Where do I begin. Noisy road, windows that didn't keep the cold out and therefore cold room, with not enough bedding on the bed (what's wrong with a doona?) half the lamps and lights didn't work. The curtains were falling off the track, and were in desperate need of change. The whole place was very run down and really quite depressing. As for the positive reviews it had I can only assume that they are fabricated. This place should not be operating in its current state. Do not stay here.
I stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend. Looks very old and is not maintained well. When me and my girlfriend entered there, few drunk people were arguing with hotel staff and it was very bad first impression. I would definitely not recommend!! Big No No!!
Where do I start? We travelled from the UK at very short notice because a family member was taken very ill, we booked this place mainly because of its location to the hospital. We only needed something cheap and basic, location was priority. I have stayed in many cheap and basic places before but nothing has ever been remotely close to the disgusting Motel Maroondah. In the U.K this place would be shut down, this is no exaggeration! We arrived at midnight due to a late flight, the first thing that you notice when you open the door is the pungent stale smell. The place was hasn't been painted in a long time, the carpet was filthy, actually it was beyond filthy. I wouldn't walk anywhere bare foot. The bathroom was very tired, it had been cleaned reasonably but the high window ledge was covered in dust and many dead flies. I am tall, most people would not have seen this. We had towels that had bleach marks (see photographs). Normally I would have complained straight away but we were tired after a 24 hour flight and more concerned about our relative in hospital. The first 2 days in Melbourne were cloudy and it was very cold in the room at night. The room heater didn't work and the temperature knobs had been removed. We complained and was told that it would work, so the receptionist came in with pliers to turn the heater up as the dial was missing. It worked for one night then stopped and then had to use a fan heater that they gave us. We then had to pull the bed out slightly to remake the bed and found a dirty plate under the bed. The carpet under the bed was absolutely filthy. We complained again and was told that they had a high turnover of rooms each day, (isn't this the case with all hotels/motels or have I missed something?). We were also told that they did a good job for the cheap room price. I have now moved on to Perth for a few days and am paying the same for an immaculate nicely decorated hotel room with an amazing bathroom/wetroom. This place should be condemned and knocked down, please look at my pictures. A very poor advert for the otherwise lovely city. TripAdvisor, you seriously need to add a Zero star rating for places like this, I don't like leaving negative reviews but just had to in this case
Booked over phone 99 dollars when we arrived the guy did not say hellos mie nothing. I could not believe my eyes was like a old run down Motel that had not had been refreshed in many years front office stunk. Got the key had to step over rotted mouldy concrete in garden beds ashtray at each door smelly some not emptied. In room stunk heater was on full blast tiny old tv on wall bathroom was ok but half toilet roll no others no tea coffee and the cleanliness of room was horrible to say least. I would never ever consider staying at this place again worst motel and customer service I've ever encountered health dep need to shut it down..
My daughter and I booked this motel online and the pictures looked OK for price. Walked in the front door, (which did not shut properly), the window was propped open with a piece of wood and the rooms were dirty and smelt mouldy. It was dreadful, we left and slept in the car !!!!! I would not recommend this motel to my worst enemy !!!!
If so this place is for you! Do not miss the opportunity to touch one of the many exposed electrical wires or fall into the cesspits covered with a rotting piece of concrete sheeting. That is all it would take for you to initiate a lawsuit that may change your life forever. What does it matter that you may be permanently disabled if you never have to work again? I can't paint this picture more clearly. You would have a better chance of coming out alive if you spent the night in the Belanglo State Forest with Ivan Milat.
Should have read the reviews before booking. Last minute booking trying to find somewhere to stay. The room felt dirty and unsafe, could hear the neighbours through the walls. I was walking to bed after brushing my teeth and stepped on a piece of glass, cutting my foot. We were very glad to check out early in the morning.
As soon as we walked into the room my son immediately had an asthma attack because of the mould. We went straight to reception and said we could not stay in the room for health reasons. The manager said bad luck. We could leave but we he would not refund our money. He then feigned not being able to speak English and engaged me in intimidating and threatening behaviour. The owners/managers of this disgusting cesspit should be put in prison.
It was the worst motel I have ever stayed. Piece of advise, don't stay in this motel, stay in your car if you can rather than paying for this crappy hotel. No fly screen, there was a spider in the toilet sink, the toilet light doesn't work. The toilet seat was dirty as hell, only half of toilet paper was on the roll. Hairs in my pillow and worst of all, there was little insects everywhere. When I woke up in the morning, my body was so red and very itchy. I complained and still waiting for the Manager to call me but it has been four days now and I haven't heard anything from him. I am going to report them into the Health Department. Motel Maroondah should have been knocked down. It's old and mouldy. Yuck yuck yuck. I would not recommend specially to the family with kids. I want my money back!!!!
Don't go there, This Motel was once a verty well run business, Then when the new owners came in they destroyed it. Some rooms are used as a half way house, There are 2 cars dumped in the carpark full of rubbish in them, The Landsdcaping and appearance from the outside is just as bad as the inside. Air cons don't work and are located in areas that don't comply with safety standards. The bed sheets had stains on them are condom was found under the bed, Bathrooms smell and mouldy.
