The only thing I would say or recommend would be to not have the over powering bleach smell when you walk into the hotel. The place is very clean just too over powering. The staff were VERY NICE....
Clean place with good amenities. Day manager was obviously very sick w a bad cold, coughing and sniffling but serving breakfast foods without gloves. Should have worn a mask, too. Nice pool but unable to use with 20 screaming 10 year old girls playing volleyball. Only 3 adults watching. One had a puppy at poolside. Hot tub and dry sauna barely warm from girls going in and out.
I booked directly with hotel website a big room 1 month before our arrival date. Drove with my 2 young kids 300 miles in the Rocky Mountains to Montrose Colorado for a soccer tournament. Re confirm and modify my reservation 2 days before my arrival date directly with hotel . Got to hotel super tired at 9.30 pm to find out that they sold my room to someone else . Excuses and excuses .. town was full so they gave me a small room with one king bed . Second floor , no elevator and room smelled like cigarettes. Bed dirty , blood stains on bed cover. Had to spray with Lysol all the room . Didn’t sleep in 2 nights !!!!! Ask hotel for a discount or a free night . New manager Roxy asked the owner and he said no!!! I’m a business woman and travel all over the world , this never happened to me before. Terrible terrible old place to stay . Paid $90 per night ... When I travel with my kids I want peace and a good relaxed place . Doesn’t matter if a fancy or simple place. And I want to feel appreciated for my business... This place is a mess and ownership is rude . Will never stay there again ...
Overall this hotel was clean, and good value. However after a long drive we arrived to find the manager who checked us in, was very grumpy and unhelpful Got the impression he'd rather not be there. Had a good nights sleep in the comfortable bed. But at breakfast the electric kept going off when trying to use the toaster and the sausages were underdone.
Stayed for one night while visiting national park nearby. Price was right, but apparently you get what you pay for. Room needed some cleaning and updates. Building security was poor as access doors to indoor hallway area (via which guests accessed their rooms) did not have operable locks. This was somewhat unnerving. Also, parking space were blocked by a motor home and a truck that were parked across diagonally across multiple parking space. Poor signage for hotel along roadway.
The hotel itself was ok, the sheets were clean, carpets could have been cleaner, the AC could have been less noisy, the pillows could have been less lumpy, the shower could have drained better, they could've have provided more than 2 hangers, they could've re-filled the breakfast items but to their credit they did have a hot breakfast for the early birds. The part that was appalling is how poorly they handled their communication around the nightly rate. I booked the hotel a few days in advance via an app, which didn't allow me to change the number of guests to beyond the default 1. So immediately after booking I called to update the number and inquired if there was any impact on the rate. The hotel confirmed that there wasn't and that the number of guests were updated. There was no change in this message in the intervening days until check in. At check also, which was very late in the night, they checked in me and didn't highlight any change in the rate. At check out a bill under the door which reflected a rate 25% higher than the confirmed rate. When I spoke to the front desk about it, the lady there agreed that she was the one that had confirmed the initial rate and updated the reservation over the phone, and that she had neglected to tell me about the rate increase. I explained that had she told me about the rate increase it would have allowed me to shop for other options. She apologized but said she was too busy to do anything about it and that she would bring it up with her manager later in the day. I called Wyndham customer care and they said the local management has to resolve it and that they emailed them. There has been no resolution so far, it's been a few days now. I stuck to more professional hotel chains for many years now, and this experience has reminded me why. It worth paying a little more for a holiday inn or a marriott/spg property. A Wyndham property is going to charge you the difference anyway since they don't honor their reserved rates. Avoid.
Stayed one night on a 14 day road trip. This inn fit the bill for us very well. We were passing thru Montrose on our way to Cortez. Room was nice and clean. We got sandwiches at the Arby's next door. We used the pool and hot tub which was nice after a long traveling day.
I appreciated the included breakfast and felt that the staff was very kind. I liked the amenities and location. They were available to answer questions, and also the hotel was clean and quiet. Not much else to ask for in a hotel!
The staff was friendly, the room was large, clean and comfortable, breakfast included scrambled eggs and sausage as well as the usual continental options, but it is not well soundproofed. I heard every door open and close, conversations in the hallway and the room next door, and people walking around upstairs. In all honesty, my husband managed to sleep through all this somehow, but I had to resort to ear plugs, which I never travel without!
This hotel was a let down. The receptionist had to check the room was ok before we could go up. Edges of carpet had not been touched. Montrose is not a particularly nice town and if we had our time again would stay somewhere else Breakfast was ok.
