My husband and I stay at Trailways Hotel Nelson often, in fact it is our favourite place to stay in Nelson because the location is so central just a short walk over the bridge and into town so within walking distance to shops and restaurants. If you cant be bothered going out, the restaurant located on site has lovely meals but in particular we enjoyed the breakfast with a nice range to chose from and they give you a deal on breakfast as soon as you check in to take advantage of. The rooms are lovely, the beds are massive and the shower was to die for with its rain shower head and massaging jets...oh and don't forget the beautiful heated tiles in the bathroom. The staff are always friendly and accommodating and you get good amount of wifi allowance per person free so that's great! Definitely the best place to stay in Central Nelson!!
We (a group of 18) arrived mid-afternoon as a group of Motorcyclists on a Fully Guided Tour with South Pacific Motorcycle Tours. Parking was good and off the street. Our room was typical of most, it was warm, clean and comfortable with room to move without my Wife & I tripping over each other. The coffee & hot chocolate in the room was most welcome first up and later that evening. None of us knew there was a ruckus outside (a group of locals going hammer & tongs) about 8:30pm till eating breakfast the next morning, as there was no outside noise heard in any of the rooms. I'll be staying at the Trailways Hotel in Nelson on my next visit to NZ.
we had a lovely two nights .The staff were all excellent. We had two evening meals and one breakfast.Could not fault any of it.Our room was very comfortable and warm.We were there for just for a change and to spend our children inheritance.Even though we didn't travel far to get there,it felt like we were in another world.WE WILL BE BACK.Many thanks.
My colleague and I stayed with you on Monday evening and had another very positive experience, from the moment that we were greeted by the lovely Isabelle we were made to feel welcome again. My room (number 65 I think) was immaculately presented and the shower was awesome. We had breakfast with you on the Tuesday morning and it was stunning although the portion was bigger than I could handle ;) Check out was again made seamless and we will defiantly be returning to stay with you on our next trip to Nelson – great work team
Located close to shopping. Rooms lovely and spacious. The bathroom floor was heated and room featured a spa bath. Bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept on for several years. Restaurant had lovely menu and room service was also available. Staff were extremely helpful. Only place I will stay in Nelson from now on.
This is an excellent hotel in a great location. It is by the river and our "spa room" had a balcony overlooking the river. The bathroom floor was heated and the fine spa shower was an adventure that fortunately had instructions. There is no elevator. The location is very convenient at one end of Trafalgar Street that has many shops restaurants and bars both on it and on the cross streets. We would stay there again.
Comfortable hotel at a convenient location. Modern, new and clean. The bathtub has a spa function which was a nice surprise. The restaurant food was great as well. Ribeye steak with truffle mash was done perfectly and it was a delicious meal.
Great little hotel booked by my tour guide husband, this hotel is well situated within Nelson CBD and is easy to find. The staff were friendly and helpful, I had a good sized warm and well laid out room and I was able to park my car safely within the hotel grounds car park. I enjoyed my one night stay immensely, and would return. I did also note that they had a tasty and reasonably priced bar and restaurant menu/ service on offer although I did not have time to try it on this occassion.
Only stayed for the one night but was impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the finish of the room. Loved the nice little touches like the night light that comes on automatically when you get up in the middle of the night and full body shower. Would stay again
Two night business trip to Nelson with outstanding weather in June was a highlight of the Year. The Trailways Hotel Nelson was not. First was given a room at the end of the hallway upstairs ending in A which always concerns me. Also the room next door with 3 grown men each with a single bed in a single room seemed a little weird ... This Hotel has the Tides Restaurant & Bar hooked up to it which saves it as the food and particularly the wine selection list is very good. Mind you so it should be in the heart of Marlborough country. I used to visit this region many moons ago and I'm sorry to say (against public opinion Nelson is a trendy little place) I found they still have a ways to go. The Trailways Hotel has room service, my room had no cable for the broadband plug and the staff tried to enforce insecure wifi usage, no spare coat hangers, no ice trays in fridge but it did have an ashtray on outside balcony table ( a lot of Hotels don't supply ashtrays) also reception staff were over done, and I definitely wouldn't parachute in there again for accommodation I'm sure there must be better places to stay in Nelson which I will explore next time I'm there.
