Whenever we are in town we always stay here! It's accessible to last minute things at Walmart. Easy on and off. Perkins is right next door for food. The general manager is the best I've met. Great hotel!
This hotel isn't bad but the "executive" room has nothing executive about it. I didn't even have a comfortable chair to sit in. All they had was a small table (not a desk as stated) with 2 uncomfortable chairs. It's a shame but i wont stay here again because how uncomfortable i was all night. It's nice they offer free dinner and breakfast and the bed was OK. I wasn't offered any upgrades as a platinum member, instead they tried to get me to spend an extra 70 bucks to get a room with a chair and/or couch. That room sat empty and i am leaving with a bad taste in my mouth!
My family and I stayed here recently while in Virginia for a reunion. The staff were very friendly and the rooms bright and spacious. A nice breakfast buffet was included, a particular favorite aspect being the 3D Pancake Printer, mostly for novelty's sake. Weekdays at 5pm there is a pleasant reception with snacks to which all guests are invited. A little shop off the office has lots of food items, drinks, and supplies at reasonable prices and each room has a mini fridge and microwave. Super comfy beds! Nice swimming pool and hot tub area too. Good place to stay with family—
I stay here at least fifteen times a year. Never ever had an issue! The staff, the breakfast, the rooms are all second to none. Every day at five pm they serve munchies and a free beverage of your choice. Honestly you could make this your dinner for the night. Great place to stay...
This is the only place I will stay when I'm do work in Virginia and any other city. They have a point system where you can earn points for free stays. I get a great CLEAN room every time. The staff is great and personable. Each day at 5pm they serve beer and finger food items for their guests.
Easy to find, close to Wal Mart and Perkins, and off a main road. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is FAR exceeded our expectations, WOW! So many options. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.
Check in was easy and the attendant asked what brought up here and had a nice chat with him on hunting in the area. The room was conveniently on the first floor near pool and exercise room. The room was large, sun shining in through the window, bathroom was clean and easy to get around in. I liked the comfort of the room and ease of getting on internet. Also in the draw was a Bible that used to work on my Bible Studies while there. Thanks Gideons. I was able to get to the large pool and hot tub easily. It was all clean and pleasant. I also used the exercise room, which had alot of equipment in it for the size of the room, even a scale!!! Breakfast was good. We were especially pleased that there was yogurt and milk, fruit available when my husband left at 6 for the woods. It looked like a big assortment of pancakes, scrambled eggs, gravy, breads, muffins. I stuck with yogurts and banana and oatmeal. I was pleased with that. There was a Walmart, Maurices, Famous Footwear, hair salon, Perkins within a block , so could easily walk to those businesses. On a fun note.....Famous Footwear was having there grand opening and I stood in line for a free pair of shoes $60. We have stayed here before and will come again.
My girlfriend and I were passing thru on our way back from visiting family in Milwaukee. I try to when I can to stay up in the Iron Range. It's always very pretty up there. I originally wanted to stay at the Super 8 at Eveleth but they were booked full. Last year I stayed there around this same time and really liked it cuz they decorated their entire front lawn with pumpkins and at night they turn on lights inside them and looks way cool! Anyway, enough bragging about a competitors location, this location Holiday Inn was equally nice. Upon arrival, our check-in was very pleasant and pain-free. Our room was clean, comfortable, cozy and quiet(most importantly since we were on the road driving for about 8+ hours). All furnishings were in good condition with no problems. The bathroom was clean as well. Not very many eateries to choose from around the area. Even though neither my girlfriend nor I are handicapped, this was the first time I had such a room with a handicapped access shower. I really liked it, just walked right in shower with no tub walls. Very nice! We were unable to take advantage of the breakfast the following morning due to a very early departure to enjoy the dining area that screamed out Iron Range decor! The staff of this motel was very friendly and overall very nice place to stay. We would come back here again!!!!!
Check-in was friendly and very fast, the assigned room matched my preferences. The room was great, comfortable, super spacious, with an extended part right after the door, which provided lots of space to put down your luggage. The bathroom was spacious and bright. Everything was in good shape and clean. At check-in they told me there was a manager's reception going on that afternoon, which was an unexpected surprise. They had a "great room" that was really great, which they use for receptions and breakfasts. They offered snacks and drinks, one drink of beer and wine was complimentary for IHG Rewards members. It was very nice and the girl providing it was friendly and polite. My only advice is - if the purpose of these receptions is for people to socialize and have a good time - give them refills of drinks. This "one glass per rewards membership" rule is a bit odd, goes against the purpose of the social ... Went to use the pool, which I found in great shape, very clean and it was magnificent lying in the hot tub during sunset. Breakfast in the morning was ready on time and provided by a friendly attendant. I also noticed they were obviously in the process of changing mattresses in some rooms, which is always a good sign as it shows they aren't waiting for them to get run down and overused. This was probably my best HIE stay on my last 22-night trip.
My wife and I stayed one night on a Saturday. Check-in is at 3:00 and we got there about 3:30. We did have to wait a couple of minutes for a person to come to the check-in desk but after that is was quick and efficient. She quickly told us where the room was and what time breakfast was in the morning. The room was very nice with 1 king sized bed a comfortable chair and a desk with an office chair. The room had a mini fridge and microwave. The room was quite clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were a bit disappointed at the breakfast as a lot of the food was lukewarm at best. The selection was very good but having room temp scrambled eggs and sausage is not idea. We did not try the pancake machine but I would bet that is a hit with the kids. It looks like they are in the processing of updating at least the beds as there were a number of people picking up queen sized beds when we were checking out. Lodging on the Iron Range is not plentiful and is not cheap but this Holiday Inn is a good choice. Now if only the breakfast hot foods were actually hot
