Couldn't of asked for a better place. Staff was helpful and really nice people
This is a cute little gem of a hotel withing walking distance of Time Square and all the shows are literally across the street. Many restaurants of every flavor within 5 minutes. We were there on a trade show and could walk to the Javits Centre too. The hotel and rooms are small but not unexpected in NYC - the elevators are ridiculously tiny. We did not mind - the location made it a great find for us. We will stay again.
First trip to New York, check in was easy and pleasent. Room was not large but very nice and comfortable. Location is short walk to everything we wanted to see during our Christmas visit.
Nice hotel, very clean, staff friendly, better impossible.
The overall is good closed to everything ,room is clean ,restroom is good size . The Internet is mandatory charge but the speed is so slow we all end up using our Carrie data to find what we need. But it still a good hotel to stay we definitely come back
Location was good. Staff was great. Rooms were tiny, but I expected this and we were allowed to upgrade 2 nights of our stay. I dropped my wallet and it was returned by the staff with nothing taken. Staff was perfect.
Great boutique hotel! Close to everything! Rooms are very small but comfortable!
I travel often into NYC from SF. I also use Orbitz often. And I have stayed at the Hotel Mela in the past, though The Quin and The Refinery are my favorites. I booked the Hotel Mela for a one night stay meeting my daughter to see a show and then to go on to JFK the next day for 2 weeks in Africa. I booked the hotel based on location and amenities. Imagine my surprise, upon arriving at the hotel at 5pm on a Friday evening (after a long flight, and what felt like a longer cab ride) to be told that they had rebooked me into another hotel due to lack of availability. I was given 15 dollars in cash for a cab, and a letter to present to my new hotel which was more than a mile away. The new hotel was some way outside of our comfort and walking zone, since we were carrying our luggage for the Africa journey, and it was also subpar -- really, really, subpar. The hotel where I was booked without choice was small, dingy, overcrowded and when I finally got to the room had hair in the bathtub! We passed many hotels close by with availability, so for the life of me, I don't know why I was put there. And after a long journey and a curtain time to make -- I had no choice but to follow their instructions. Thankfully I can walk -- had this been my mother or mother in law it simply would have been disastrous and made the whole evening impossible. I've never been so disappointed, or felt more like a second class citizen. Bait and switch. Bad news and business.
Nice hotel. Very convenient. Staff on a scale of 1 to 10 would grade at least an 11. Really good.
Good and clean, but the wifi never worked. Also, the location was very convenient, it's close to many broadway theaters.
I've stayed in numerous hotels in the city and by far the Mela hotel has the smallest rooms. I was suppose to be in junior suite but it was just a regular small compact room which wasn't worth the money. Great location but the room just wasn't up to other hotel standards that I've stayed in.
When me and my husband first arrived we love the location and feel feel for the hotel. But i asked for a room in the top floor like the 12 to 14 floor. Well, the lady was rude and put us on the fourth floor. The room was cool and i knew it was going to be small but the room internet was horrible so it was a waste to bring my laptop and the room was cold even though we put the heat on 75. The bed was suppppppper hard like we slept in a cell!!! i wish i would have told them to change my room for the price we paid! Never again!!!
I've stayed at Hotel Mela several times for business. It's in a great midtown location, half a block off Times Square but quiet. No restaurant at the hotel but several around it. I'll definitely stay again.
Great location would stay there again convenient and I would recommend this to a friend
Most walkable location! Did not need cab or subway to enjoy heart of city. Staff very friendly & helpful. Would have liked a chair so would not have to sit on bed & a bottled water at no charge would be nice. Blackout curtains were great for good sleep! Minibar very sensitive to vibration or use of surface to make coffee, but desk promptly removed charges when notified. Enjoyed our stay!
A good value hotel just steps from Times Square. Small no frills room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Perfect for a long weekend.
I enjoy boutique hotels in NY and this one was terrific...right down the street from my appointments...bar and hotel staff excellent. Great value as well.
Very nice hotel in a great location for theater and transportation.
Hotel location is excellent, just a few steps away from Time Square. You can't beat that with the price they offer. Most of the staffs are friendly and helpful. Room is clean and comfortable. Even though it's the smallest hotel room I have ever been to, but I guess that's the standard at NYC, especially right at Time Square. My room is at 10 floor, can't hear a thing except noise from the rooms close by. Will definitely stay here again any time.
The hotel was very nice and in a great location, but it was very small. We had no view of the city and the mini fridge was not for personal use. The staff was nice and welcoming.
