Howard Johnson Inn Jamaica JFK Airport NYC

We needed a hotel close to the airport after arriving from a long fight (Europe). The shuttle picked us promptly and the check in was fast

The bed and facilities were super comfortable. And really nice stuff

We booked this hotel because our flight was cancelled due to weather and this hotel was extremely close to JFK with free breakfast and a free shuttle. The shuttle times were inconvenient and we had to leave at 5:45am for an 8am flight and did not get to have any of the breakfast at all. The staff was super cold to us when we arrived. I know they had been dealing with a difficult customer before us but there wasn't an ounce of friendliness. When we left that morning I gave them some postcards and asked if they'd mail them for us (they were post marked and ready to go) and that too was an inconvenience. The window in our room was broken and we could hear all the noise outside and the room never cooled off properly because of this. There were stains on the sheets (like make up) and hair and dirt in the bathtub. I refused to shower in there and desperately did not want to sleep in the bed. I didn't even want any of my items touching the bed or floor. Never again.

The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was all sugar and carbs-needs a few more options like eggs, yogurt, or another protein. Great location. Quiet and safe. Clean room. Free parking. We were very satisfied.

no parking had to find parking on the street. the door screeched everytime it was opened

Don't take a room in the front by the parking area. Vehicle and people noise all night long. They need remove mold from wall paper in bathrooms. Close to JFK, not a bad crash pad.

The only thing that I found a little strange of the hotel is that the room numbers were written on a piece of paper and taped to the doors.

Last minute change in plans so I chose to stay at this hotel. Close to the airport and courtesy shuttle service.

Convenient to the airport and free shuttle service back and forth. Also relatively inexpensive. The compromise is that if you have some extra time before your flight leaves, it's about one and one half hours into the city. The best way to handle that, if you have the time and energy, is to go back to Federal Circle via the shuttle, then take the subway/train into Manhattan. But that round trip is 2-3 hours.

Only choose the hotel for parking have to park on the street

Good value when travelling however we were very wary of the area and did not really feel that comfortable after 10.00pm. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast did not really offer too many healthy choices. Room/bathroom was nice and clean, a little crowded for two persons and it was quite noisy. It would be hard for me to recommend to a friend because of the area!

It was very noisy due to , the room was next to street. Parking space was limited.

I needed to overnight at an airport hotel after 18 hours of travel, before the last leg of my journey. I chose the hotel for the price and free airport shuttle. It turned out that the hotel is under renovation. All the rooms were sub-basement level. The hotel felt cramped and airless. However, the staff were amazing. They helped me with this weird little elevator they have, to get my luggage down (and up again) to the sub-basement level. The room was fine, just what I needed. Breakfast was good, though the dining area is small and cramped and got very crowded by 8am. (Eat breakfast from 6:30-7am to avoid the crowd). I would stay at this hotel again, when they have finished renovations. So, note to self - call ahead !

It was a reasonable price. Clean convenient. Husband and I use to have a quiet night without the children

This hotel is just 2 miles from rental car facility- Federal Circle which is very convenient for those would be flying early from JFK. Rate, Service & Comfort are value for money.

Had an early morning flight and wanted to be near the airport. Very nice room. Very convenient location. Dog friendly too! Although not a large amount of parking, there's plenty of nearby street parking. Also, not a bad area.

Good price, staff, and location. Room is clean, and comfortable. I will stay there again.

We stay here everytime we need to fly out of JFK early morning. The hotel is conveniently located close to the airport with free shuttle service. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

We have stayed in many hotels around the world and this one is among the "never go back" on our list. We froze outside waiting for the free shuttle and than the shuttle bus driver argued with us about not being in waiting in the right place (how did he finally find us to pick us up)? The night clerk was surly and "dust bunnies" were behind every piece of movable furniture (we had to the move things to find an electrical outlet). Good thing they gave us two pieces of miniature soap; otherwise we both couldn't have taken a shower. Make every effort to find another option if you are staying near JFK.

This is good hotel for price close to JFK.Staff is good.
