My room was very big and unique. From the shower to the walls. Each corner had a unique fair that made it a one of a kind experience.
Parts of this hotel is still in the process of being redone, but the room I stayed in was finished. I would say everything above the first floor was newly finished. The decor was modern and cute. Felt very european! Also, right next to a minimart -which was super convenient. The restaurant on the corner of the street next to it was awesome, I believe it's called Deno's. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and fun to talk to! I plan to stay at this hotel again because of it's location and the quality of the room I stayed in.
This hotel has a great location walking distance to restaurants and bars and old port. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had nice extra's like a microwave and mini fridge. Overnight parking was a couple blocks away but easy walk down street and inexpensive.
The room was very small 10X10. Electrical wiring was exposed, the sink was not secured and leaked, the bathroom was so small that when you sat on the toilet your knees went through the wall, the bed was 6 inches off the ground, the cities busiest hospital was right across the street with ambulance sirens blaring constantly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Terrible isnt even the word to describe it!!!! Very dissatisfied
Excellent location. Easy walk to Old Montreal, parking garages, Latin Quarter and more. Rooms were just large enough for the bed. My room had no chair. Shared bathroom in the hall. Very clean. Staff was friendly. Skip the continental breakfast - even for $5, it's not worth it.
Our party rented two rooms - this is our 2nd review based on the 2nd room. One of the walls in our room did not go all the way to the ceiling - which left it open to a hallway used by other guests and meant that we had light coming into our room after all our lights were off. We shared a bathroom with two other rooms. There was no soundproofing. Two of us could not walk past the bed at the same time - that's how small the room was. The miniature tv was mounted on a shelf high above the head of our bed. To watch it, we would have to look through a mirror at the foot of our bed, sit/lay backwards in bed, or sit on the one stained chair in the room. Fortunately, we didn't come to Montreal to watch tv! The bed was extremely squeaky/rattly. Just sitting on it seemed like it would wake other guests. For our $5 continental breakfast, there was no hot water for tea. Breakfast consisted of two slices of not-fresh white bread, a croissant and orange juice. Next time, we'd find a coffee shop. Aside from that, the location, cleanliness and staff were all great.
the first reason why i chose this hotel was its location. Even though it was right in front of a hospital, it didn't disappoint. Old port was a few blocks along St. Denis towards the river, and the booming night life of St. Denis and St. Catherine in the other direction. Although the hotel had some chique renovations and artsy touches, some important pieces were missing. The beds were quite bad and springy, and some of the other furniture was a little used. TV was tiny and lighting in the room pretty bad. But more importantly, even though we had a private bathroom, it was not separated from the room except by the curtain (and shower in the corner of the room), which is a little unpleasant for doing your business with your partner in the room. But MOST importantly, I think we had bed bugs in our bed since I came back with bites on my arm.. The price was good, and there are some things to enjoy about the place, but you're taking some risks with critters and a few notches down on the bed/room quality.
Dont ever stay at this hotel!!!...the worst customer service, not to mention the horrible living conditions that has no where near what they think they offer!!!
to anyone staying at this hotel. There are 3 floors, no elevators, and if you drove good luck with parking. There are only 2 spots available down a dark alley. The price to park was 15$ per day and I honestly feared for my car. If you do happen to book here there is a biblioteque (library) near station berri UQAM that is in a secure garage for 12$ per day. The hotel staff here are not helpful what-so-ever. They are very indifferent to whatever your situation. Our "private" bathroom was not inside the room. It was two doors down the hall. Not all the electric outlets worked and the keys tended to stick in the locks. In fact the hotel had to have a locksmith change the lock on our bathroom door because the key would not come out. We had no use of a private bathroom for almost an entire day of our trip and we received no compensation for this. The floors in the room were faux hardwood new and clean. Thats as far as it went for "clean" at hotel celebrities. The location was perfect for easy access to downtown, financial, old Montreal, the port and gay village.
I went to Montreal for a short trip with a few friends. I liked the fact that the hotel was located in downtown close to the attractions. Besides the location, everything else was terrible. Our room was dirty, the bed had no head board and the mattress and bed sheets were dirty. Washroom was not pleasant. Overall, I enjoyed my trip, but the hotel did not do it for me.
I went to Montreal for a long weekend. The hotel seemed ok, a bit strange and stuffy, but ok. The rooms are really small and dark, and there are no night lamps. But the really bad part is: BEDBUGS. I found out about them when I came back, I am bitten all over me. I just called and the receptionist (whose English was rather poor) was very nonchalant about it, telling me "oh, there are bedbugs in all of Montreal", and saying I would have needed to find out while there. Now they will not do anything. Poor service too!
Our plane was delayed about 9 hours so we arrived around 4AM. Our room was rented at that point so they put us in the suite room and allowed us to stay there for the same charge for the remainder of the booking. The location was really great. Close to the Latin Quarter and China town. It was a bit strange being across from a hotel and we had to go up 4 flights of stairs with 50 pound suitcases, but other than that it was good.
[...] The Hotel is very horrible, plain and simple. Infact one star is too much rating for it.
Initially I was a little nervous about booking a hotel room in a new city for such a small price. I thought there had to be something wrong, dirty, inconvenient or trashy about it for the price I paid. I was very pleasantly surprised and it turned out to be a charming, welcoming, very well situated hotel! I would recommend it to budget-minded young people looking to explore a new city. It's close to everything, the staff is really friendly and the rooms are modest yet tasteful. The only funny part about the room was that the toilet room was so small that my petite sister and I had trouble fitting! I can't imagine my boyfriend being able to get one foot in there! Overall we had a great stay. As long as you're not expecting a 4 star hotel from your stay, this is a little more of an auberge, European inn style.
Art comes first, function second. Great experience!
We arrived at Celebrities Hotel on July 31st at around 1130pm. The male receptionist told us that our reservation was no longer in their system. His reason was that after we booked and paid for our reservation, the Hotel changed management and some previous reservations were "overlooked". They were not able to accomodate us that night since they were fully booked. He then told us to come back next morning so that they can accommodate us. We do not understand how previous reservations can be "overlooked" by new management. We were already very tired with the travel but we went around the vicinity to find a hotel to stay just for that night. We were fortunate enough to find one.The next morning, we went back to Celebrities Hotel and the female receptionist checked us.[...]
The hotel could not accomadate the heat wave we had a fan and a small small window unit and it was horrible
The WORST Hotel experience in 40 years...including lodging in third world countries. What a surprise to find a 6x10-foot room with a double bed stuffed into it and with no bathroom/sink facilities. My "bathroom" was off the lobby (shared by others, including the public) and my sink was in an alcove off the lobby. Imagine shaving in sight of the lobby. To add insult to injury, after contacting Orbitz, they said they'd try to help me and then never returned my call.
The hotel included, The Celebrities Hotel by Exclusive Hotels is un acceptable at any price. It is dank, old, hot, tacky and the room small, without windows, without bathroom, without closet. None of this was evident on your, or the Hotel's websites.I was fortunate enough to be able to find an acceptable room here in Montreal. I walked the area at 10:00 pm to find one, and physically moved at midnight.[...]
