Mercure Nelspruit Hotel3.0 out of 5.0

The hotel is literally 10 steps away from I'langa Mall. I love that I can go shopping, cross a small alley and back to the accomodation. I would like to come back in the future since I will be going to Nelspruit many times more but the carpets, curtains were so dusty, they make the sole of your feet black, no slippers. And with children, they sit n roll all over the floor. Same issue with my friends' room. Another thing, the room is not reasonably soundproofing (or Nelspruit is way too quiet?) . My toddler woke me up at early dawn, I could hear disturbing noises from the floor above.
My overall experience wasn't very good, especially taken into consideration that the hotel is a Mercure Hotel. Reception and staff was very friendly. The hotel's overall impression was good. The problem started with the accommodation. The suite where I stated was dated and the airconditioner wasn't working properly. I had to request every day for the replenishing of the the milk, coffee and sugar and still it wasn't replaced. I had to go the local convenient store to buy milk and sugar in order for me to have coffee. The hotel is excellently situated; close to a mall with restaurants and entertainment. It is very accessable from the main road and is idealy situated for business and holiday travellers. The stoep of the room was never cleaned in the three days that I stayed there and looking at the dirt on the stoep it seems that it hasn't been cleaned for days
price and location wise, this is an amazing hotel. the issue is the amount of people drinking hardcore alcohol at the pool area and being visibly drunk in front of minor children also, there were ladies dressed like prostitutes at the waiting area at 4pm - IN BROAD DAYLIGHT I am no longer impressed and would not recommend this hotel to families
We where welcomed with very friendly staff at the reception, the foyer is very impressive. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the management might need to take a look at the shower doors. All in all a good clean comfortable stay for r the price.
What a rubbish hotel where do I start ? Key card didnt work had to go back to reception, no tv remote, no aircon remote, bathroom lights not working, fridge all wonky missing a foot, safe broken whole locking mechanism missing, drawers broken, no hair drier, telephone cord wall plug cover missing, hotel is grubby, no wifi in my room 402, sis man and you so happy to take my money upfront ? Absolutely disgusting!!!!
It is situated in a good location across from the Shopping Mall. We specifically stayed here so we could get internet access to book more accomodation in Kruger. After 3 trips back and forth to reception with no luck we were able to hook up in a cafe across the road the next day. The place has space, but it has been run down, they are not & haven't spent any money on upgrading, which is a shame because in it's prime it would be marvelous. Our room was a little dusty & you wouldn't sit on the carpets, even the upholstery on the lounge was average. The linen was clean & so was the bathroom. We went to inspect the buffet for dinner but decided against it as unappetising. It is obvious the place needs an injection of cash to lift it up to its previous standard.
Not sure if the address for this hotel has changed, but the Mercure Hotel is now in Penny Gum street in Nelspruit. The rooms are large, the beds are satisfactory and so is the bathrooms. The breakfast was very good as well. I am not sure why I do not give it 4 stars, but it is probably the fact that the rooms felt old and the whole interaction with the staff never felt inviting.
Room was clean, staff are professional and nice but maintenance is a negative issue. Bathroom was with light problem, solved after my claim. Rooms close to Gas Station are noisy! I remember old times when everything was new and nice at Mercure and was a must to stay there with wife and kids.
We stayed in a self-catering unit. 2 bedrooms, big bathroom with shower & bath, lounge and fully equipped kitchen. Nothing was wrong... beds were comfortable, linen was clean. Staff / Reception professional and friendly. Only negative was that when we returned on the Saturday afternoon, our unit's door was left open - but the positive side is that nothing was missing! Wonderful - couldn't believe it, but it is true. Have booked already for next year.
Gated hotel on the outskirts of town, with self-catering apartments, which are large but not very well-kept. Staff businesslike and seem not entirely helpful. Good for a place to sleep but not much else.
