This Hotel is situated in a Botanical Garden, where the Bungalows (or Huts) are spread over a big area. I visited during the local Winter (July), and even though I knew it was going to be relatively Cold, I was surprised that even my room (Bungalow) was not heated properly. I'm sure it is much better in the summer, but I was cold for a whole week there. The Area as well as the Room itself is very nice, and it's quite a big room. I just wish I'd brought some warmer clothes for the evenings and nights.
I went to Misty hills country hotel with my friend, wow little did i know that we would be treated like queens. As a mom always taking care of things at home. For the change misty hills staff took good care of us. Our room was spotless yes they expected us and made it a point that we feel as comfortable as possible. At some stage I thought it was just only the two of us and Misty Hills staff. But when went went for supper I then realized that there is a a lot of people here. But it is so quite so peaceful. Its a place to be, especially when you want to relax. The food was good, you eat as much as you can stomach it. There is no limit. Room service wow these guys love their jobs. Thanks Samatha for giving us the opportunity to dream and be spoilt.
My husband and I were extremely tired and we felt a weekend break was much deserved and needed. We chose this hotel because of its ideal location and the services offered. From check in we were completely blown away with the beauty and service we received. In our room the bed had two swans made from towels and was covered with rose petals, we had some sparkling wine and treats that on its own set the mood for relaxation. The room was spacious and clean. The highlight of our stay was The Carnivore experience, the music at the restaurant was Afro pop infused with Nordic lounge which I love. The food was amazing, meat was tasty, succulent and there was a variety of meats. The staff really works as a team. Later in the evening we were treated to some African songs with drums by the staff and the patrons joined in to dance and sing along. The breakfast is vast as one is spoilt for choice. To round up our stay we visited the spa for a treatment. The staff was professional and the ambiance there was beautiful. I recommend one to bring their bathing suit as there are two pools in the property. This was by far the best stay I have had in any hotel in Johannesburg and for that it deserves a 5 star rating. Its relaxing and therapeutic.
We had an amazing time - the support from enquiry to conclusion of our event was beyond what we received from other venues around Johannesburg. Leanda and her team delivered on their promise and our students were blown away by the beauty of the venue. Affordable, high class and so beautiful. Will come again next year, if they will have us.
Being in Johannesburg this place is a bit of tranquillity in between the hustle and the bustle of everyday life. You are totally taken away from the busyness of the world as this hotel is tucked away. I have been here a few times before but this is my first review. My mom and I booked ourselves into the spa on my 30th birthday. We made this booking a month or so in advance. The greetings at the reception was friendly and peaceful. Whilst completing the questionnaire we had a coffee to wake up the senses. As this was on a Friday the spa was quiet. I booked a hot stone massage with a french paraffin dip and manicure and pedi. The spa therapists were friendly and the massage was truly amazing! My mom was so relaxed that she fell asleep! Then the lunch. What a disappointment. I knew that the lunch at the spa wasn't up to standard but this was a real let down. Both of us had salad which was ok but the dessert was the worst! It was a cold, old creme brulee. As if they made it a week before. It was like sweetened scrambled eggs. And the juice you could taste was not fresh. Then we went for our pedi and mani. Although the paraffin dip was relaxing the actual mani and pedi was painful and poorly done. They didn't do a french mani and pedi as requested and the therapist that did my moms mani filed almost through the nails! Really poorly done. That evening we went to the first gin tasting evening at the Gin Box. In short, great evening and great food but really requires a bit more of organization. The evening was a bit awkward but as this was the first evening they have done something like this, I would not be too harsh with my critique. In all the spa is voted the 5th best in South Africa, so you would expect a bit more finesse and care. I have been to the spa before but this time it was a great let down. It is the small things that make an experience great.
This place is just a few minutes from Johannesburg and it is tucked away in Muldersdrift. The food, decor and ambience is out of this world. The rooms setup and the trees just compliments everything. Customer service was beyond my expectation, everything was tops.
What a wonderful setting close to Johannesburg but at the same time in the country. Hidden amongst trees and shrubs that make up the botanical gardens, it must be one of the most peaceful settings I have found a hotel. However the stay was not as pleasant as hoped due to the large conferences taking place. The noise from the disco that took place on the Thursday night was not acceptable and surely management must sound proof the venues. Admittadly the hotel did move us to another room after 11pm but this was only I had complained to reception. They had informed me that the music and noise would stop at 0100!! Does management not realsise there are other guests who have travelled thousands of miles and need rest, or that we have shosen this hotel for its advertised peace and quiet. Even the new upgraded room had its problems and it semms that it was years since maintenance had been done. The bath had been resprayed to re-enamel it but this was peeling badly in our room to the extent you could not use the bath. The shower handles had 1 "arm" missing off both taps. The sheets had holes in them. The list goes on. Not impressed at all by this. Yet the staff are outstanding. Polite and well mannered. Always to try to please.
What a lovely 10th wedding anniversary weekend! We stayed in one of the Royal Suites & were treated like VIP'S from beginning to end. Our suite was beautifully kept, spacious & our bed was so comfy, we almost did not want to get up every morning. A special thank you to Ereka Swanepoel who went out of her way to help us with all arrangements, she walked the extra mile for us as guests. We had a romantic surprise dinner in the wine cellar. All the staff were friendly, helpful & courteous. The food was delicious & the portions were more than adequate. We enjoyed the tranquillity of the whole environment, which added to our relaxing weekend. Although it was a chilly Autumn weekend we felt warm & cozy in our suite, hotel lounge & dining areas. This hotel is only a few kilometres out of the city, yet it feels like you are miles away in the beautiful country side. We have been to Misty Hills in the past & will go there again in the future. We highly recommend all local & international guests to stay at this beautiful country hotel.
Great conference venue and get away spot. The rooms are clean and the food is good. My only concern was that the restaurant chairs was not comfortable. The service from the staff was awesome and very friendly. Also one of the best massages i have ever had.
My birthday was last week and my girlfriend decided to surprise me with a romantic getaway in a place that seemed like a little piece of paradise! The staff were absolutely graceful and kind and were ever ready to make sure we were comfortable and had all that we would need. Our room was great, an outside shower to add a little extra to our beautiful secluded spot, rose petals to pull off the romantic aspect and a delicious dawa to quench our thirst! We had dinner at the Carnivore which was definitely one for the books, truly makes you appreciate our rich African culture right here at our finger tips. The following day we spent the day lying by the pool enjoying drinks and each others company which ended our trip perfectly. I am so thankful to each and every person who we had the privilege to meet at our time in Misty, you guys are great! See you soon
