Tanxiang Resort Hotel Sun Moon Lake3.0 out of 5.0

We was told to make a payment right away when we were there in the morning. Later in the evening, when we got back, the owner took us to a nearby building which is some kind of funny-smelling noodle place on the 1st floor without prior notification. From the way he talked, it's seemed like he did something like this for a long time and it's common to take us to differ place than the original hotel building. Our room situated on the 4th floor, a few buildings away, no elevator, no security guard, only one CCTV spotted on the premise. We booked a room with free boat coupons but the owner refused to give those coupons when he knew we had Sun Moon Lake passes. We also told to not take a shower after 6PM since the hot water pipe system that is using between rooms may not work properly. On the bright side, the location is very good, easily access to the downtown.
The given room and the photo advertised online, are completely different. This is to warn all the travelers to bewared of this property. They are seriously unreliable. The staff service performed service in a bad manners and verbally look down.
I stayed here one night. Owner charged my room twice, they were supposed to deduct just deposit from my account but next day I realised they charged full price and when I came to the hotel I paid cash the difference again, still thinking only deposit was taken from my account. Next day morning I asked them what it means, they said they would send the money back and gave me a strange looking receipt. After one week no money came back. Don't go there, they are trying to rip off people in any possible way.
I can speak for the rest of my family when I say that this hotel was absolutely the worst hotel I have ever been to. They tell you to enter through the back door of the hotel, and when doing so, you are forced to walk through a humid, dark, and smelly area to get to the hotel "lobby". I am going to use "lobby" because it was essentially a crowded room with tables scattered around. When entering a cramped elevator which barely fits three people, we hoped that the room would be a lot nicer than what we had seen so far. When opening the door, it almost hit the bed, which was just a mattress sitting on the floor. There was barely room to stand or walk around. The room's length and width fit two beds snugly, and there was little room for anything else. The air conditioning in the room was hard to control, and I'm pretty sure the one we had was broken. My family dropped our stuff, looked around, and decided we had to leave within 30 minutes of arriving. It was an interesting experience, and not one that I want to relive. When looking at the website, it showed a great view, large beds, and excellent decor. (The only view was of a building). I just want to say that the website did not match the room at all.
The rooms are a few buildings away from the reception, where you will be "welcomed" by a guy who will charge you in cash only and try to sell you bike and boat tickets before even seeing your room. He will take you to a smelly noodle restaurant (closed, I saw a rat when I moved out! It doesn't have a real entrance - you have to pull up the garage door when closed at night) and take you to the room (no window, humid, smells of molding walls). Aircon is in your face, the room gives the impression of being used for other purposes than a hotel...I moved out after half an hour and found myself a better place to stay. The guy of course stayed with the cash. The place is a mess! It is not worth the try for the cheap deal!
Staying in this place for 2 nights and doubtlessly the location is really convenience for tourists. The pier is just opposite us, by walking distance we can reach the centre that selling bus ticket to most of the places too. Free breakfast provided by hotel was sandwiches & pack of milk, although it's simple but I'm loving this type of local breakfast. Well, let's talk about shortage of the hotel now. This is not a real hotel and I think we should just named it as home stay instead. We need to pass by a coffee shop, walked up to staircases only can get to our room. The coffee shop will not open until late so the returning time to hotel is one of the concern. Nothing much to comment about the room but bedsheets is real dirty. The cabinet is smelly and so we dare not to put any of our clothes inside it. With this price I think we can found another better hotel as when I walked around during night time, there's a lot of nice hotel nearby too. Own opinion, think twice before you book this hotel. Chaos!
The list of problems with this place is long. Dirty walls, broken furniture, crappy breakfast, bad wi-fi and no mobile phone reception to name a few. The owners didn't even want to give us more drinking water. I guess the location is convenient. We asked about nightlife in the area and the owners told us there wasn't any, but when we went for a walk we found several nice bars nearby. Thanks a lot!
Stayed earlier this month. This is not a hotel definitely not a resort. -halls have thin walls so you can hear the other room clearly -dirty walls, dirty seats, dirty everywhere. -cheap hotel usually but owners will definitely take advantage of any events or desperate travellers to jack prices up multiple folds. -hallway is pitch black with a praying alter because cheap owners want to save a little bit of electricity. -Only interested in selling u tickets and private transport out. -there was hot water initially and then it was cold/luke Warm afterwards in erratic spurts. -Zero service or illiterate. Owner will probably not reply to this review and post some advert as a response. Idiots. I think Taiwan tourism association should look into this hotel so they don't tarnish the great experiences Taiwan has to offer. I've been here multiple times and love it a lot.
