Magnuson Convention Center Hotel

If you are attending an event at the Javits Center, this hotel is extremely convenient. Otherwise, I would not recommend this hotel. And even if you are, there are other hotels just slightly farther away that would be better options. The lobby is very small but renovated. If you are storing luggage it is kept out in the open in the lobby because there is no storage closet. The breakfast served in the lobby was very good. The rooms and size of the hotel are the problems. The hotel is so small that the rooms are centered off a tiny hallway. I could literally unlock my door from inside the elevator. If even one person is in the hall talking you hear it as if they were in your room. Forget housekeeping in the morning. You might as well get up as soon as they show up in the hall. The walls are paper thin. I was in my friends room next to mine and heard my cell phone ringing from my room! The rooms were fairly clean however after cleaning there were still hairs in the tub and around the sink. However, it was the carpet that I could not get over. It was filthly. That is my biggest problem here. I did not have socks with me and having to walk on in bare feet was gross. The last big issue is the train that goes by right outside the window and blows its horn night and day. I cannot recommend this hotel and I am really not a picky hotel guest. If they renovated the rooms it might be ok but they can't fix the soundproofing or the train. If you're at the Javits you have other choices.

picked hotel because it is very convenient, free brkft , free WiFi. clean

The hotel itself it's pretty small unlike the pictures we saw before booking! The hotel staff is all super nice and willing to help you out if you need! The complimentary breakfast and wifi are also a nice add on! However the location is not great, you're about a 5 minute walk to the subway which will take you anywhere you need to be. The walk home at nice was a little scary considering it was just us three girls walking around. The hotel is located near the stables where they keep the horses for the carriage rides and also near a gentlemens club, and a taxi service repair. Needless to say, the walking around this area was not ideal for us. The hotel room was quite small (as we imagined it would be) the air/heat worked well, and so did the hot water. We had a problem with our tub draining which made it kind of hard to shower (unless you're okay with standing in your own bath water the entire time) the bathroom had two outlets and does have a hair dryer included. The room itself did not have many outlets though which made charging our phones (or doing anything else) kind of difficult! They did offer to call us a car for the airport the day we left though (50$ flat rate to la guardia - plus tip) however we chose to call an uber instead! They do have someone that sits in the lobby and watches your luggage when you arrive if your room is not ready or if your flight is later in the day after checkout! Our room was ready early when we first arrived which was nice.

The hotel as very clean and comfortable. The hotel has a great staff and the breakfast was great.

After I read the reviews I was a little worried that I had picked a major sleeze. The only real complaint I have is the parking . it's $47 per day But if you move your car you have to pay that discounted rate each time you leave. The But I was wrong the staff was friendly the room was small, but hey I was only sleeping not living at this hotel... The bed was amazing. The next block up on 37th was a gem for my son and i.

Dirty. Depressing. Bed bugs. I travel to NYC twice a month for work. I have lower expectations for NYC hotel rooms, that being said this place was a new low. I had to unexpectedly stay another night in the city and everything was booked. I tired to drop off my one suitcase in the morning before I was able to check in and the front desk lady offered to leave it in the middle of the lobby. Excuse me? Instead they charged me $10 to keep in it a back room. Whatever it's NYC I can look past it. The room was just old and nasty. There wasn't a full curtain to block out the sun coming in from the window. I woke up with a bunch of itchy red bumps in my scalp. I have done the poor man's backpack through Europe, stay at cheap hostels experience... Unfortunately I know bed bug bites when I see them.

Only thing going is 5 min walking distance Center

Hotel was close to Jacob Javits center and Penn Station. Great bang for the buck. Would stay at again if in the area.

This hotel is Okay to stay for one night. There was lot of construction noises. I hope it would be resolved now. The room size is small.

Nice for a familias weekend. It Does not have free parking.

My initial reaction was that the location looked sketchy all by itself on the west side surrounded by auto shops. The rug in the lobby needed vacuuming and looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in at least a week. The lobby could really use some updated furniture to spruce it up and make it go from shabby to modern. The hotel room did not have any curtains to close, blackout curtain, which I couldn't believe and made sleeping in impossible. For a nights stay or two, not bad. You're paying for convenience, not luxury. Front desk attendant was very polished and professional. It was a pleasant and prompt check-in.

This is an older hotel with rather small rooms and nothing fancy except a lot of choices for breakfast. If you have to go to the Javitz center however, the location is great, just a short walk to and from. The neighborhood isn't much though. I had trouble with the internet and the front desk person was great coming to the room and testing it and calling the tech folks for help and it was back in minutes. There is a nice little grocery store a block away that has take out meals and plenty of other food and drink. Walking distance to a few nice restaurants too.

The location is good, but not perfect. The rooms are tiny, but comfortable. It's noisy. All that said, it's a fantastic deal and it's the best value I have seen in Manhattan hotels.

Stayed here on business...cheapest in the area but difficult to get around

Location was great, staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Mattresses and pillows were super comfortable. Hotel was very quiet which was great for getting a good night's sleep! My only complaints were that they forgot to include conditioner in the bathroom (luckily I brought my own) and the bagels in the morning were hard as rocks. They had plenty of other food to choose from though. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to others.

All could be better if the elevator had worked. Too many steps to get the room. And t would be great if the hotel had a better parking rate.

Went w my wife and two kids (17 and 13) trying to keep a budget this was affordable comp to other hotels. Min accommodations and typical breakfast available. Location was a bit inconvenient and cost to take cabs may of been better to pay more for the hotel in a closer location. Add 50.00 a day for parking. If your looking for off the beaten path no frills stay this will do.

Elevator out of order, 8 flloor to many to be up carrying pretty heavy baggage.

The rooms are so small they do not have adecuatte closet, the people helps a lot in any circumstances they give you a small bredfast

Good one clean and quiet, The hotel was fine. esp, have good breakfast and near Megbus.
