Great location. Right off the interstate and easy access to downtown.

Clean, simple room with kitchenette. Free coffee and nice staff

Staff were pleasant and accommodating. Location works very well for getting around twin cities. Affordable! We were grateful that the predicted storm and 12 inches of snow passed us by.

Only flucky thing was false fire-alarm at 0500 am, but hey, alarm worked and got to meet a lot of nice folks in pajamas. They sorted it out - don't gather it will be a recurring issue. /kww

We would certainly return when visiting our daughter at University of Minnesota. Great front desk staff. They were all very helpful and friendly. Rooms are a bit dated, but clean and comfortable.

Nice hotel and close to campus. Nice that parking is included!

I got the queen bed room not the suite. It was small for an extended stay set up but had eveeything i needed and expected. Bed was very comfy. Close to u of m hospital which was the purpose of my visit. Easy parking. Very friendly staff. More than willing to ask questions or address anything that came up during my stay. Wonderful free gourmet coffee 24 7. Two things i would have liked to see: 1 pool or hot tub 2 some kind of breakfast. But not rating them down for it. Inside shower curtain did a tiny bit of mold. Was taken care of when i told front desk. Great for shorter stay but if you are looking for long term there are bigger rooms for similar price at other hotels. They do have a shuttle but i did not use it.

Staff was helpful and happy from the second we walked in the door. Loved the decor and rooms. Very comfortable and affordable and close to downtown without all the craziness. Would definitely stay again!

Cute little hotel. We'd definitely stay there again. The price was right.

My boyfriend and I came to watch a Vikings game and stayed at the University Inn for the weekend. It was really close to a lot of good restaurants and within walking distance to the university stadium as well which was wonderful. The room on the other hand left somethings to be desired, like cleanliness! I woke up and found ants crawling on my pillow and found a couple more during our stay. Needless to say I was a little disgusted. Another inconvenience was there was no way to rent movies for when we just wanted to chill. The staff was really pleasant and nice. But after the ants I wouldn't be staying here again.

All of the staff was welcoming. Great recommendations on where to dine.

big room, good facility. location is very good, closed to umn

My wife had an appointment at the U of M hospital. It was a quick trip so we were not able to fully take advantage of the kitchenette. We need to go back for surgery in December and we are planning on returning to the University Inn for that extended stay.

Friendly staff. Very clean room. Helpful with directions to city attractions. Free parking was an added bonus. All in all, a great experience.

Located in dinky town just off I 35W with free parking this small hotel is very convenient. each room has a kitchen and lots of space. you can walk to a small grocery and economize on food during your stay. You can get on 35W in half a minute which gets to anywhere in town quickly. Other wise dinky town has its University oriented trade in walking distance. The semi-residential neighborhood makes for a pleasant setting with no heavy local traffic and easy in and out from the parking lot. Highly recommended.

They took my money in advance for a room with two double beds, and then I was called and told the room was unavailable so would I take a room with one bed and a rollaway. When we got there and got to the room the rollaway was there. But there was not a place big enough in the sleeping area to put it. I had to take the (uncomfortable) mattress off the springs and put it on the floor for it to fit. The hallway and room carpets were both dirty. The bathroom counter was dirty and sticky and THE BATHROOM TOWELS WERE DIRTY. The staff were unfriendly and unprofessional in tone and interest. They had not plowed the parking lot by 10 am when we left. When I asked for a receipt I was snidely asked if I already gotten one (told her if I had one I wouldn't ask for one, she looked confused). And then the price listed was different than what I was told the charge would be when I made the reservation. You'd do better to stay just about anywhere than the University Inn on 4th Street Southeast in Minneapolis. It's worth it to pay for gas and parking and not stay here.

This hotel is perfectly located if you are doing something on the U. of Minnesota campus. It is also adjacent to the trendy Dinkytown neighborhood. One underrated amenity of the hotel is the parking lot. It is a surface lot that is free to hotel guests. It is one level, and because the hotel is small, the parking lot is also small, meaning that your car is never far away. That is very convenient on a cold Minnesota evening! The hotel itself is a bit hard to describe. The word hotel is probably a misnomer, and if you expect a hotel in the classical sense, you will be scratching your head. The whole place sort of has an institutional feel. I would describe the rooms more like oversize dorm rooms or perhaps as rooms that you would see at a conference center that houses overnight guests. The rooms are decent sized, very clean, and feature a small kitchen. Not a kitchenette, but an actual kitchen. Kind of convenient! Like I said, the room was clean, but not overly fancy. The bed was comfortable and the shower was warm. I really have nothing bad to say about the actual creature comforts. If you can ratchet down your expectation of what a hotel "needs" to be, and are looking for great value and a great location, you will be very pleasantly satisfied with the University Inn.

Conveniently located near U of M and downtown. The room was quiet and comfortable. Also the staff is very helpful. We would come back !

Great bed quiet room and clean. Fridge, stove and microwave were nice. Easy to park.

Hate to let people know about this, but this was great for my sons orientation at the U of M. Within walking distance of the U, right in Dinkytown and easy to 35W. Definitley will stay again.

Ken, we are happy to hear that you loved the location! It is close to a lot of stores which is always nice! We will have to look into the wine glasses! That is great feedback. Thank you! We are very sorry about the false fire-alarm, but I am happy to hear that you made the most of an interesting experience :). We also don't see it being a recurring issue, but we are very happy we had such great people like yourself staying with us that could see the light in such an odd situation. We hope that we will see you again soon!

Hi Bonnie, Thank you for the feedback regarding your recent stay! I am so pleased that you enjoyed the room, and that you were able to take advantage of the complimentary parking and gourmet coffee. However, the greatest compliment we can receive is that our staff took good care of you throughout your visit. They work hard to ensure that each guest has a positive experience, so I am glad to hear that they assisted in making your trip more comfortable, and quickly fixed any issues you encountered. I am sorry to hear that we did not provide all of the amenities you would have liked. While we do not have a pool or hot tub, next time you are in town consider visiting Lake Calhoun for a fun outdoor experience! Only 4 miles from our location, and accessible by bike trail and/or taxi service this bustling beach is the perfect day-trip, or even great for a quick dip. We hope that you choose to stay with us again, should your travels bring you back to Minneapolis. Next time ask for our Double Room this will be more spacious for an extended stay! Sincerely, Stephanie Lundeen Customer Care Coordinator
