Best Western Golden Spike Inn & Suites

This motel should be the standard that other motels use to judge themselves by. The management was very helpful and friendly, the room was the cleanest we have been in so far on our trip. We had made plans to stay more than one night in Hill City, South Dakota and now I wish we had stayed several more. With areas like the Little Bighorn Battle Field near by (Montana), Devil's Tower in Wyoming, and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota one will never be too far away from things to see and do.

We loved the location of Spike Inn and we loved the hotel! The room was so spacious, clean, and comfortable. We were accommodated with a first floor room last minute with no problem when we checked in. The breakfast buffet opened up early...I think 6...so we could get an early start to all of the great sites and parks. The buffet had a nice spread of breads, eggs, yogurt, breakfast meats, fruit, coffee/ tea of course, cereals, and juices. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was a refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. All of these things added up to a great stay! Thank you all at the Best Western Spike Inn.

Quiet, plenty of parking, clean and friendly hosts. Just make sure you eat dinner before 9pm because that is when the sidewalks roll up and everything closes.

I liked the location and I would stay there again. The hotel sits near the end of E. Main St., and that makes it a very peaceful place to begin and end a day of exploring. All of the activity in town happens about 1/2 mile away. Our room was on the second floor and it had been recently updated. Whoever performed the work did a nice job with the fit and finish. Queen size beds were comfortable, and each bed had four pillows. The room had a sofa, and two chairs for sitting around a small coffee table, a dorm room sized refrigerator (no freezer), and a small, microwave oven. There are two televisions; one in the seating/living area and one in the sleeping area. The internet worked with no complaints. There is a free breakfast served from 0630 to 0930. The breakfast contains plenty of food, good hot coffee, tea, juice or water, and we found the wait staff to be pleasant and cheerful. The indoor pool and hot tub were comfortable.

This like-new facility is convenient to both Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse. Beautiful indoor pool & hot tub. Includes nice breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs & ham & friendly hostess keeping things in order with a smile to start your day. Enjoyed walleye dinner at nearby cowboy-themed Desperados also in Hill City.Hotel restautrant not open yet when we were there in mid-May. dinner

We had a great time. We didn't realize how close it was to everything we wanted to see! We were traveling with one of our german shepherds- and it worked out great for her also. We did eat most of our meals off site however.

It was very good good clean room right next to pool nice free breakfast

We stayed in room with two queen beds. Added a roll away and still had plenty of room to walk around and for all five suitcases. Convenient to many area attractions .

Great stay and great customer service. Dennis was very helpful.

Great location to visit Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and Custer State Park. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was a bit dated and not as nice as we expected. Didn't use the pool or fitness center, so, we can't comment on that. The breakfast was okay but we expected better based on previous reviews.

Came with my family to experience Mt Rushmore and the location made that easy for us to do. Very clean and continental breakfast was awesome ! Great homemade coffee cake:)

We were very happy and had no complaints what so every with this facility. Our room was within 30 feet of the pool and exercise facilities. The room was clean with a frig. and microwave. The room that we were in opened to the outside, but there were some rooms that opened to the inside as well. If you prefer a room that opens to the inside I would request that when booking. They have a morning breakfast buffet that was pretty good. If I were asked to rate it I would say that the breakfast buffet was average.

Staff was very helpful and friendly and early check in was a breeze. The location was really quiet. So, I was able to have a relaxing time.

The staff were helpful, the pool great and the Mother's Day brunch at the restaurant on site was okay, though our server was excellent. The only real complaint was the heating unit in the room, it was absolutely, utterly, incredibly NOISY, we all slept very little that evening!

Location of hotel was good for seeing the Mt. Rushmore area. The room was spacious, but the bathroom (toilet & tub/shower) was quite tight - the sink was outside of the bathroom. The service was very good - everyone was very congenial. However, the food left a lot to be desired, but it wasn't costly. My husband's dinner (beef frajitas) looked like road kill - all dried out. I'd skip the buffet for breakfast, as it was either dry or from a package & tasteless. Ordering separate items from the menu was a better choice, even tho' not fantastic. However, one thing amazed us out at other restaurants - no one served vegetables except for potatoes & a wedge of iceberg lettuce w/dressing.

We could not have had a better accomodation, our room was perfect. The restaurant, coffee shop/bakery and check-in and shop were all pretty, and very handy for our needs. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there agan!

The staff could not have ben more hospitable and friendly. The dining was excellent and the room service was good. Comfort and care were certainly displayed by the staff who always conveyed they were there to serve the needs of guest. I would return again and would refer others to your establishmnet.
