My husband and I spent 4 nights here in January. It was a great base for our exploration of this wonderful city. The location of the inn was especially great because we were only a few blocks away from Frenchmen St where there is a concentration of some of NOLA's best music clubs. We especially loved the Spotted Cat. It was nice after a long day not to have to travel far to hear some incredible talent. The inn was also a very reasonable distance to the French Quarter and an easy walk to one of the streetcar stops. We stayed in the large suite in the main house which was very comfortable and had a large bathroom. The place was quiet, and the outdoor hot tub was nice after a chilly day. And as others have pointed out, Tom's breakfasts are tasty and abundant, and his advice and personal experience of the city made for great inspiration. All in all, a wonderful place in a fantastic city. We hope to be back.
These cottages are set in a lovely courtyard, unique and individual. Close enough to walk to the French Quarter and all the action. Great breakfasts, and all the information to suit your expectations from host Tom. Entirely satisfied with our 3 nights stay in January 2019.
My wife and I passed 5 nights here and exploring New Orleans in January 2019. The Courtyards are near some good restaurants--and terrific music places! such as the Spotted Cat. However, they are away from the noisier side of Chartres St and the French Quarter. Tom was a fine host: he told us about the first two Mardi Gras parades; they were excellent, yet without his knowledge & help we would have missed them. As other travelers remark, Tom cooks delicious breakfasts... plus each one is different. He is kind and friendly, helping us to appreciate the New Orleans he loves and continues to learn.
This B&B is quirky, characterful and in a perfect location. The bedroom and shower were small but made up for in having a kitchen and living area. Tom's breakfasts were amazing as was his knowledge of the area. He was really good to us and allowed us to use the room during the day we were leaving as no-one else was booked in. Thanks Tom, we had a great time!
Such good care was taken of us Tom cooked the best breakfast! It was so good we made sure none of our tours conflicted with breakfast time. It's location puts you in a real creole neighborhood and is so close you can walk into the French quarterin a few minutes. Tom was a wealth of excellent information as to what to do and where to eat. Thank you Tom you are a scholar and a gentleman. Stay here!!!
My significant other and I stayed here for 4 days. I originally messed up my booking. Tom was very kind and helped me fix the issue. So friendly and helpful, Tom and his wife gave us so many ideas on things to do! So happy with our stay, clean, cozy, hot homemade breakfast every morning! Perfect, and will be coming here again.
More on our room later. First, a word about location. It's as if Goldilocks picked it: not too close to Frenchmen Street and the Quarter to be noisy, not too far away to walk to sample the defining music and food of New Orleans. The B&W's location on Chartres (that's pronounced "charters") is just about perfect with some kind of mystical parking availability (rent a small car). This trip (and we are return visitors), we stayed in the Front Carriage House room. It's the first one on the left after the entrance from the street, and it is smack up to the sidewalk. And yet: I never missed a wink of sleep because of noise from either source. Other guests are uniformly polite, and the neighborhood is basically residential. This room has an ample feel to it because of the nice sitting room space. The bathroom (newly expanded and decorated we learned) is big and fresh. And speaking of big and fresh, there are Tom's breakfasts. The first of our stay was an au gratin dish version of a Croque Monsieur. It's enough to stave off hunger until a very late lunch (which became our MO). In the days that followed, we had French toast a la Tom, lox and bagels, and on New Year's Day, a very special meal that included black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread. It was a grand way to begin 2019. We will return, of course, and hope that the room with the lime green walls and the purple ceiling is available. (Note: if there is one tiny caution about the Carriage House room it's that the beautiful king bed is high off the ground. Those who have indulged on Frenchmen Street might want to make a plan for bed in advance.)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at B & W Courtyard! Our quaint carriage house room was located off the first courtyard which has a soothing fountain and beautifully selected foliage! Tom is an excellent chef, and we looked forward to his creations every morning! Our favorite treat was a traditional Good Luck New Years' brunch that came complete with a cocktail! Tom and Dana are very knowledgeable about the area and have great recommendations and helpful tips. We would definitely stay at this B & B again!
Tom was an excellent host, full of knowledge. Location is excellent. Walking distance to almost everywhere. Breakfast was fabulous. Parking in NOLA appears to be a small nightmare so be prepared to walk a few blocks if you have a rental car. I would definitely stay here again.
Tom gave fantastic tips about where to go hear music and catch a second line. He also made delicious breakfasts every morning! Dana gave a great rundown when we arrived and oriented us to the city. We will definitely return!
