What a wonderful setting close to Johannesburg but at the same time in the country. Hidden amongst trees and shrubs that make up the botanical gardens, it must be one of the most peaceful settings I have found a hotel. However the stay was not as pleasant as hoped due to the large conferences taking place. The noise from the disco that took place on the Thursday night was not acceptable and surely management must sound proof the venues. Admittadly the hotel did move us to another room after 11pm but this was only I had complained to reception. They had informed me that the music and noise would stop at 0100!! Does management not realsise there are other guests who have travelled thousands of miles and need rest, or that we have shosen this hotel for its advertised peace and quiet. Even the new upgraded room had its problems and it semms that it was years since maintenance had been done. The bath had been resprayed to re-enamel it but this was peeling badly in our room to the extent you could not use the bath. The shower handles had 1 "arm" missing off both taps. The sheets had holes in them. The list goes on. Not impressed at all by this. Yet the staff are outstanding. Polite and well mannered. Always to try to please.
What a lovely 10th wedding anniversary weekend! We stayed in one of the Royal Suites & were treated like VIP'S from beginning to end. Our suite was beautifully kept, spacious & our bed was so comfy, we almost did not want to get up every morning. A special thank you to Ereka Swanepoel who went out of her way to help us with all arrangements, she walked the extra mile for us as guests. We had a romantic surprise dinner in the wine cellar. All the staff were friendly, helpful & courteous. The food was delicious & the portions were more than adequate. We enjoyed the tranquillity of the whole environment, which added to our relaxing weekend. Although it was a chilly Autumn weekend we felt warm & cozy in our suite, hotel lounge & dining areas. This hotel is only a few kilometres out of the city, yet it feels like you are miles away in the beautiful country side. We have been to Misty Hills in the past & will go there again in the future. We highly recommend all local & international guests to stay at this beautiful country hotel.
Great conference venue and get away spot. The rooms are clean and the food is good. My only concern was that the restaurant chairs was not comfortable. The service from the staff was awesome and very friendly. Also one of the best massages i have ever had.
My birthday was last week and my girlfriend decided to surprise me with a romantic getaway in a place that seemed like a little piece of paradise! The staff were absolutely graceful and kind and were ever ready to make sure we were comfortable and had all that we would need. Our room was great, an outside shower to add a little extra to our beautiful secluded spot, rose petals to pull off the romantic aspect and a delicious dawa to quench our thirst! We had dinner at the Carnivore which was definitely one for the books, truly makes you appreciate our rich African culture right here at our finger tips. The following day we spent the day lying by the pool enjoying drinks and each others company which ended our trip perfectly. I am so thankful to each and every person who we had the privilege to meet at our time in Misty, you guys are great! See you soon
I visited Misty Hills just last week to surprise my love for his birthday and what was expected to be a little getaway from our busy lives turned out to be the most magical two days hidden deep within our breathtaking African surroundings! We started off our day with a relaxing massage at the spa, surrounded by the friendliest, warmest smiles from the staff and a garden with the most tranquil waterfall. From there we made our way to reception where the helpful staff assisted me to execute my plan to surprise my boyfriend with a night away nestled deep in what looked like nature at its finest. Our room was an executive suite and was absolutely beautiful! We were welcomed with a thoughtful platter of snacks and rose petals strewn effortlessly across the bed. Although it was his birthday Misty managed to get me so excited too! During the day we enjoyed our new absolute favourite drink- a dawa at the Gin box and later that evening we headed to Carnivore for dinner. If you're searching for an African experience that mesmerizes the taste buds- you cannot go wrong with Carnivore, the food was absolutely delectable! Your world class hotel and warm Misty family perfectly balances the essence of untouched nature and sophistication in a such beautiful space. Samantha, Segametsi, Andile and so many others I have no words to express my appreciation for the time and care taken to make his birthday one to remember. You will definitely see our faces again!
Wow, I must stay we were blown away by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff all the way, in particular, Nicole, Sabrina, Linda, Sego, and the restaurant staff. Rooms were peaceful, lean and well laid out. Food was fantastic, the gardens were peaceful, even though the getting around the place is a little of a maze, it just adds to the fun and enjoyment of the gardens. The Spa was awesome, As well as Samantha, and her staff at the spa! I will definitely come back to have more treatments done here. The products were also amazing!
Me and my fiance spend an amazing weekend at Misty Hills. We were blown away by the tranquil gardens with exquisite bronze sculptures and countless waterfalls designed that the sound of water follows one wherever you walk. Our executive room catered for all our needs. We enjoyed the extra large bathroom and outside shower in our own little private garden. The reception with its elegant Victorian and Balinese furniture and beautiful art pieces is a lust for the eye. Breakfast was to die for and I am still searching for words to describe the 7 star dinner we had at The Carnivore Restaurant. What a vibe and delicious food! The spa with an indoor pool attract me like a magnet. We were impressed by the huge lapa with barbeque facilities, ideal for a birthday celebration. As we travel quite a lot we can say with honesty that the friendliness of the managers and staff was the best we have ever experienced. Misty Hills is a must to visit.
Booked in on a Saturday, stayed the night and left after a fantastic breakfast. The room was very comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely gardens. All the rooms are surrounded by shrubs and plants.
My wife and I got married in the Elephant Room at Misty Hills in February 2016. We returned there on Easter weekend 2017 and stayed in the same room (honeymoon suite 900) as we did on our wedding night, but this time we had our 5-month old son with us. The venue supplied us with a camp-cot and baby friendly products, as well as the best service, food and pricing. Dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant was amazing and the breakfasts and room-service food from the kitchen was just as great. This venue is highly recommended for any couple/family retreats to get away from the city, without having to travel too far. Will definitely return and will suggest Misty Hills to all our friends and family.
This is my fifth visit to Misty Hills and each time I am blown away by how much better it gets. Just when you think it can't get any better, it does. The hotel itself is an African experience and the service is outstanding. The restaurants serve incredibly delicious food presented in a beautiful manner. And I had the best massage ever at the spa.
