NH New York Jolly Madison Towers

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

It has been many years since we stayed at the Jolly Madison. We came in for a theater weekend and the price and location are perfect. Our first visit was in a Euro- style room with a wonderful shower and very comfortable. The stay this time was in a room many years in need of an overhaul with worn carpeting, an overworked air conditioner, and a moisture laden room. It has been a while since we stayed in a room with a 13 inch CRT TV with no local channels on the cable.

Overall experience was good, we stayed in a superior room

The staff are super friendly and the rooms are cozy. The showers need some kind of curtaining to avoid splashing all over

Location near Grand Central and K-Town is great. The room is nice enough, but for $300 a night, one would expect perfection. It's Bougie and nice enough, but, perfection, it is not. The volume control on the remote was broken. The bath tub stopper was broken. And for a purportedly up-scale place, all kinds of wear and tear all over the place (e.g. the scratches on the walls and in the elevator). The worst thing that happened to be was that they double charged me for my stay. I had booked an pre-paid for my stay via Orbitz, and when I checked out the front desk staff told me that I was "all set," but when I checked my credit card bill a few days later, I had noticed a whopping $800+ they had charged. When I called the hotel to try to talk to someone, the operator, transferred me mid-sentenced to the accountant. No, "I"m sorry for your trouble, sir, I will direct you to the accountant." The staff needs to be trained to be more courteous! The accountant turned out to be very helpful and credited me back the amount right away - she was the most helpful person at this hotel, though, if things ran perfectly, I would never have needed to interact with her.

Hotel was ok however the location was very good.

The hotel was in a great location. They included breakfast with stay, which was better than the usual. However the staff was icy and the bathroom shower was horrible. Parking avail was $55 per day through the hotel, could do better. Also if you stay past the 24 hours to the exact minute of your check in time its an additional $55. 30 min wait time to get your car as well.

The best part was the location, near Grand Central. The man who checked me in was cool. The room was nice enough especially for one night. No WiFi, but I survived. I didn't care that the TV wasn't a flatscreen. I didn't come to the city to watch television. Overall I would stay again for a reduced rate.

If you don't mind walking 4 blocks to Grand central it's a good location,I'm usually better off if a subway entrance is closer to the Hotel. For the price is a good location especially if you are there to not spend your days in the Hotel. Breakfast Buffet is pricey per person, you are better off walking outside and having breakfast somewhere else. Wifi is not free in your room.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. In this opportunity in a refurbished room. Ammenities are less than what they used to provide (one of the reasons I payed extra for the room). Nevertheless the room was small but comfortable. The bathroom was large, spotless and has great towels. internet is expensive so I gave a lower rating for ammenities. All in all I would stay again at this hotel.

Nice location Clean Room Nice staff Old building and furniture...with a renovation could be better

Great location to the subway system and access to the attractions we wanted to see. Would have liked an in-room coffee maker, which they would not supply. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Stayed there to be close to Midtown. Staff was nice and room was cleaned well.

Needs some updating. It was fine. Pricey for what you get. Small room.

I liked the location but the rest of it was not impressive. Worse is practically non-existing climate control. They maintain 80F in all the hallways and room has not means to set a temperature. Service was mediocre, male receptionist is too full of himself. I would rate this hotel below average and would not recommend to a friend.

I would recommend good buy for price special and great location, quiet, clean, good service

Good location. Three blocks to the subway. The bus stop is right next to the hotel. Bus goes straight to central park and many museums. Walking distance to Library, Morgan museum and Empire state building. Other than the tourist sites the neighborhood is kind of ugly. The room was clean showed minor signs of wear. I recommend this as long as you get a good price and are mostly interested in tourist stops, not neighborhoods such as soho. The breakfast was over priced at $25 and the food wasn't very good.

Great location. Nice room. Great weekend. Close enough to walk to most places, and quiet. Would recommend to my friends.

Good value for the money hotel! very good location! Highly recommended!!

Great value for the location. Staff is very friendly and rooms are clean.

The hotel is very out dated. Our room was dusty when we entered. It was an ok place to stay, a little pricey for the lack of updates.
