Hotel staff was pleasant and fully bilingual. Lobby area is well appointed and gives the impression that this is a luxury property, which it isn't. Room was rather dingy. Three lamp fixtures didn't work. Loose electrical sockets. Dusty clock radio. One lamp fixture's control knob was loose and fell off. Dirty, dingy carpeting. No fridge or microwave was available. The property is very close to the Berri-UQAM metro station as well as the dropoff and pickup stations for the 747 express bus from the airport (they are NOT the same). A bank with ATMs is located just steps away from the property, at the corner of Rue St. Hubert and Rue St. Catherine, which was super convenient. A Jean Coutu branch (think Duane Reade, only in French) is located a block away. There's a McDonald's restaurant around the corner but I do not recommend it. Druggies and vagrants seem to make up a good portion of the clientele and I felt very ill at ease while there. Located in the Gay Village, the Hotel Gouverneur is in an area that is colorful and interesting. However, the sketch factor is very evident. While waiting for the 747 bus to the airport early Monday morning to head back home, I was glad there were others waiting at the bus stop with me. In the course of 10 minutes I saw a prostitute and three different vagrants soliciting for money. Neighborhood needs cleanup badly and is not the safest place to be alone after dark. I may or may not consider staying here again in the future.

Great location, close to the theatre St. Dennis. Great view of the Montreal skyline. Right next to St. Catherine St. Very comfortable beds!

We had a wonderful time in Quebec City and found the hotel very handy to walk around to all the old city sights

Very convenient to subway and shopping. Staff was excellent and very accommodating.

It's nicely located but an old hotel. There was a false alarm one night and guests on same floor were very stressed. This said the staff was friendly. Though the check-in receptionist was not knowledgeable enough. We missed our first breakfast because we were told a later time than actual. Last but not the least, we were given 1hr extra check-out time with smiling face. In a nutshell, it's a good value hotel.

Having stayed at this hotel several times before, I was looking forward to a nice stay for 5 nights. Unfortunately, the hotel staff was largely diminished because of a job action, and the service was not up to par. There was no regular housekeeping; the restaurant was only open for the buffet breakfast; and there was no concierge. My room was only cleaned and the bedding changed once during my stay. One of my two room phones did not work, and there was a terrible noise all night due to the room's proximity to the elevators. I would not recommend a stay at this property until the work stoppage is over.

I have stayed here several times and have noticed that it needs updating, but the housekeeping staff did a good job and the location was convenient. This time the hotel was in a labor dispute with house, reaping and apparently they were locked out. Who ever was doing housekeeping was NOT keeping up. Moldy and cracked tiles in the bathroom, lights out in the room, carpets poor, ymsi tained and cleaned ( I found toenail clippings- not mine- yuck in my room). Beds when made, not done professionally. Also upon arrival I was to,d rooms would only receive basic service daily- change towels dump trash and replace soap etc. First of all- that should result In some kind of compensation by itself. But even this basic promised service did not come until I called at 4 pm or later on my third day. Finally when I spoke with the front desk, they agreed to "upgrade" the room. However all they did was put me on a higher floor with some of the same issues. Since I had already paid for an upgraded room, they should have put me in concierge as perhaps those le else might be taken care of better???

Everything worked well at the hotel: clean, comfortable, appealing.

We spent 2 nights in Montreal, before going on a cruise. We enjoyed our view from the room! Beautiful night lights! Room was clean and comfortable, Restaurant had great food. It is convenient to the Metro! We would definitely stay here again!

Very well. The stuff is very nice and helpful. Nnnnnbvbbjgtukh

Fabulous breakfast buffet. Expected only a continental bkfst but was nicely surprised! Room was sufficient, carpeting seemed dirty but beds were comfortable. Just don't go barefooted!

Very pleased with the cleanliness and the cleaning staff, who were extremely pleasant and accommodating. Located next to the Latin Quarters and the Gay Community--makes for easy fun evenings with so many choices of restaurants, etc. And, a subway entrance one block away brings you to almost any location you may desire. BUT the hotel employees behind the check-in desk seemed either very anti-American or just plain disinterested nasty people, especially one female who always acted like you weren't even there and did not want to hear any request or complaint. The young men who helped guide you to various attractions and answered questions regarding Montreal were very friendly and were happy to repeat info as needed. The price is right and the cleanliness (which is most important to me) is great so I would go there again should I return to Montreal city.

I feel like I lucked out with this hotel. I had no idea how close it was to everything. It's right on the corner of the village and within walking distance of bars, clubs, restaurants, convenience stores...everything that you need. It's across the street from a park that's got music playing all afternoon and also just one block away from the main subway station that all of the other subway lines connect to. I spoke with other folks from around the area and also from the US and they did complain about some of the homelessness in the area. Yes, there are homeless folks hanging around the park across the street, in front of the subway station, and around that area of the village, but honestly (and especially coming from San Francisco where the homeless situation is at its most extreme) the homelessness was not that bad. I barely noticed them and they don't bother anybody. So if you're looking for location, location, location - I'd highly recommend this place. It's right on St.Catherine Street which is one of the main streets to hang around in the summer (the city closes the street down to turn it into a pedestrian walkway so that restaurants can bring out their outdoor patio seating and festivals can take over the street).

Overall nice hotel. Great comfortable bed. Rooms are dated and need to be refreshed as does the lobby.

Hotel was in walking distance to Vieux Montreal and to various restaurants. It was across the street from a metro stop which was convenient. Staff was very friendly and informative. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

airport bus747 to hotel(last second stop)easy find. Early morning we went out hotel, them a hour later come back.when we see staff(Clare Service) in my room,we no like

Every thing was very good, but the carpet was a little old.

Great place for the money. Always enjoy ourselves. Not a huge fan of their No Show Policy, as they will cancel your reservation if u do not arrive as scheduled.

W-E Getaway in the Village Convenient, great location, but defnitely due for renovations!

We have stayed at the Gouverneur Montreal Hotel on five separate occasions. The hotel is centered right in the middle of Montreal with metro stops in close proximity. Hotel is clean and the staff is always pleasant. Will continue to stay there when visiting Montreal.

We are sorrry to hear that you were disappointed by your room, we are ongoing a renovation plan, that might take a certain time to be completed, but be assured that your observations will be considered. It is acknowledged that the law enforcement forces are always around to ensure safety at all time.
