AC Hotel Murcia by Marriott4.0 out of 5.0

My goodness we had a room that had a see through shower cubicle right in the middle of the room. It was a lovely room but having the shower there was extremely odd Also the hotel surprisingly for a Marriott did not have a bar as such we actually walked past it and there wasn't much choice of drinks. Breakfast was good no cooked food but plenty of choice of pastries bread meats ect . It is also conveniently next to a tram station to get into town which was only a euro each. I would definitely stay again although will make a request for a private shower LOL
First off, Murcia is SO hard to get to! Why is it a destination? I arrived in Alicante at 23.00 hours and then had a 75€ taxi to Murcia! Then, the walls between rooms really are almost paper thin, and even with the door closed, I could hear everyone arriving to their rooms at least until 2.00 am! Breakfast was the typical low-cost cold breakfast (except this was not free!) and coffee was only the Nespresso coffee which meant I used 4 un-recyclable coffee pods (which means how much of this per day do they produce?), and the line for check out was loooong and no second person appeared to help the only person at the desk. For 80€ I expected a bit better... I won't be returning.
Very affordable rates and intelligently desugned rooms but no 24h hot in room dining, inventory of services not updated and outdated fitness facilities and small free parking lot are less impressive..
Every time I stay in Murcia I choose this hotel. People are amazing and they make you feel like you’re at home... that’s priceless. Cozy & modern, there’s nothing missing in the place, even swimming pool & gym. 100% recommendable.
I stayed here for a few nights on business. Firstly as most reviews say, do not pay for parking as there is plenty outside and along the roads for free. The hotel is fairly simple but has a good breakfast. I am a platinum member and was fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite. This was very large and even though it was next to the lift, I heard nothing. It also comes with free mini bar which is a nice touch. There is a gym and also an outdoor swimming pool (too cold in February). The breakfast is reasonable with the standard Spanish offering: meats, breads, cheeses and fruits. There are plenty of restaurants in the local area or the hotel is around 3km (2 miles) from the main centre. With the weather warm I walked it in 30 minutes. On a whole a good hotel and I would recommend.
AC Murcia was a perfect place to stay for work and for holiday. the lobby was clean and the staff was very friendly. The room was great with a modern style and all glass stand alone shower. the surrounding area was easily in walking distance.
Stayed one Saturday night booked off the Marriott website. Only €53 which is a steal. Disclaimer: I am a Marriott Platinum member. It's a modern hotel with ultra modern rooms. The first surprise is that the shower is in a glass cubicle in the 'middle of the room. They've done this, I suspect, (i) because it's modern and (ii) because it makes the room appear more spacious. It's a fancy shower and you can get water from all angles - a rain shower, a standard handset and then from the sides. Nothing wrong with the shower itself but housekeeping had left the shower on the handset and the handset pointing at the door. I turned on the shower and got a face full of water. Decent sized room. Desk, small wardrobe, sofa. Wifi worked well. Two things which were really annoying: 1. The bed (conformable enough) squeaked; 2. The toilet, in another darkened glass portioned area, only had an automatic light switch. So, if you got up in the middle of the night for a visit there was no way to stop the light turning on. These two issues (especially the squeaky bed which is not part of the design) caused me to knock off a star in the rating - down to 3*. However, our rate included breakfast and when reception understood we had to leave the hotel before breakfast started the next morning they arranged a take away breakfast. A sandwich, bottle of juice and water and a banana for us. So they get their star back ;-) The hotel is in the outskirts of town but there is a tram stop just across the road and this takes 10 mins (and ~€ 2.10) to get to the edge of the pedestrianised area which makes it another 10 mins walk to the cathedral down the main shopping street past the casino. The trams appear to run every 5-10 minutes. So getting into town is no big deal. Finally, don't pay the hotel for parking. There is plenty of street parking in the vicinity.
This hotel does not have a restaurant or even a grill although it says it is a quality hotel. The nearest restaurant is a taxi ride away.... Although on the web site it says it has a restaurant the reality is that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights it is closed. In a quality hotel to offer a small damp sandwich with cheap cheese and even cheaper ham for 10€ each does not hack it. The car parking is another 20€ and the entire place is pretentious for what in effect is a 1 or 2 star service. We only chose this hotel as we were tired and wanted to have a meal and go to bed. No meal and a damp sandwich does not hack it - will never stay here again.
Because Murcia it's not a tourist destination (in August almost all the restaurants are closed in the historical centre), staying more than 24 hours it is lost time. Nice hotel, nice staff, very clean, nice breakfast, easy to find free parking in front of the hotel. Safe area. And very cheap. Long distance to the centre (25 mins walk or take the tram for 2 stations(1,05 Eur) and 10 mins walk).
We stay there one night before.going to La Manga and it was very accesible to going to downtown. Nice service and a Goodrich breakfast although it is ten minutes from the. beateful Murcia catedral. An small swimming pool although it is open from 12.30
