This place can be okay if you know what you're getting into ahead of time. They consider themselves a 2 star hotel. We stayed in a Grand Studio Apartment. There wasn't much of a view. It was very close to the action but a block away from the nearest shopping street. It didn't feel too noisy for us. The space is tight and dated. Our building looked like they took a house and divided into several rooms. They packed as many beds as possible in a room. There was very little living space besides being in your bed. There's a very narrow ladder leading to the second floor loft. There's 3-4.5 feet of ceiling room (serious) upstairs depending on where you are. This is the kind of space you sleep in but that's about it. There was a single room key to be shared among five people. The kitchen consists of a dual hot plate setup, small sink and a mini fridge. Not very practical to do much cooking. The place was relatively clean. We didn't see any mold. The linens were all clean. There is no reception. You have to drag your bags through the pedestrian only streets of Mykonos to get to your room. Thankfully we had cell service and used Google Maps to find it otherwise it would have been near impossible. When you arrive there is an inconspicuous sign with a phone number. Manos, our host only spoke to us once over the phone. He speaks okay English and was able to get the cleaning staff to let us into a room. It's difficult to get in touch with him as he didn't respond to my calls or texts on the morning we left. I was unable to communicate with the staff as they didn't speak English. While the staff (60+) only spoke Greek they were very friendly and tried to help when they could. I would look at other options in town before booking this. However I would book this over staying at a place outside of town.
Not one thing was as pictured or described. Double bed, Seaview with balcony/patio & kitchenette was actually 2 single beds, view of a wall, no balcony/patio & a camping stove! Manos threatened us, told us to leave if we didn't like it, refused to refund our € & was the epitome of rudeness to the point where we left immediately as we feared our safety! Do not stay here!!!
Positive point: location is just perfect, you are 5 mins from anywhere in Mykonos town. But that's it! The studio i stayed in is definitely not showing on the pics, very small room, bed sheets not changed everyday and the level of cleanness is not the best one. The staff was very nice (which make me feel quite bad about writing this bad review), but truth must be said. I have paid a rather huge amount of money for 1 week, I would NOT recommend anyone to stay here. The owners need to start looking after the place and his guests or soon they will be empty. And the Wi-Fi was really bad and annoying to use when you need to do some work!!! Very disappointing!!!
OLYMPIC HOLIDAYS housedus here on the last night of our holiday in Syros, we had to have a night in Mykonos due to the ferry and plane times. We were hoping to go back to to Rhenia hotel but that wasn't to be. This looks nice enough on tho outside set amongst the back streets and narrow walkways of Mykonos town, however, when inside it was horrendous. There was a musty smell inside the rooms that hit you as soon as you entered the door, there were beds for at least five people so god knows how that would work as its not that big. There was no Kettle, a basic of a self catering apartment. I opened the fridge to place some drinks inside to find it was covered in mould, clearly not cleaned out i a very long time and a towel for some reason was hanging from the freezer compartment and was soaking wet, the smell instantly filled the room.... you can imagine Utterly disgusting it felt dirty and we dumped our cases and went out for the rest of the day. That night whilst in bed you could hear the people above going to the toilet it felt as if you were going to get your head covered......Avoid, I am complaining to Olympic holiday about this hovel, one night was far to long a stay
The staff was extremely kind and nice, but the apartment was simply awful: too small with just two little windows directly on the street which was very noisy although quite hidden. We were given a ground floor studio so we were obliged to leave the main door opened to get some fresh air. There was no space for our luggage, the kitchen is simply a ridiculous corner with no equipment at all. no window in the bathroom which is extremely small, very uncomfortable beds and a little table where you cannot even sit down. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, it is true that is in a convenient but very hard to find location, but you can certainly get a better accommodation for the same price!!
Without doubt, the WORST accommodation I've had the misfortune of staying in. It'd probably be quicker to list the furnishings & features which did function correctly but here's the full breakdown of the omnishambles that is Madres Studios: - The place is located in the middle of a Cycladic labyrinth which makes it nigh on impossible to find given the lack of signage or accurate directions. - There is no Reception so after trying about 14 different telephone numbers, the manager of the flats, a slippery wastrel named Manos (more about him coming up), showed up a few hours later to let us in. - The rooms couldn't bear less of a resemblance to the photos shown above. Seriously, they may as well pull pictures of Buckingham Palace's living quarters off the internet and stick them up on here. - The rooms were dirty and tiny, the fridge & safe didn't work, the shower flooded the entire flat, the wifi was non-existent, the A/C system malfunctioned and the beds were back-breakers. - Manos, after agreeing to remedy these issues, proceeded to go awol and managed to fix precisely none of them during our week's stay. - To top it off, our flat was then broken into and we had a passport & a wallet stolen. Neither of which could have been taken if the aforementioned safe had been fixed. DO NOT STAY HERE.
This is quite simply, the worst place one can stay in Mykonos. I "stayed" (I use the term stay in it's loosest definition) with three friends and had to endure trial upon trial, all of which affected my overall enjoyment of a lovely town. Having had to endure the initial absurdity of not being able to find the apartment due to there being no signage, I then had to withstand a myriad of disappointments: idiotic staff (and I mean, seriously incompetent), terrible sized room, tiny toilet, shower flooding, fridge malfunction, light minimalis and a safe that ironically, wasn't safe. As people have mentioned, it's only redeeming quality is that it's in the town centre... But I mean...you're really clutching there.
First this is not an Hotel neither a BB, but just an apartment without services, aside the cleaning: no reception, no breakfast, very poor Wifi and very basic cleaning. Furniture: just less than basic and really old. Beds The beds are really inconfortable and old. Not privacy at all: you listen the neighbour as it was inside your room. Bathroom: with more than 20 years without any change is really small, uncomfortable and badly maintained. The shower is also an issue due to the poor water flow and the hot takes time Views: despite is all located you are sleeping at street level. Internet: only from a corner of the room Don't even try and do not pay more than EUR 60 per night.
I caught a taxi to the street that this hotel is on and was told by the taxi driver it was a 3 minute walk. It is when you are advised where you are staying. This hotel has 2 properties with different names and after some confusion, waiting in the sun and walking around the steep steps of mykonos with a backpack for an hour we found the hotel titled Madres. It does not have a reception and you have to call someone to find out which building you are booked into and they will then come and let you in. The number provided is or was disconnected and when you finally manage to contact someone they casually turn up 40 minutes later. The rooms are dated and don't waste your time asking for a double bed because they're all singles. Showers are cramped and the hot water must be shared around all the rooms. Close to Mykonos town is its best feature.
First of all, be aware that there are two apartments with the same name on different locations. You dont know which location you booked. One is in centre and the other one, further away. Pictures of apartment don't reflect reality. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are tiny. They changed the towels only every other day! And even that you have to ask them! We stayed in studio but we couldn't cook because the stove didn't work. The whole experience was terrible and I would never go there again.
