Staff and food was wonderful!! Lodge was clean and grounds were nice.
Beautiful property in the cloud forest. The staff was very helpful with information and did a great job maintaining the property. Great location, it was off the main road but a very short easy walk to town. Nice touches with turn down service and coffee in the lobby. Delicious breakfast with many options. We even saw monkeys on the property.
I read reviews before going about how the gardens at the hotel were worth spending a couple of days with and I was skeptical, but it is so true! We were sorry not to have more time to spend just enjoying the beautiful grounds, trails and pool at Monteverde Lodge. This is a wonderful hotel in a gorgeous area of Costa Rica. The staff were friendly and helpful and little extras like bringing little cocktails and cookies to the room at night as a courtesy and calling us by name made it feel extra special. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.
Helpful, friendly staff compliment a great location and pretty landscaping.
Beautiful hotel with lots of amenities. An enclosed butterfly garden is next to the reception area. Also, they serve hot chocolate, coffee and cake by reception, welcoming you as you arrive. Cozy fireplace where we sat and read our books, then had our lunch there. Rubber boots available for hiking in the muddy rainforests. The room had a gorgeous view of the forest, comfortable beds with down? comforters, hot shower and turn down service. There was plenty of hummingbirds at the three feeders they had, a heated outdoor pool and several easily walked trails on the property.
Had a wonderful stay. Friendly staff and beautiful location.
This is the second time I have stayed at the Monteverde Lodge in Santa Elena in 2 years. I returned with my wife purely based upon my initial experience and was NOT disappointed. The lodge has a nice balance of very friendly staff, wonderful views of the jungle (a must with monkeys in the area), and very comfortable rooms. It fits in with a nice balance of comfortable accommodations and a sense of traditional Tico style. They can arrange tours for you based upon your needs, No TVs in the room, and that is how it should be as you are on vacation! As long as you do not have unrealistic expectations of everywhere you stay must be like an American Hilton and you do not have unreasonable expectations, you will thoroughly enjoy your stay. The only downside is if you are here during high season, you may run into an occasional tour group. Which for us, we RUN away from as they tend to be noisy and take over any small hotel.
