Hotel Mela Times Square

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Only positive . .close to theaters. Otherwise the space is cramped, the resort fee for an additional 30 dollars a day is a joke. . . You are paying for no additional services. We travel to nyc regularly and realize that space is limited and rooms are small but on this trip the bathroom was bigger than the sleeping space. . . The bathroom sink drain didn't work . . The key card for accessing the room constantly malfunctioned. . . Never again

Hotel was clean and in a great spot. Lots of good restaurant's next to hotel and it was very quiet even with being in time square.

Everyone was nice very convenient you step out of the hotel and you are right in Times Square!

Great experience, super staff, wonderful stay. I would recommend it to friends!

Was not able to check in till about 1:30 which was not fun and seems that other guests have to wait long also, have not experienced that before, Room was nice , comfy and quite but SMALL

Nice, clean and close to everything or transportation i.e. Bus or Subway. Small rooms & elevators but would still recommend this hotel!!

Orbitz describes this as a "boutique" hotel, but there is nothing stylish or romantic about it. Just a plain, rather drab, functional room near Times square. Nothing really wrong with the room or the hotel, but for anything more than an overnight stay you can get a nicer room in the area for only a little bit more. Note that this is one of those hotels with a "resort fee" so it is more expensive than the advertised price. This was a very small room that was almost filled by a queen size bed. There was about two feet of space on either side of the bed to walk around it and three feet at the foot. There are no chairs and no place to sit. There was no chest or drawers or closet -- only a cupboard. You could hang a jacket up in it but not a full length dress or overcoat. One of the things that's important to me is whether the hotel room has a desk. Orbitz says that it does -- in fact, it does not. I don't know whether this is the fault of the hotel or Orbitz. Orbitz also says it has an ironing board. This is one of those mini-boards, but there is no place to set it up in that tiny room. Housekeeping was good, sheets and towels were good, bathroom (shower only, no tub) was good, hot water and heating worked fine, although the heater is rather noisy. Six electric outlets in the room to recharge gadgets. Wifi worked fine.

Great location, near subway. Jonathan at the front desk was great!

Overall great hotel. Great location and good value for your money. I would definately stay here again and I highly recommend it.

5 star hotel boutique style very well kept rooms Very clean Very modern

For vacation travel this hotel would be just fine - great location at a reasonable price. But as a business traveler I found it worn and wanting. The room was small and dreary, not a place you’d want to work in after a day of meetings, etc.

Perfect hotel. Right in the middle of everything you could possibly want to do. Rooms are kinda small but great for two.

We stayed at Hotel Mela during NYE this year. A great stay for the price and so close to the Times Square location. The staff allowed us to check in early and the room was perfect for what we needed. Clean and nice amenities. The elevators we're tiny but there were 3 and all in working condition so we had maybe 1 min max wait, even including returning to the hotel after the ball drop. I wish there was an exhaust fan in the bathroom but other than that our stay was great. We'd stay again!!!

comfortable and good location, unfo no hot water for a couple of days

Aside from the location, did not like much about this hotel. The walls were extremely dirty and there was dust in certain places. Lobby was a bit dark for my liking.

It was right on Times Square and extremely close to everything. It was in the Theater district so we only had to walk 3 minutes to get to the Minksoff theater which is where we went to see Lion King. Check in and check out were extremely fast thanks to Orbitz. We didn’t use the internet or any of the facilities because we were only in the room to sleep, we stayed out and about in Times Square. Didn’t care for how tiny the elevators were but I guess that’s New York life. The elevators also took FOREVER. I also didn’t like how I had to leave a sign telling the cleaning crew to wash the tub. Other than that it was a pretty good stay.

Staff hotel were the best and it is in a great location.

I was unsure what to expect but can say that we were quite pleased with our stay. We had delayed flights and ended up arriving at 2:30 am. There was a staff member there to greet us and help us find much needed food. The room was small but clean, quiet, and withing walking distance to everything we needed. I would recommend Hotel Mela and will likely choose to stay there again.

The hotel is small: small rooms, small lobby, small elevators - it looks and feels more like a hotel in Paris than NYC. The room was clean and nice - we were literally on top of a couple of Broadway theaters so the noise is incessant. Too expensive for what was being offered.

We were told upon arrival about the daily"Facility Fee" which included coffee and fruit, etc. in the lobby each morning. We stayed two nights, and they never did have coffe and fruit.

Hello, Thanks so much for your recent stay at Hotel Mela and for sharing your experience with the online community. While we would have loved to receive your feedback and learning about a very good and/or perfect experience, we do understand that shortfalls made your experience only average. We do not guarantee check-in time until 3pm. If we have a room ready before then we will happily check you in, but again 3pm is the guaranteed check-in time. We do hope and trust that your future travel plans to NYC do include Hotel Mela so we can truly demonstrate what a great hotel this is! Thanks again and all the best!
