Excellent location, walking distance to town and several excellent places to eat, slight hike to the beach. Room size was adequate though the promised refrigerator was absent. the TV offered a multitude of choices. However, the choice of wall paint was unfortunate, making the room look more run-down than it actually was. Actually very clean and quiet and the desk clerk was helpful and pleasant. We were content with our choice.

This is a really great choice for a stay in Carmel. The 2 biggest reasons are reasonable price and the 3 block walk to the center of town. The breakfast basket delivered to your door by 0830 each morning is a nice touch, but the fruit and cereal is nothing special. The room are average size with the usual amenities. The only downside is very limited and tight parking, but at least it's free and off the street.

I would stay again. Very convenient to town and beach. At night however due to low lighting difficult to see

Small room, heating was from faux fireplace that you couldn't turn the display or sound off on and was right next to bed. Even though I told front desk that I would be out by 8 am, they did not deliver the breakfast basket early so that I would take it with me and the front desk was not open, nor did they respond to door knocks, so I had to just tuck my room card into the door frame.

If you want to be in close walking distance of shops, restaurants, & even the ocean, this is a good place. But we booked a suite. The room appeared to be in the later stages of construction. Large holes in the wall, a slab of rough plywood thrown on the floor in the closet--not good for the price we paid. But the most annoying thing was the sitting room area, off to the side and no view of the TV. Plus, it had a large light fixture in the ceiling triggered by motion! Whether we walked or the guests upstairs walked, the light came on & stayed on! Not recommended for trips to the WC during the night, since this area was wide open to the bed area. We complained to the staff, who are very accommodating & fixed it quickly so that the switch worked only manually. In reviews we read about the great breakfast. While it was delivered to our room, it consisted mainly of items one might buy at the airport news stand: power bar, granola, a packaged Danish, juice & milk. A coffee maker was in the room but supplied only coffee, not tea. I can't drink coffee. Considering that within a few short blocks of the hotel are a number of lovely bakeries and pastry shops, this was both a disappointment & hard to understand. Why not have a standing daily order with one of those places to supply fresh pastries, etc.? In addition, the bedspread & upholstered furniture were worn, dingy & off-putting. Will not be returning. . . .

Well, there were some things we loved and some things we didn't care for. Loved the location! Two blocks off Ocean and a healthy, vigorous walk from the beach. Loved that and loved the price. Also, the included breakfast is filling and thoughtful and charmingly delivered. But be forewarned, the walls are very thin! Someone down the row slams the door and the whole floor shudders. The bed was horrifyingly uncomfortable. Housekeeping was inconsistent. I can't say we'd stay here again.

Walking distance to all the stores, restaurants, galleries, and the beach. Nicely upgraded rooms, but a little cramped. Includes a mini breakfast basket brought to your doorstep. Excellent staff.

Great and quiet location, close to restaurants and shops. Stayed for one night last January. Overall good experience for the price...

Hotel is very quaint and perfectly located. There is no air conditioning in the rooms nor are there ceiling fans. Fortunately when we stayed in late August the temperatures did reach the high 70s and mid 80s unfortunately the room was a little warm at night even with windows fully opened. I would suggest installing ceiling fans at least in all rooms. The breakfast basket delivered at the door each morning was very special.

We arrived on a very warm day to find out there was no air conditioning and no ceiling fan. The office did provide a fan, but it did not work that well. The room was on the end by the street and was quite noisy. I would not stay here again.

Location was great. Modest room but great bathroom. Breakfast good. Clean bedding. Comfortable bed, friendly staff.

We had a good time in Carmel. Clarion hotel was comfortable and well located within walking distance to everything.

Needed a room for Sat night in Carmel- a busy weekend. Might have been the last room in town. Room was clean but next to very noisy outside stairwell- heard people walking up & down stairs late at night. Added another night stay on Sun- and moved to another quieter room. Nice & clean, comfortable. The young couple who seem to be mgrs were hard working, and friendly..

Carmel is beautiful and this hotel is a very easy and pleasant walk to any of the downtown areas (and beach).

When we finally got into our room we were pleasantly surprised.

Hotel is in a very nice location, easy walking distance to all shops and eateries in Carmel-even the beach!!! Room is ok-nothing bad, but nothing to really rant about. Clean and cozy, won't break the bank, parking is a little tight, staff is very nice, you get what you paid for.

We booked late for Monterey car week so our choices were limited. We very satisfied with our room. It was small but clean and had everything we needed. The bathroom was nicely upgraded.

My impression of the hotel is very good, registrar is a very nice man, room is clean and tidy, and free breakfast in the morning, I'm very satisfied with this hotel.

We loved staying in Carmel-By-the -Sea. The hotel was pretty nice, with everything we needed...plenty of space, refridge, HBO. We liked the breakfast picnic basket on our porch every morning. A couple things bothered us. We asked them to be fixed but they never got to it, so that was a little disappointing (hairdryer not working, TV making funny high pitched noise). Overall it was a good stay in a nice location.

For a Clarion, this hotel is subpar. Torn carport. Broken safety on door. Location very good, brkfst basket just ok. Do. Not think I would stay here again.
