This is a tourist attraction as much as a hotel. It is so busy that the overall experience is a bit like staying at an up-market airport terminal. Much of the ground floor is given over to upscale shopping, it hosts half a dozen functions every day and there are incredibly loud parties in the ballroom at weekends that make half the hotel shake. The rooms can be a little tired around the edges. There are so many five star options in Mumbai these days that I just don't think the Taj is worth the premium.
