Novum Hotel München Am Hauptbahnhof3.0 out of 5.0

Book elsewhere if you'd like access to wi fi for the duration of your stay. Book elsewhere if you prefer a quiet room and undisturbed sleep. If you have a room on the 7th floor, the lift only goes to the 6th floor. While this wasn't a huge problem for us, if you have mobility issues or very heavy luggage, this could be a problem for you. Some staff were helpful and courteous in dealing with the complete lack of wi fi on the 7th floor for over a day. However one young-ish woman on reception 19 Sept was quite rude and needs to attend some customer service training to improve her skills and manner. An especially helpful staff member was Frau Gomez; she was very courteous and this was much appreciated. All staff must appreciate that international travellers especially rely on wi fi to communicate with their families and also for work purposes. Rooms are basic, quite clean. There is a little lack of attention to some details such as used cups not being replaced, soap dispenser not being refilled, old beer bottles and cigarette butts on the window ledge (outside). This is a noisy hotel with even low level noise from adjoining rooms (such as the toilet, shower, someone speaking in a low voice, someone moving in bed, walking, etc.) being easily heard. Also noise from the hallway is very loud. Plus if your room faces the train station, there is that noise to contend with. There is no refrigerator in the room, no air cooling (just heating). Bed was comfortable. Thin towels. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. No, no Novum.
For staying in Munich, travellers should seriously consider the Novum am Hauptbanhof. The location is superb, just across Arnulfstrasse from the main railway station, itself a 40 minute train ride direct from the airport. It is also one of the cheaper alternatives in one of the more expensive cities. The rooms are adequate, with bed, shower and safe. There is no aircon, but this shouldn't be an issue for non-Americans. In September it was pleasant. The front desk staff are very helpful and the maids efficient. The breakfast is relatively expensive at about 14 Euros; there are plenty of cheaper alternatives within 5 minutes' walk. The décor is fresh and modern. The real plus of the Novum is its location. As well as being handy for the station it is inly 10-15 minutes' walk from the attractions of the old town.
Excellent location, clean room, comfortable bed, slightly too hot but didn't open the window because of the trams, very basic but you get what you pay for. Friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Very easy to find, right opposite the station.
If Munich is your first stop and you come from somewhere like Australia, do yourself a favour and do not stay here! The rooms are hot and stuffy making even jet-lagged napping impossible. If you open the window you're greeted by street noise. There is no air con and no fan available. If you do end up here, there is an electronic store (SATURN) on Neuhauser Str that sells USB powered fans. The staff cannot be faulted, they apologised for the heat on check in and the breakfast room was clean and food was generally very nice. In the room, it's almost like a different hotel. The carpet was dirty, leaving my barefeet blackened. It was dusty. The shower drain was blocked. I'm sure it'd be nice enough in the winter time, but simply not somewhere I'd ever stay again despite its low cost and good location. It's really closer to a two star than a three star.
Rooms were tidy and were kept clean, with fresh towels every day,The location was brilliant right in the center. The only downside was the lack of air con or fan,we had to leave our windows open all night which was not ideal as we were on the first floor. We would return to this hotel again but never in the summer.
We managed to find a brilliant deal for this hotel so cannot complain too much about what we got for the price. The location was excellent and the staff were friendly. However, as other have said when the weather is hot it is extremely uncomfortable to sleep in as there is no air-con or fans, and very noisy with the window open. For colder months this would make a great budget hotel.
It's such a shame really, the hotel is in a great location, BUT rooms really need a fan or some sort of ventilation as you can't sleep with the window open due to the local noise (opposite a train/police station) The curtains are an absolute joke, 3 pieces that had to be procariously layered to provide an attempt of sun blockout... Another fail really The staff are very approachable and did what they could to help, which sadly was actually nothing, though 1 young man did feel it his right to remind me of how many bottles of wine we had consumed over our stay (we needed it) The bathroom was without any sort of ventilation making it another miserably stuffy experience. The room we got admittedly was from a last minute deal, but even still, I did witness a couple storm out as their booked room looked nothing like the pictures suggest. Anyway if you like to rough it, you'll fit right in.
Better than average but doesn't make very good. Arrived late as flight didn't arrive until 2130 but excellent reception - very quick and easy. We were allocated a pleasant but small room and the main downside was lack of air conditioning. The location is very good - across the road from the main station and only a short stroll from the pedestrian area. Certainly worth considering if you are visiting Munich and have a limited budget.
The hotel is located just outside of the Central Train Station, which was extremely convenient. The staff was very friendly and did speak English. Average-sized rooms, but I can't complain with the price. There is no AC but does have a window you can open to cool the room down.
Pros: Location, central, across railway station Price Pretty impressive breakfast for its price Staff friendly and helpful Night club next door if u are a fan :-) Cons: Smallest room I ever been. But cant really complain, it was cheap. Cleaness could be improved , stain marks in the bathroom and in the room floors Nearby streets get busy with alcoholics in weekends, but they are pretty innofensive . For a 3 nights stay it was decent
