Fifty NYC-an Affinia hotel

We used the Metro everyday which was only 1 - 3 blocks away from the hotel depending on which line we were jumping on - we went to the Financial District, MSG, Times Square, SOHO, Washington Square, Central Park and Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. We walked on 50th to Rockefeller Centre and Times Square with no hassles. Beautiful churches and other architecture on 50th Street so the walk is a must. The restaurants on 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the neighbourhood have great food options (some even gluten free), appy hours and reasonable prices. We found Greenacre Park, which is a waterfall and green space within 2 blocks of the hotel where we had coffee or take-out to plan our day away from the traffic noise. Firehall and Police Station are one block north of hotel so you will hear sirens all day. Pros: close to Metro, or if you choose to walk it is a great location for that too, great restaurants in the area, guest rooms are big with huge windows, hotel offers car service to airport for same price as taxi, there is a safe in the guest room Cons: gets a bit crowded in the lobby esp at check in so be prepared to wait, barn door to the guest bathroom was a bit sticky and no handle to open it from the inside, no fan in the bathroom, room comes with earplugs as there is a bit of traffic noise (horns and sirens), continental is $16.95 pp which is pricey compared to full breakfast at restaurants in the neighbourhood, daily resort fee is $30

Excellent hotel with good location. Nice and clean rooms. After checking-out they allow you stay in a nice leaving area with coffee, water, restroom and gym shower.

Just a good experience good hotel nice staff and a nice comfortable room.

We were in the City for a day and, as ex-New Yorkers, had a lot of friends to see. Luckily we were able to ask them to meet us in the 2nd floor lounge to catch up around the fireplace. And the staff was super friendly.

Courteous and helpful staff. New York apartment home feel. Good overall vibe. Safe and secure neighborhood. Block off Lexington and Park Avenues. Walk to Grand Central. $8 cab fare to lower Manhattan, Chelsea Pier, etc. or north to Central Park. Great restaurants nearby. Shopping on 5th Ave and Times Square all within a few blocks. Overall good quality for the price.

This was a nice hotel but we were hit with a large resort fee. We had prepaid our entire stay and was not expecting this fee upon arrival. Watch the rates being quoted.

We were given a 4th floor room with a view of a brick wall and directly over restaurant ventilation systems that made the room smell like the back of a greasy diner all day/night. Only stayed one night or we would have had to change rooms; it was that bad. Wish Orbitz could give you a better idea of what floor you are buying when you book a hotel through them. Also, because the room was booked through Orbitz, the hotel could not offer much in the way of compensation for this awful $300+/night room.

Probably the most spacious hotel room I've ever seen in New York City! Friendly staff, free wine hour, well-appointed but small gym. Wi-Fi included, coffee in the lounge all day. Interesting International crowd. A couple of blocks off of the best part of Fifth Avenue, and close to Grand Central Station.

They think that we travel across the half world and we dunt know anything. Receptionist can't find my booking but still she can give me standard room to stay without money on the same booking but not what I booked for a suit!!! the lady in the morning told me that they will charge the difference to the agent orbits for the suit which they gave me the next night. top of all she said she will charge me 99 dollar without taxes for every 30 mins delay in check out..!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Fifty. The doormen were super friendly and always greeted us with a welcome home. The rooms were clean although a little small. The location is very close to eateries, Duane Meade and the subway. We'll be back!

A/C didn't work. Hotel said it was on motion sensor. Made for a very warm night.

The beds were comfortable, the rooms large, and there was even a mini kitchen with all you could possibly ask for. For these things alone, I give this place a higher rating than I otherwise would have. However, they dropped the ball on the bathroom. The door to the bathroom is right in front of the toilet, so if you want to close the door, good luck. The toilet space is so small and cramped that you'll probably have a leg dangling out of the bathroom. Then again, that might not happen for people with shorter legs. Also, the staff was a bit too snippy for my liking. The bellperson avoided helping us even though he watched us standing there, confused about where to put our bags. Another bellperson was so desperate to get us out of the hotel (???) that he tried to call us a cab to the airport while we were checking in. I will definitely not be staying here again unless I plan to stay for a lengthy period of time just because I imagine I'll be hard-pressed to find another hotel with as nice of a kitchen.

Rooms are comfortable and stylish. A trendy, boutique hotel vibe. Great location and a good value for NYC.

We chose this location because we had to attend a party in Greenpoint Brooklyn. It was very easy and cheep to get from Manhattan to Brooklyn from the hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel is cute and unique. I liked the second floor group lounge, which was very inviting and convenient. Wine happy hour was fun and people mingled a bit. My room was big by NY City hotel standards. Overall, a very positive experience.

This hotel provided great value at a very affordable cost. I would stay there again when I am in New York.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. We felt the staff was outstanding--everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. When we would return in the evening, the wonderful doorman would not only open the door but would bow and say "Welcome Home". On our last evening, I thanked him for his wonderful attitude and asked if I could hug him. The front desk help were knowledgeable, the housekeeping staff were always smiling. I am sure this hotel has very rigorous hiring standards and I applaud them. Our experience was fantastic. The wine hour was wonderful as well. I would plan to stay here again when we travel to New York.

I have stayed at affinia hotels at least 100 nights in the past few years. I usually stay at the Dumont or Shelburne as it is closer to my clients. I requested a high floor here but was given room 418. Really tight space. had to set the iron up between bed and tv which left no room to actually get back to the closet without shuffling across the bed. Bathroom was not clean (hair). The last time I was here they were under construction but I had a much nicer room. Guess it is luck of the draw. Would recommend but dont stay in X18 room.

Great location, walking distance to the subway train and fifth avenue shopping. Great restaurants open late nearby. 2nd floor lounge featured happy hour daily, and had free wi-fi. We would definitely come back.

I recently stayed at the Affinia 50 for a girls getaway to New York City. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were met by a very friendly front desk associate who checked us in quickly and efficiently. We arrived several hours before check in and were thrilled to find out that they had a room ready for us. We requested an upper floor room and they were able to accommodate that request. Four of us were in a Junior Suite which had two queen beds, a fold out sofa and a full kitchen. The room was very large, even by regular hotel standards, much less a New York hotel! There is plenty of storage in the room, bathroom and the kitchen. The 2nd floor Lounge area has several seating arrangements, and features coffee, tea and water all day, and from 5 o.m. to 6 p.m. they offer a wine and snack hour. The location on East 50th was very convenient to many of the must see locations. .Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Public Library and Bryant Park are all within reasonable walking distance. There is an amazing pizza place just around the corner called AperiTIVO Pizza Bar on 3rd Avenue. Another favorite is the Brooklyn Diner on 43rd near Times Square. Absolutely delicious. Our plane left well past check out time so the staff stored our luggage until time for our flight. The doorman was quick to grab a taxi for us when needed and he was always very welcoming when we passed through the doors. The price for our stay was a great value, given the location, the accommodations and the amenities. Each staff member we encountered was friendly and gracious. I would highly recommend Affinia 50 for any length of stay in NYC!

It was convienient, clean, and comfy. Nothing too fancy, but nice.
