As the title suggests, you get what you pay for. I stayed for 3 nights and had a few dramas but nothing earth shattering. The price probably reflects the stay as: You could barely move in the shower it is that small The wifi was deplorable dropping in and out making it hard to book anything on my trip online My fan broke (no A/C) however it was replaced The cleaner came in on the 2nd day and when i arrived back at my room the door was left unlocked The t.v channels did not work - even after programming it myself No lift Now there were a few good points too: The bed was comfy enough The reception staff were friendly and helpful It was fresh and had looked like it was recently renovated Overall besides a few minor things, i certainly got what i paid for. If you don't need wifi during your stay and can put up with a room fan, this is a perfect budget option.
Was happy to find that the hotel and rooms were just as they were pictured. Had a room on the second floor and off the street. Yes, it was warm, but fans were provided in the room and we had a pleasant rest. Could not leave the window opened due to the restaurant smells - which some people may like. Looks to be located in "Red light" district, as per adjacent strip clubs. Very close to train station, easy to explore Munich. Highlight of trip was going to the huge park. Only stayed one night on way to Austria.
The room smelt like sewerage and the floor wasn't mopped. The staff were decent, although it isn't family friendly with drunks and strip clubs in the district. Although it is a convenient 2 min walk to the train station.
Overall the hotel was great. As an American we are accustomed to having A/C in our hotel rooms, these rooms do not. Just a little heads up, if you visit this hotel. Like most hotels it can be hit or miss to have air on. I slept with the door open as I like it cool when I'm crashed out for the night. I visited in May so it was beautiful day and night. Now for the down side. Munich (Munchen) has some not so great neighborhoods. This hotel is right on the edge of the not so good. Munich is a city so, like all cities they have their spots. I'm just gonna leave it as that. If you want specific details, message me and we can chat. I talked with some Munich PD officers and they had better areas to recommend. Hotel staff were top notch! Great people and very helpful!
It was a fantastic stay at Hotel S16. The room were clean and well maintained. It is at 2 min walk from the Munich main railway station and just walking steps from the U-Bahn terminal. It is a main city center. lots of Food outlets outside the Hotel. It is an ideal hotel accomodation for tourists in Munich. Full marks and value for money. It was cheap too.
I knew the room wouldn't be luxury but there were stains everywhere and I could barely move. The hotel itself is also like a really depressing hostel. I had to pay upfront for 3 days but I left within 10 minutes of seeing the room. I was polite at reception as there were other customers and I didn't want to make a scene. They told me to cancel through the booking website I'd used (Booking) even though I'd just paid on card. I did, it said I met the terms of the free cancellation. They charged my card and refused to pay back any of the 3 day stay. 1 night, I can understand. All 3 is totally unacceptable. Booking site were no help either. Don't stay here, there are about 5 other hotels on this road alone, they must be better than this.
This hotel is perfect for a 1 night stay. The room is very small, but clean. The bed is ok, where the rom has the size of the bed. A real surprise was the renovated shower with non-swinging temperature. In reneral the hotel seemed renovated and had a nice atmosphere. Coming back late at night showed however the hotel is located in a shimmy neighbourhood. The room was a bit noisy. You could hear a lot of noise of guests on the hall, where some of they were also loud and drunk.
We stayed at the Hotel S-16 in Munich this weekend (27 - 29 January 2017). I must say that it was a really bad experience since there was not hot or warm water in the shower!! We reported that already on Saturday and the receptionist did not do any effort to resolve the issue and did not give us any alternative solution. I find it UNACCEPTABLE that it January with outside temperature -5 degrees, they are not able to deliver hot water for all the weekend! So, I guess they just do not care about the guests! It is not excusable and it is also very sad that hotel does not do anything to compensate this issue. It should be automatic to compensate the clients for missing basic service!
After hearing that hotel prices in Munich were extortionate, I was willing to 'slum it' a bit. This hotel is a great price, and is definitely not on the 'slum it' level. The room was huge, the beds comfy, the bathroom modern and clean - what more could you want? And the location was extremely central - about 5 mins walk from the main railway station. The wifi wasn't great, but that was the only down-side. Be warned that you may see a sight or two walking down this street, as I believe this was the red-light district...
Great location with friendly staff. The room was basic however it was clean, comfortable & quiet (we requested a quiet room). Other reviews mention that the location is unsafe however I never felt unsafe and we often returned to the hotel late at night. The only downsides were the bathroom was a little small and the internet did not work.
