Our trip to Mykonos was made better by the wonderful staff of the Matogianni Hotel. Apparently started many years ago by a man offering a few rooms to travelers and quickly grew to the hotel it is today. Feels very boutique but also very comfortable and homey. The hotel is located in the central part of Mykonos and easy to get around every where in a short amount of time. Rooms were great. Just what you'd expect. I'd definitely come back here. In fact, I'm writing this review to make sure I remember where I stayed in Mykonos. They area very LGBT friendly and offer advice on where to go and see.
Me and my girlfriend stayed mid October It was a perfect time to go as much quieter and cheaper than peak season The guy at reception was so helpful and friendly and the room was perfect, literally couldn’t fault anything would definitely recommend this place to anyone as it’s in such a good location the people who worked there so friendly also made it special
Here's an honest review of my recent experience here: Pros: Right in the center of Mykonos town. A decent value hotel. Cons: The ownership and service are really awful. I wanted to cancel one day and their policy states it's 50% of the rate, which I was fine with. They wanted to charge me 100% and were yelling at me and calling me derogatory cuss words in front of guests. Additionally, they agreed to this through Expedia and still wanted to violate what they agreed to with Expedia. Additionally, if you google the hotel, it says "no cancellation fee" with Expedia. So clearly they do not follow their own policies. Other Cons: The front desk person (during the day) is very unhelpful - the one at night is very nice. The rooms need a deep clean. If you want to do laundry through them, expect it to come a day late. I will never stay here again and don't recommend it.
Great to deal with. We were stuck on Paros and didn’t know if we could get back to Mykonos that day. Manager said no problem and held the rooms saying just let them know what was happening. Rooms when we arrived were great and fantastic position as in the middle of the Chora district but rooms lovely and quite
This hotel is in the middle of all of what Mykonos town is about ( walking distance to the old Mykonos port, little Venice , the Mills) but it’s off a Hilden path so really quiet offering a lot of privacy . Very happy with room quality, location and value for money
Matogianni is great for its location and the staff is helpful and friendly. It’s a simple hotel in the middle of town so there is easy access to shops and restaurants. There are no special amenities really but there is a 10% discount at a neighboring restaurant, Squeeze. They have nice drinks and some food options with quick service. The rooms are a good size for the price. The A/C works well which is key in the summer heat.
This place was fine. Very good location and it was quiet. However, for the price, it left a lot to be desired. Yes, Mykonos is expensive and it was the beginning of the high season, but still. I found much better places in Santorini and Athens for far less money. The bathrooms are the type where everything gets wet. There are doors, but the water runs out under them. In my experience, these types of bathrooms usually smell like a dank, musty dog. This was no exception. I had to leave the balcony doors open to air it out. The linens and towels had been washed, but they had stains on them. The remote controls for the AC and TV were grimy. When I received a call from the front desk reminding me of my cab to the airport, the receiver was so dirty that phone cradle had a thick black outline of the ear piece. So gross. They clean, but the place obviously hasn't been deep cleaned in a very long time. For the money, they can do a better job. They did call a cab transfer to the airport for me as I had to leave early in the morning to catch an 8am flight. At that time of the morning, cabs can come into the Old Port square making it very easy. However, when I arrived at the square for the pick-up, two other people were in the car and the driver was getting ready to drive away. I flagged him down and was able to get to their airport, but if I hadn't, I would've been in a very bad spot. No one is just out and about in Mykonos at 6:45 am. This is not the hotel's fault at all. Just a caution to watch out for rogue cab hailers.
Matogianni Hotel is located in the centre of the town of Mykonos. It is a no frills hotel which offers clean air conditioned rooms with comfy beds. There is no on-site restaurant/bar but round the corner you have anything you can ask for working almost 24/7 as is the nightlife of Mykonos. Staff is very friendly and will address all your questions. You need to be a bit careful when showering as the showers are not separate and might end up washing the whole bathroom whilst trying to shower but easy to work with. Rooms are air-conditioned and of a decent size. A great budget hotel for you to enjoy the nightlife of Mykonos without needing to use any form of transport!
I really like the fact that this hotel was in the middle of the mykonos town. My husband and I were debating either stay by the beach or Mykonos town but I am glad I listened to him and stayed in the city. This hotel location is perfect, walking distance to EVERYTHING including clubs, bars and restaurants. Room were very comfortable and clean, only 2 things I would recommend. First they need a bigger sign with the hotel name outside because it could be a little bit difficult to find it if you don’t pay attention carefully and the second one the shower. As much as we loved this hotel the shower was extremely small and uncomfortable, a couple trying to take a shower together or someone overweight cannot fit there. Other than this 2 things everything went smooth and perfect, highly recommended, we loved our stay here.
After spending a very noisy night in another hotel nearby, we came back to Matogianni. We were able to check in very early and had a perfect last night before we flew back to Holland. Great service, very clean room. Very helpful by arranging a taxi to the airport. Location of Matogianni is great, don't go elsewhere.
