In the business district, Excelsior Hotel is in New York's Upper West Side neighborhood, a walkable area with good airport proximity and shopping. Columbus Circle and St. Patrick's Cathedral are notable landmarks, and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Central Park and Bryant Park. Central Park Zoo and Chelsea Piers are not to be missed. Our guests appreciate the hotel's central location.
Our stay at the Excelsior was lovely. The lobby was decorated for Christmas and was very festive. The apple and cinnamon cold water was great, very different. There was a problem with the coffee pot one day. It really slowed the line to have every person have to make cup with the Keurig. Location is perfect....lots of things to do in the neighborhood.
This is our 4th or 5th stay in hotel over the past dozen years. Always enjoy the location in the Upper West Side as the hotel is a block from Central Park, the subway, museums and shopping. Plenty of good eating places nearby as well. The area is away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square, so a little quieter by NYC standards. Hotel ratings are subjective, and though this hotel is not opulent or pretentious, it's a solid 3.5 star. In fact, I was noticing that the hotel condition is essentially the same as it was the first time we stayed 10 years ago, so kudos to management for keeping the property in good shape. So if future plans puts us in NYC, the Excelsior Hotel will definitely be on the list of places to stay again.
This hotel is so charming. The rooms are beautiful and well appointed and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The concierges were especially helpful. The location is great. It is located near the MTA and right next to the museum of natural history and Central Park. There are many great local restaurants and shops within walking distance. We loved it.
