Don't book this hotel. Not worth the stress! Hotel is filthy and falling apart. Bad location

Enjoyed my hotel stay, and staff was pleasant. Howard Johnson was peaceful and quiet, although airplanes flew up above hotel in the evening.

The staff was wonderful but the hotel needs to be renovated, rebuilt and new furniture. The room needs to be cleaned and vacuumed, especially behind the headboard area. Very difficult to sleep being able to look at the inch thick dirt that was accumulated there by your head. There is also a horrible smell through out the hotel...not sure what that smell is. . .

An old hotel that apparently Howard Johnson's corporate office forgot existed and has neglected to update. You know a room has not been properly cleaned when you find money lying on the floor when you first walk into the room! The bed linens, blankets & pillows are so old, they look like relics from the fifties. I did not know people would sleep on pillows that appear to have chunks of debris just stuffed into a pillowcase, they were so lumpy, like something out of a scary movie. Linens were extremely old. And being close to the airport you would think they would have replaced the glass in the windows to reduce the noise. Don't be fooled. You will hear every little noise outside. Disappointed at best. The man at the front desk at check in was very nice. $15 for overnight parking in an unsecured lot is ridiculous. I definitely would not recommend anyone I know to stay there.

I booked for one night, when I got there to check in they told me they had no room available.. They didn't wanna refund me after all.. I had to pay for another room in a different hotel. Worst experience ever

The toilet ran all the time after flushing. We got in late and had to leave early so we did not bother notifying the front desk. Then while in the shower, the shower curtain fell. We notified the desk of both problems when checking out. So this place needs some updating and repairs, but it will do for a few hours sleep.

Room was OK. Clean, spacious and nice furnishings. Location was terrible. Nothing within walking distance and hotel restaurant was a little bit creepy. Lobby was very dated staff was less than helpful. Transportation to/from airport was great...shuttle runs every half hour 24-hours a day.

It's okay for a two night stay, it's convenient to get there.

Ok hotel. Decent food at the hotel restaurant. Rather cold in the room in the winter.

Nice cheap hotel. Rooms were in terrific shape. Pillows are horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!! Super stiff. Much cleaner than I expected. First room they put me in had awful loud noise outside had to move to another room. Staff was very professional.

Stay was ok. Hotel needs to upgrade facility. Staff was helpful and nice.

I arrived late - midnight - the van picked me up . Staff was welcoming, even at that hour. Room key did not work, but they fixed it promptly.

This hotel is hard to find and hard to get to. If you miss the turnoff from the highway you are sunk. Also the entrance to the hotel goes through a long term parking lot for Newark Airport. You have to speak to the man in the booth to get in and out. There is no view to speak of unless you like looking at storage lots and highway overpasses. Once inside it is a pleasant and clean hotel. Everything seemed well maintained. It lives up to the standards expected at a national chain hotel. Surprisingly, the jets flying overhead were not as noisy as I expected but do expect some minor jet noise. There is nothing else close by unless you have your own vehicle and are prepared to drive a few miles. I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here due to a delayed flight. Quick check in and check out, but the staff was efficient and accommodating.

Within 5 minutes of the airport and had transportation to and airport a plus. A very friendly van driver. The hotel was fine and met my needs for an over night stay.

I had insects in my room. The towels were dirty and the place smelled bad.

Well when I first checked in the receptionist was having a personal phone call, didn't greet me or anything. All he asked was my name which I could barely understand him due to his strong accent and phone call he was having. I waited to see how long it would take before he hung up which he never did. After I grabbed my key I went upstairs to my room to change to come back down to find a quick bite to eat. There were flies in the restaurant inside the hotel, 1 staff member and I guess a cook in the kitchen. Very rude staff!! I went back upstairs to relax, pulled back the covers and there were stains all on the sheets. I immediately called down to have replaced. The guy Patel said to give him 15 mins...30 minutes went by and I called back. He indicated that he was the only one downstairs and that I could change the sheets.. I advised to him that's not my job to send someone up.. He then says well he can't and the next shift change isn't til a hour from now. Since I couldn't get any assistance or help from him I called Orbitz which whom I booked the hotel through.... To make this short I ended up checking out and going to another hotel for them to tell me my money is not refundable because I stayed longer than 2 hours or so in the hotel..... MY advice to you.... DONT EVER EVER EVER BOOK THIS NASTY HOTEL..!!!!!!!

Dirty carpets! Uncomfortable beds! Shuttle service takes forever!

the hotel was great to stay overnight. But the rooms smelt like they had been smoked in. the food was great at the restraunt highly recommend it. And the guy that serves you is so lovely and he keeps the place going

We wanted to go to New York City and since lodging is so expensive in the city, my granddaughter found Howard Johnson Motel online. She gave me the phone number after she booked the room online. I called and spoke to Pooja at the front desk. She was very helpful in setting up the bus tour which we took and thoroughly enjoyed. It was a very educational tour and we would recommend it to other travelers. She also told us about the shuttle service to the city which we took. We did not have to move our car once we got to the hotel. Everything was adequate and if I go to the area again, I would stay there again.
