a half hour to get your car back, just an fyi

The Shelburn is a nice hotel on the East Side of Manhattan. It's within walking distance of many NYC destinations and a short cab ride away from others. The staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel was clean and comfortable. It's not a luxury hotel, but it certainly is a nice place to stay at an affordable price.

This is a great hotel, reasonably priced in a great location. Except for a few small snags; no robe until called for, no Breakfast delivered despite ordering the night before..., This hotel was a great choice for my 14 year old son and myself. The suite had a spacious living room with a fold out couch and An equally spacious bedroom. It is located close to so many places of interest that our cab fares were Rather low when visiting the theater, the village and returning to Penn Station. I would definitely recommend this hotel to budget minded travelers.

Check in was quick and easy. We did not spend much time in the room but the entire stay was satisfactory.

Great weekend stay! perfect location in NYC- close to everything. Hotel is modern and the happy hour wine is just perfect.

This is a great hotel in NYC with the price. I stayed in other hotels in NYC. It was very noisy. The wall was too thin. The services at the hotel were surprisingly good. The restaurant at the hotel was great. The room was very clean and upgraded well. I would definitely come back to this hotel. The hotel doesn't look a typical NYC hotel. It is very nice.
