Sandals Montego Bay - All Inclusive

There are several things which we are disappointed about. The hotel is located literally RIGHT NEXT to the airport and has airplanes flying over it 24 hours a day. Our room was located extremely far from everything and even though it had an ocean view, the room itself differed a lot from the pictures I had based my booking on. The curtains did not work properly and it was difficult to pull them up or down, since you also had a knot to tie. However these are not the main points of our disappointment. We booked a tour to the Bob Marley 9-mile and Dunn's riverfalls. We were told to wait at 8:30am in front of the lobby to be picked up. A delay would have been understandable, but not the fact that nobody showed up!! A joke. And after going to the Sandals guest services office 5 times, clearly annoyed, I was not even offered an apology or a way to make up for this. All we were told is that I could go and book another tour. Completely empathy-less and unprofessional. We were told they had no control of what went on, since the company providing the tour had nothing to do with the hotel. This does not happen at a world-class 5 star hotel, at the very least I would have expected an apology and some sort of complimentary resort service. Also, at the time of booking, we specifically asked not to charge my credit card on file, since we wanted to pay for it in cash. Even though they assured me it wouldnt be, it showed up on my checkout invoice. Later at the front desk I told them that we had not even been on that trip and they told me it had not been charged to the card. Much to my unpleasant surprise, the $220 tour charge showed up on my credit card statement yesterday, IT WAS CHARGED. A few other observations: NOBODY at the hotel gave us a decent recommendation on what to do or where to go. It was like they either didn't know what to recommend or didn't care. And not just talking about tours within the property, but also in Montego Bay. We couldn't believe no one could tell us one place to go see, visit a town, a local square, restaurant, anything. On New Year's Eve, the dinner was over and done with at 9:30pm. At 6pm we called and asked how late was the dinner going until, since we realized everything within SANDALS was done at ridiculously early times...the lady said she did not know and could not give us an answer. When we should up at 9:45pm on NEW YEARS EVE, the buffet was over and the hotel employees were already eating. This was simply unheard of, not just because of the time at which it ended, but because the staff could not give us a straight answer ahead of time so we could organize ourselves. We had to skip dinner and go straight to the party and wait for the buffet to reopen 2.5 hours later. The staff in charge of guests is not up to 5 star standards, everything is tremendoulsy slow and not to the point. No direct, informative answers are ever given.

The weather, the surf, the room, the staff and the hotel itself are excellent. I would not ever hesitate to return again to Sandals at Montego Bay. The food in all the restaurants we tried was excellent, and we had a great variety of choices on the menus. Jamaica proved an ideal backdrop to what I can only call one of the finest hotels I have ever visitied.

Wonderful food, staff, and beach. Would book this exact trip again in a heartbeat.

This was my first time staying at an all inclusive resort and i was disappointed. I guess i was expecting more hand and foot service. The things included were average in quality and the staff was always trying to sell you additional activities that were not included. The resort was nice but clearly an older property. The furniture was a bit run down and the bathroom in our room was dated. The pocket door to the bathroom was missing a handle making it difficult to open and close. The toilet kept running after flushing. There were no electric outlets in the bathroom either. The biggest disappointment was the food. Although the breakfast buffet was good the dinner restaurants were not. The food was very amateur. There could not have been any quality trained chefs there. And don't believe them when they tell you a restaurant is completely booked. We often ate in half empty restaurants that were supposedly all booked. When I called them on it they all of a sudden found open tables at restaurants that were initially said to be fully booked.

was a great experience, can't wait to go back. All the staff was very curtious and helpful. The shopping was great, lots of neat things for gifts. The food and bars were great too! And the spa experience was awesome!

This was our 6th time at this Hotel As always it was great

This was the best all inclusive resort we've stayed. The resort is spread out with a private beach for plenty of sun and fun. Friendly staff. Clean and cozy rooms. Lush grounds. The laid back culture and no tipping everytime staff provided services made for a relaxing stay. "No problems mon." All inclusive was truly all inclusive: pools, a swim-up bar, hot tubs, steam rooms and suanas. Our days were as carefree or packed full of all inclusive activities as desired: bartenders that would break out in a dance step or two, a beach party with entertainment (acrobatics, fire breathing, juggling, limbo), 2 person catamaran sailing; 2 person kayaks, stand-up paddle surfing, water skiing, resort selected local crafters onsite for unintrusive shopping...even snorkling and scubba were included! We met multiple couples who had returned dozens of times.

One of the nicest vacations we've had so far. Everything was perfect, starting with the weather, location. staff, food. Highly recommended.

comfortable room, clean beach&pool, a lot of entertainment every night, nice hospitality.

Beautifull beach, Great customer service, Lots of Activities and entertainment included, very clean, great food(espesialy the italian restaurant). Plenty to do on resort almost no need to leave. The Playmakers (entertainment staff) do a great job of keeping people busy with activities. Great couples resort. only negative drinks a little watered down ask for a lil extra kick, and next to airport

Everything was perfect almost till the end. When we arrived we were nicely greeted, taken by private car to the resort, we had the concierge room, but after we checked out things turned south. We were thrown on a third part bus company and dropped off at the airport with no information on who will take care of the baggage to the terminal etc. So the reality quickly set in!!! Also, we had booked a room with jacuzzi but was not provided with bath salt etc. For the money they charge for the room I think it should have been a standard. Otherwise, the hotel staff were extremely nice and went out of their way to please us.

Sandals - Montego Bay, is now my husbands and my favorite place to vacation. We will defintely return next year. Entertainment was good, food was good - We really enjoyed the Cricketers Pub and the Irie Bar. We went on the Island Vibes trip, and that was a special treat - Loved the snorkeling. Next time we will scuba dive. The staff was awesome - Very helpful and friendly. The maintenance and groundskeepers kept the grounds immaculant! The entertainment staff - "playmakers" were all very entertaining - I hope my husband and I will participate more next year. The drinks were amazing, I would have liked to see them carry "Crown Royal" as that is my husbands favorite drink. Photo takers were fun. The airplanes did not bother us too much, a little annoying if your having dinner on the beach, but staff waves bye to the planes and guests do also. I can't say enough about the staff. [...] in the poolbar, was the best! Our room was clean, beautiful view, and very comfortable. I just can't say enough about this place, we truly loved it and we are really missing it already. See you next year Sandals Montego Bay!

I am lucky to have been to Jamaica two years in a row now... Two different all-inclusives. I was very disappointed with Sandals Montego Bay. First, the resort is just by the airport, planes flying by quite frequently. This was something I just couldn't get used to, nor should I since I was on vacation. The food was okay but most of our group had food poisoning for a good couple of days. Definitely put a damper on our trip. The front desk seemed irritated if you needed anything. As far as the drinks go they were decent, but some drinks that I would've expected to be served were not. The highlight of my trip was hanging out with my family and friends at the pool bar listening to the piano. Snorkeling is so so as well. At the resort I stayed at least year, you could just go to the beach and immediately snorkel. Here you had to get an appointment to see anything decent. I am very unimpressed especially for the value of the hotel. Cost and service just didn't seem to add up.

I enjoyed the first class service the staff provided for us. Although the rooms had a funny smell, the service made up for it.

Once you check in make reservations to the Restuarants. The food is so good. We stayed at the Palms bld, our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff took care of us like VIPS and we didn't even have the butler service. [...] ran back to the kitchen frm the beach, just to give my girlfriend a cookie. The beach is so clean and kept that way with an army of staff. The planes that bother some people, did not bother us at all. When you see the planes, just join the staff and shake your hands in the air. Sandals do a great job.

The beach is as beautiful as they show on the website! There are many water sports and things to do on land as well. You can't beat the service either. All inclusive is just that...topshelf drinks and great dining! We will definitely be back to this resort!

This resort, although described as Sandals "flagship" in various guide books, was somewhat disappointing. The food was average; service was terrible; and the "all inclusive" aspect is anything but, since they charge you for many things that you consume from your room. Being next to the airport is also a major drawback, as some 20-30 planes a day take off right over your head. The rooms were nicely furnished, although somewhat small. The beach was fairly nice. Two of the restaurants had good food, but the rest were pretty poor, and you had to make a reservation for most of the restaurants, which was a real downside, as we weren't able to get a reservation for a couple of them during our stay. Overall, I have to say that most of theall inclusive resorts which I have been to in Mexico offer superior service, rooms and food.

the first day, we was turn off, because it rains and we have no choice than 2 walk in the water that was settle in the walkway 2 get 2 our room, we was soak, our shoe and clothe was a mess. i suggest, they use some form of golfcart 2 transport their guests 2 their rooms, whenever it rains like that, and not having them walk in the rain like that

We had our wedding at Sandals Montego Bay on this trip. It was a wonderful experience. My wedding planner Lisa was wonderful. Thank you Lisa very much! It was a great vacation/wedding! This is our second time at a Sandals and loved every moment! We would like to return but with our children next time to a Beaches/Sandals resort.

The first thing we noticed was how friendly and helpful the staff is. From the guys who take your bags, to the people at the front desk, the servers, the bartenders, the "play makers" (event staff), and everyone else, they are all amazing! It is our belief that all Jamaicans (or 99% atleast) are always happy. The airport noise really didn't bother us, because it only lasts a few seconds and there actually aren't that many planes flying in and out each day. However the rooms seem like they have thin walls. We seemed to always hear chairs and things being moved around and doors being opened and closed. On our stay we visited Sandals Negril, Royal Carribean, and Dunns River. The Negril location has an awesome beach, and the Royal Carribean (only 2 minutes from Montego Bay) has the private island which is very cool. All things considered we believe Montego Bay Sandals is one of, if not the nicest we experienced. The restaurants are simply fantastic, but you have to be sure to make reservations, because they fill up quickly. The pools at MB are a little disappointing. Every other location we went had a nice "main" swim up bar, where most would congregate, but our swim up bar was a little hike away and pretty small. I could go on and on, but I will just say that we REALLY enjoyed it, and would definitely go back. Be sure to make friends with the staff, and with other couples...it will make your stay so much more fun. Oh and everyone (except the Sandals staff) i.e. drivers or tour guides, or anyone outside the resort do expect tips. And there are guys walking the beach and just out and about outside the resort that try to sell you anything from shells to wood carvings to jewelery, and they don't like to take no for an answer, but just keep walking and say you aren't interested. I am going to stop now, but if you are considering Sandals Montego Bay, I highly doubt you would be disappointed.
