The reviews scared me a lot, but the stay was calm. Maybe I got lucky, but the bedroom was clean (just the smell was not so good), linens were clean, no bedbugs seen. Nothing outstanding, but okay for one night.
Room 32 Friendly and helpful staff Great location, Quiet, The air conditioner was top notch. The beds were clean and comfortable. The rest of the room could have been cleaner. Bathtub was filthy and the shower head was clogged. Bought our own bathtub cleaner to clean bathtub before taking a bath. Bathroom floor was filthy. The furniture was broken. 1 chair for 2 guests? Overall, Cleanliness leaves to desired.
We weren't expecting anything extravagant from this hotel considering we wanted to pay as little as possible while still being close to downtown Montreal. The room we had was actually very spacious, had two beds (although we only needed one), and the bathroom did the job. The view from the room was pretty terrible. We had a basement room and it looked out into a parking lot but not a big deal. I couldn't have expected million dollar views for a $100ish/night hotel. The hotel is in very close walking distance to Mount Royal and we were able to take a short bus ride to downtown.
Ok, I have been to my fair share of 'no frills' hotels but this hotel was just disgusting. My mother and I were on this trip together and we will not be coming back to this hotel. 1) Get to the hotel, go up to the reception desk and the girl at the desk is texting, ignoring me. Once she's done texting she checks me in, hands me my room keys and doesn't even bother to tell me where it is. 2) find the room, which is in the hotel BASEMENT and see that there is only 1 bed when I had asked for 2 beds. I go up to the receptionist and she says that she can't change the room because I had booked on a third party website. She also tells me that I need to call the third party website so they can call the hotel to change the room. It was getting late so I gave up and went to bed in my basement room and shared the bed with my mom. 3) I probably slept 3 hours that night. With the commotion upstairs in the lobby (since our room was in the basement we could hear footsteps from the lobby all night). At 6am I ended up calling and having the website call the hotel, which the website said it would be a $25 fee for them to switch your room and I would have to do it at the front desk. First of all, I didn't really care about the $25 fee, but the reception desk worker could have told me that upon check-in. 4) I get into my new room and the hallway outside the room smells like something had died in there. There was also a cigarette burn in my bedding. Worst hotel experience of my life. And I am usually the one who reads these reviews and thinks "ok..it can't be that bad" but it is THAT BAD. Poor customer service, poor rooms, poor attitudes at the front desk. Would never stay again.
We have been regular patrons for years but found our last visit not too great. The room had not been vacuumed, the bathroom floor was sort of dusty, and the whole place looked worn out and uncared for. Worse yet, we just got three towels to share. A tiny face towel and two smallish and old shower towels. The wifi worked sporadically. I know, first world problems, but at $115 per night it could have been a bit better. Not sure if I will return
We were not expecting to stay overnight, so we had very limited choice. It is a two star, so the rooms are no more than adequate, and the lighting is not the best. However, it is clean and serviceable, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location is excellent, very convenient to the 97 and 11 buses. The breakfast was very simple, but there was enough food to go around, so you felt you could eat your fill. The large beds are also a nice touch. I am used to more expensive hotels, but this was better than I expected.
My family and I recently spent 3 nights in Montreal, and we're looking for a hotel that wasn't going to break the budget. I was a little intimidated by some of the reviews posted about this place, but we found it to be very acceptable. If you are looking for bells and whistles, go somewhere else. If you just need a place to sleep that is within walking distance of Montreal's attractions, this is for you. The decor is old, and The wifi is very spotty, but the beds were comfortable enough and the room was clean.
We decided to go to Montreal with 4 hours notice and were looking for a hotel. The entire city was sold out and we ended up with last room here. I don't think I have stayed in 2 star hotel in 30 years ( I had been looking in 4 or 5 star). I was really worried and when I drove up was even more worried. However, the desk manager Walid was a gem. He put my daugher and me in room with king but found out he could move us and offer to do so that we had seperate beds. Room was fine for what it was. Clean and fine. Only problem really was $350 we paid for room. Did not eat meager breakfast but coffee was fine. It made me think I could survive a 2 star again. Oh, Wifi DOES NOT WOrk
Our flight was delayed and this was the only available, we were desperate and paid 355.00 for one night . We got to the hotel at 2am and ended up going back to the airport and sleeping on benches ! It was the worst looking place ive ever seen . I wish i had read the reveiws before going. We tried to get a refund and they refused!
Bed bugs found in Room 20. Wish we checked this website before booking. The incredibly rude and confrontational manager denied ever having a bed bug problem here before - even though there are reviews from only 3 weeks ago. I GUARANTEE he will try and rent this room out tonight - he was angry that we flipped the mattress over because he would have to remake the bed!!!
