Dumont NYC-an Affinia hotel

Location is great: close to metro, diner around the corner. I was very disappointed by the hotel's standard. Based on the photos and reviews I expected much more. What I found was a dark uninviting room, worn carpet, outdated decor and bedding, old bathroom, sticky TV remotes. I will not stay again.

Excellent view from room. Nice location. Clean rooms and nice and helping staff

We stayed as a family of 4 (2 small kids) for 3 nights. When we arrived, it turned out that the requested pack-n-play and highchair are unavailable (both were requested in advance). If we got a call from the hotel, warning us that this may happen, we would have brought our own pack-n-play. The woman at the counter was indifferent, cold and unpleasant. It was late at night and our 1-yr-old had no place to sleep in. After my husband loudly expressed our indignation (and wouldn't let it go), she said that they may try to call other properties and look for another pack-n-play. 30 min later they brought it in. QUESTION: why do we need to get aggressive and threaten to complain in order to get the service? On the other hand, the night manager who just came in for his shift rushed to help us with our luggage (wouldn't take the tip). For the rest of the stay, the staff was very helpful and pleasant. When we mentioned that the doors were a bit squeaky (waking up the kids), they oiled them right away.

I've stayed here for years and it's a solid 4.5 star hotel. It's missing a restaurant and room service is handled by a local diner. Get over it. Rooms all have a kitchen . They are all very large for NYC. Price is always fair, no matter how busy NYC is. Location is awesome. Wine hour is great.

quiet rooms, pillow choices, very comfortable and quiet!

Stayed here two weekends in a row for business, and nothing but good memories.

I've stayed here for years. There is really nothing to com plain about here. The restaurant that was attached to it is either being renovated or no longer there, and that handled in room dining for them. It's now outsourced to another local restaurant. Had room service and it came like it would from ordering by Seamless, not a big deal.

Hotel was a little boutique hotel but staff was amazing. Beds were clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the visit and the hotel was one of the main reasons we had such a good time in NYC.

Near midtown, grand central, empire state building. Nice to have a kitchenette.

Nice place to stay for a quick trip. It just need efficiency in checking in. I was waiting while the staff was talking on the phone without acknowledging my presence.

First time to NYC. Went during Thanksgiving. Very central location. Loved the kitchenette.

Clean. Close to nyu. Far enough away from time square and all that craziness but close enough to walk to most locations.

great hotel with friendly staff and good amenities. gym, kitchenette, great location. however - there is definitely road noise so use ear plugs!

Room was very roomy!! Even had a kitchen! Staff very helpful whenever we brought up an issue with the room! Would recommend!!!

Nice size for a family to stay - we have 2 elementary aged kids. We used the kitchen to cook dinner with groceries that we bought from the store next to the hotel. The kitchen had a full size fridge and an apartment size gas range. Beds were comfortable. The wine hour was a great way to wrap up the day. Good central location - we walked from Grand Central Terminal. Nice, clean workout room in the basement level. Quintessential NYC bellman! They held our bags prior to check-in. Would recommend to friends and will stay here again..............

The doormen were very nice and helpful! Check in girl just ok. Room was nice and very clean except outside of windows

Great location and wine evenings were a plus. Rooms were nice and quiet and well laid out. Spacious too.

It took more than 20min to check in. They said they just changed computer system and didn't know how to put customer data in system.

The rooms are huge, with a full kitchen. Extraordinary value for that kind of comfort and space. Good location for midtown activities and restaurants.

Excellent location, helpful staff good hotel. Overall happy with the stay. Liked Happy hour wine bar.
