A quiet location but within reasonable travelling distance of Mykonos Town. This small hotel is very well appointed with high quality fixtures and fittings. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. The public areas are clean and attractive. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The management professional and efficient. The food is good but not yet to the standard the hotel would aspire to, although, it is getting there and I feel it could soon be exceptionable. A lovely, relaxing, high-quality, boutique hotel.
We travelled with Inspired Luxury Escapes and were pleased to be met at the airport and transported to the hotel in an air-conditioned taxi. On arrival at the hotel we were impressed by the building and the duty manager who met us. We were offered Champaign which, unfortunately, turned out to be a sparkling wine which was not Champaign! however it was a nice gesture. Our room was on the top floor which entailed climbing a flight of stairs, this was difficult for me because of a knee condition and so I was very grateful that the hotel transferred us to another room the very next day. A complimentary bottle of wine awaited us in the room. Our room was beautiful and spacious and had a private balcony. The bathroom was fully stocked with soap, shampoo etc. and the walk-in shower was large enough for both of us at the same time (one must conserve water!). Our room was cleaned to a very high standard and the towels were changed daily. The bed was very comfortable and the room also contained a safe, a tv and a music system. Throughout our stay the staff were very kind and extremely helpful which enabled us to have a very pleasant stay. We had booked to be half board (breakfast and dinner but dinner could be exchanged for lunch) and the food served to us was of a very high standard. All in all, we enjoyed our end of season stay and definitely would consider returning in the future.
we wanted a relaxing chilled quality break and we certainly got it with la residence, this a small hotel but you get quality and class with some of the best staff we have encountered anywhere, our room was large bright and had a stunnig balcony with views of the sea,the beach was 5 min walk with free sun beds and great swimming. there are a few chiil out bars and restraunts in walking distance, but very dark at night to walk back from, bus stop to Mykonos town only 5 min walk, the hotel is so good you wiil want to spend time around the pools and just relax after one of the best breakfasts we have had in a hotel served until 11.30. the eve meal is of fine dining style and is excellent apart from the choices available and the fact the same 3 choices comes round every couple of days, we had a great holiday at la residence and would recommend it for chilled out break if you are not after a party nightlife, we will be back.
For the end of season it was wonderful to see staff smiling, helpful and not waiting for the season to end. Meal times were most relaxed ie Breakfast till 11.00, dinner 7 to 11.00pm with lunch in-between if you wanted it. The pools were very refreshing but then it was October. Generally the sun was around, mid 20's, afternoons got breezy, but that seems normal whenever we have been on the coast in Greece. On arrival a bottle of wine to welcome you, halfway through another bottle was offered with fruit. And by the way this wine was the house wine, a merlot which is the first Greek wine I have really enjoyed, "Harmonia" The pool area was cleaned daily and our personal sunbeds cleaned and towels put out each morning. A most pleasant and enjoyable holiday.
La Residence is a really excellent small hotel. Our accommodation was large, extremely comfortable and very well maintained. It would have been good if an early morning tea or coffee tray was provided in the room. Breakfast and particularly dinner, were very good indeed, with 4 courses that were beautifully cooked and well presented. By far the best food we tasted on Mykonos. Most memorable were the staff who spoke good English and were, without exception, professional, charming and made us all feel most welcome. Our visit, in early October near the end of the season was quiet, with sunshine and quite strong winds for part of the time. There was some building work on adjacent sites, but this was not too intrusive. If we had been staying longer it might have been worth hiring a car, as the hotel is rather out of the way, but overall, we had a very enjoyable time. Chris S
We have just returned home from a wonderful 10 day holiday, we had a ground floor room with pool and loungers, what a fantastic time we had, all the staff were lovely and very professional and could not do enough for you, the food was excellent. Thank you Kiki your smile and fantastic service all help to make our holiday special, loved the breakfast cake
Super little hotel, with views to the sea and a great pool. Our bedroom on the first floor was compact with a small balcony, and well serviced. The staff, both front of house and in the restaurant, were friendly and helpful - a great team! Breakfast is good with cooked dishes as well as a buffet. We enjoyed our suppers with two choices of starter and main course plus a salad and a pudding, not 'fine dining', but good cooking. The prices of wine started at 26euros, it was a pity the bar prices were high as few guests seemed to congregate before or after supper. The mini-market near was a source of wines and snacks. The Kalafati beach is clean with course sand. Flat rocks at the edge followed by seaweed and then quite soon shelving down in depth - a pair of rubber shoes would be useful! There was building work going on during the day on sites around the hotel - but not over obtrusive. HINT. If Mykonos town is visited by bus, check the return bus times at the bus station. A two hour wait would cost a few drinks at a tavern, or a return taxi for 25 euros.
I spent 10 days in this beautiful location in the south of Mykonos island, and at the end I was crying!! The structure is so luxurious, the rooms are huge and very cleaned. I'm still dreaming of the breakfasts and diners in the open gallery... And last, but not least, a huge thank you to the nicer staff in the world: thank you Marianna, your laugh is still playing in my mind! Only one suggestion : PLEASE CHANGE THE GRINDERS FOR PEPPER AND SALT!!!
First the good stuff! The hotel is spotlessly clean. Towels are changed at least twice every day and beds and bedding are really clean and comfortable. We had a ground floor suite with a shared pool (shared with just two other couples) so could go straight out of bed for a swim. No 'bagging' sunbeds because we had our own in our own private area. Staff are all lovely. Nothing is too much trouble for them and we were made so welcome. Now the not so good! La Residence is half an hour out of town and buses are only every two hours so you do feel a bit isolated. Probably okay if you hire a car but we didn't take our driving licences - our fault obviously- so it wasn't an option for us. Kalafati beach is lovely but be warned! If you decide to go on the beach then sunbeds are 20 euros each to hire. Breakfast at La Residence is nothing spectacular but the Greek yogurt is good with local honey. Hot food is cooked to order but we never tried it as we're not big cooked breakfast fans. Other people told us it was nice. Evening meals are disappointing. There are no more than two choices of main course which is always a meat dish and a fish dish. Nothing for vegetarians. There is nothing inspiring about dinner at all. They also do an awful lot of puréed vegetables like puréed carrots or puréed spinach. It would have been nice to see proper chargrilled vegetables for a change! I see that some people grumble about the feral cats who hang around at mealtimes. To be honest if they bother you then don't go anywhere in Greece! There are feral cats everywhere, both here in Mykonos and every other Greek island. Poor little things have figured out that tourists are good for some free food and who can blame them?
Room was not ready on arrival. Put in a room which smelled of sewage. We was half board and food was average. Choice of evening meal poor. Breakfast average. If you wanted lunch menu which costs extra the variety is much better bearing in mind a club sandwich is 18 euros and burger is 22 euros. Vodka or gin tonic 10 euros. Bottle of water 5 euros and 250ml Diet Coke 4 euros. Evenings no entertainment and no bar to sit at and have a drink before evening meal or to be honest at anytime. One last thing if don’t like cats don’t come to la residence Mykonos as they frequent every meal time at the tables
