Cleaning crew did the bare minimum. Pool area was dirty. The place was run down and way too expensive for what they provided. The one person that worked at the front counter was very nice and helpful.

GOOD: Clare, at the front desk, was amazing! She was very accommodating and friendly. The location was excellent with a shopping center adjacent to the property. Strong Wi-Fi was also a plus, BAD: the place is very old and requires renovation. The rooms were not inside-only accessible (I.e., requiring a key to gain access), but completely open to the outside. That didn’t provide a secure, locked-down feeling. The bed’s comfort level was satisfactory at best. The bathroom had wallpaper that showed signs of peeling. As earlier mentioned, the place is stuck in a time warp and would benefit from a top to bottom renovation.

The property is nice and building and rooms overall are decent. The TV is cheap though about 720P quality and the restroom was underwhelming compared to the entire room. The ceiling in the restroom has peeled off paint and what i could of sworn showings if mold (green texture and black dots).

The pool was closed but it didn’t really matter too much because it was a bit chilly outside. My kids still wanted to get in though. The unfinished renovations in the lobby were unexpected, but that’s also fine I guess. We did eat at the restaurant upstairs…Andale. Very good food. Not many people in there. The hostess was a younger girl. Super sweet and very friendly but stopped by our table a bit too often. Better than not enough though! Our hotel room was decent, but the tv was terrible. The picture quality was awful. 480…so you couldn’t even read subtitles it was so grainy.

Great location.....central to most places in Monterey Bay and easy access to Highway 1. Staff were very polite.

Have stayed at this property for years, was significant how much this property now needs a facelift. Peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, paint in hallways a mess, entire property not maintained. Lobby was torn up so I guess they may be starting there. Restaurant was just ok and no beer or wine.

The place was more like a motel than a hotel. It was dated, the refrigerator was small and there was no microwave. I'm not quite sure how clean the bed sheets were. At least the floors in the bathroom seems new and no carpet and the staff were very friendly. Rate per night was overpriced for the condition of the property.

Nothing

I didnt like the way the entrance is because its difficult to get into

Great area. Next to Del Monte center and downtown (1.5 mile away)

We have stayed here twice now with our young children and during Covid. Both visits were pleasant. We sanitize our room when we arrive and do no housekeeping, but get our towels switched out every few days. The property is dated, but still nice. Rooms are clean being we sanitized ourselves and the wipes did not come up black! We had a view of the pool and over the trees you could actually see Monterey Bay in two spots. The first visit we had no microwave, but did the second so we were happy about that! The location is outstanding and easy to navigate into downtown, Carmel, shopping close by. Easy on and off to Hwy 1. On the second trip our bathroom light had an issue and they had it fixed within an hour or so. The staff is friendly and we will be back for sure!

My room had an adjoining door, you could hear EVERYTHING that people said in the next room. I was kept awake by the noise from the other room!! I asked to move and was told there were no rooms available. The hotel really needs to do something about noise reduction in rooms with adjoining doors. Also the window was broken and would swing back and forth when opened.

Staff was nice but facilities were dirty. Room seemed weathered and the floor was sticky.

The location was great, right next to Del Monte shopping center. Minutes from Carmel by the Sea and right of PCH 1. Room is spacious, although walls very thin, you can hear people outside hallway and noise from the road but not bad for a quick stay to enjoy a road trip to big sur.

Was an okay place for our first visit to Monterey

Hi Todd, Thanks for your review. I agree we are in the middle of renovating our rooms and have completed maybe 1/4 of our rooms. I am sorry that you didn't have the opportunity to experience one of our completed rooms. I do hope on a future trip to Monterey you will choose to stay with us again that way we may offer a better experience.
