DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Minneapolis North3.5 out of 5.0

I am a Diamond Member and stay in a lot of different Hilton's. I gave this Hotel a 3 out of 5 compared to other Hiltons standards. The hotel itself is located in a little out of the way area. The area is a little run down. Check in was very polite and friendly. The two gentlemen were very helpful. I had a room on the 10th floor. There are 11 floors. My room was smaller than most rooms I get at a Hilton. Bathroom was a little smaller. TV was a little smaller. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast---The eggs and potatoes were a little under cooked. The breakfast did not seem as good as other Double Trees. They have a small bar that is open in the evening. Free chocolate cookie at check in. No restaurants within walking distance. You have to drive. One problem I had here were the doors. They slammed any timed someone left the room. You could here it loudly sitting in your room. All in all, it was a good stay. I probably stay here again
I definitely recommend this place, is so close to freeway and everything is close, places to eat etc. also the airport is not that far, the Mall of Americas is 15 away place where you can take your family.
I have stayed at this same hotel twice for business. I love the staff, they are extremely nice and helpful. The beds are comfortable and I slept great. I had a problem with my heat when I arrived, they fixed it right away. The cookies are a bonus!
The hotel is acceptable, but not of the quality the other Hilton's I stay at are. The staff varies in their skills. Overall, if you need to be in this location - just have realistic expectations that it is a bit older and the staff isn't quite as polished and you'll be fine.
During our stay as a U15 Hockey Team our children were exposed to open drug use and prostitution taking place. We also stayed Sept 21-24 and observed open prostitution and a strong odor of marijuana each time we got into the elevator. I am a Captain with over 20 years of Law Enforcement experience and know what was taking place, I served 6 years as an undercover officer. This problem was not addressed either stay and we were denied a refund. We will not be staying again and I will surly share this terrible experience with the North American Hockey League so this is not a recommended place to stay. This property is not a suitable environment for young athletes or families.
Ended up staying at this hotel as a spur of the moment thing. It was close to the University and found this one since most were already full for the weekend. Very easy to find. The service was exceptional and the hotel beautiful. Extremely clean! Would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Stayed for 3 days on Business, Clean rooms, Quiet, great sleeps. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. Hotel Staff were great as well. Large Parking Lot, pleasant setting. Highly Recommend. Great Place
The staff was professional and courteous. The lobby was very nicely decorated and clean. The room was also beautiful, very comfortable and clean! Overall this hotel is a great choice at a very fair price!
We typically stay at Hiltons for the assurance of quality, safety, and customer service. I rarely give low ratings (feel free to check my reviews). I gave 2 "stars" because the man at checkin was courteous and helpful. He also gave us warn cookies at 11pm. The bar was in full swing and I don't know how he could hear anyone on the phone. Poor placement of the bar. I also gave a "star' for the beds. They were comfortable and we slept ok. I don't want to say the hotel was filthy, but the thought did cross my mind. After looking a little more carefully I would say the rooms are extremely worn out. The carpet is SO stained it looked and felt filthy. Doors and furniture are all dinged up. It appears they tried to remodel the bathroom but it ended up looking patched together. The toilet roll holder was falling out of the wall. And the heater/fan unit did not work. Girls could not get the wifi to work either. Ice machines are only on the even floors. They have been removed from the odd floors? Walking through the hallways felt eery. I am sharing some room pictures. They don't really show how bad of shape the room is in but at least they help some. Looking back at the hotel website pictures....the only picture that is accurate is the lobby. The rooms DO NOT look like their pictures anymore. Check other reviewers pictures. I would say they was accurate. As we were leaving, we were met by 2 patrol cars pulling up and officers walking in. We couldn't leave the hotel fast enough. We chose this location as we wanted to be slightly out of busy downtown Minneapolis but close to the interstate. We wanted a "Hilton" and we got a "Super 8" We will never stay here again. I am shocked that this hotel can keep the brand name. Manager Michael G - please don't respond with your "canned" reply that you give to all negative reviewers. That just adds insult to injury. If you really want to do something, comp our room. It wasn't worth what we paid.
Our room was filthy, there was a hole in the floor, windows hadn't been cleaned in months (years?), bathroom vent had mold/stains, pillows had stains, marshmallow beds. Room was only $106/night (now we know why); however, still wasn't worth the price. We complained and staff (without us asking) quickly took one night off our stay. This must happen alot for them to do that. Would never stay here again or recommend.
