I stayed with my 2 young children, 3 and 5. We all had an awesome stay. The cottage had absolutely everything and the wood heater warmed the whole house. Heaps of room, parking areas, outdoor area with BBQ, dishwasher and washing machine and full kitchen with breakfast provided. The best place to stay in Mt Gambier.
My wife and I stayed here for a very relaxing weekend recently. It is about a 10 minute walk to the blue lake. Simon and Jen were really friendly and great to talk to. They even let us borrow some folding chairs to take to a concert. Brekky was good too. Made us feel right at home. Thanks guys.
Loved it, stayed here for 3weeks last February 2016 and was very well looked after, the accommodation was very clean and tidy. Mr Simon Browning also took me sight seeing and I think he would also make a great tourist guide. Thank you for making my stay excellent
Great service lovely setting breakfast supplies and a special restoration with no effort spared we had no idea it would be as good. You could never tell from outside the wonders to discover inside. Even wine to buy!
My daughter and I spent a perfectly comfortable one night stay in the refurbished "Stable" cottage. Simon was there to greet us warmly to a cottage steeped in charm and comfort, with all the modern convenience, but still with its delightful period character. It was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and utterly charming. Quiet, cosy, nicely located, everything hit the spot for us. The well equipped kitchen was stocked with breads, bacon, eggs, and everything we needed for a cooked breakfast before hitting the road again. A lovely stay and highly recommended.
My husband and l stayed in the cottage which was spotlessley clean with fresh linen and a comfy bed. Its a very cosy place complete with working log fire and garden to the rear. Our reception upon arrival couldnt have been better.. everything you need is provided, all you have to bring is your clothes. Such attention to detail has been given by the owners, from fruit on the table, milk in fridge, to shampoo and conditioner and everything in-between. What a gem of a find, so close to all the main attractions, as well as a large choice of restaurant's and eateries nearby. Would definately stay again if we return. My only suggestion would be a secure fence around the garden so that our dogs remained safe without being kept on a leash, but im told its something they are working on doing! So huge thumbs up from us!
This place is loaded with character and style beautiful furniture throughout ,large rooms comfortable beds quality linen ,and hosts that could not be anymore friendly and welcoming ,2 very comfortable lounge areas where you can read a book or watch TV,great ambiance throughout the whole house, excellent location ,walking distance only 10 mins to the centre of town and similar distance to one of Mt Gambier's main tourist attractions, the Blue Lake, highly recommend
Stopped here for the night on the way to Victoria and had a quiet restful night. We were well looked after by host Simon who made us cups of tea and told us some of the history of the property. There are 3 bedrooms and a shared bathroom upstairs and I think there is another bedroom and a bathroom on ground floor. As we were the only guests upstairs we chose the largest room which was very comfortable. The bathroom was large and shower was hot. The house is decorated in original furniture which gives it a quaint and cosy feel. Do not stay here if you want modern and trendy - this stay is for lovers of Australian Art Deco style bungalow.
Most welcoming house - and landlord! Beautiful furniture, decent sized rooms, great grounds and retreat areas. There are two bathrooms (upstairs & downstairs). There is some dust and the odd cobweb that could be easily removed, and most likely will be after this review. Breakfast was provided and set out for us for an early exit. Most charming place and deserved its place in "Home Beautiful 1928".
We enjoyed Colwyn Cottage. The cottage has genuine style and character for a house of its era, and clearly was built to provide comfort. The owner can provide you an article from Australian Home Beautiful, in which it won the "The best little home I know" competition in 1928, and is the subject of the article... our bedroom was downstairs, with 4-poster queen bed, with easy access to an expansive bathroom, but also easy access to 2 sitting rooms, one with TV. The bedroom was sizeable, like all the rooms... we really were looking for a place to put our heads down only, as we were "touring through" and get back on the road. Looked like there were facilities outside, like barbecue, for instance, so we might have been able to experience more aspects of the best little home. Our host was very friendly...and thank you to our host!... as it turned out it ended up a simple matter to have a little breakfast with our host, and so we also ended up with some additional useful tips on getting around to the local sites of interest to us....
