Was speaking at the University but didn't want to stay out near the airport. The Commons was perfect--2 minute access to the heart of the campus, a wonderful restaurant and bar, a very helpful staff, and a surprisingly cozy environment that gave it the feeling of a wonderful lodge. Not to be missed, and the breakfast offerings are outstanding!

I enjoyed my stay & the room was very nice! The restaurants & bars around the area were fun to go to.

We tend to stay at the Commons Hotel regularly because of the close proximity to the athletic facilities and to local dining. We also enjoy the atmosphere and décor.

Across the street from University of Minnesota - super convenient. Friendly and hospitable with comfortable beds! The only negative - worn out hallway carpet - yuck.

Close to the light rail station; incredibly easy access from the airport.

Very contemporary feel. However I didn't like how loud the plumbing was in my room. I kept hearing clanking. Maybe just my room by chance I cannot speak for the entire building. Not to mention I could hear my neighbors talk to their kids clear as day. I would expect a more sound proof room for the price of stat. Facility is astheticly appealing. Rooms a large!!! Bathrooms are beautiful. The atmospher is of collage.

The staff went above and beyond to help us. The room was great but the hallways need a new carpet.

There were 2 pieces of clothing left by a previous guest (I guess) under the desk. The iron (an essential for all business travelers!) was dirty. That obscured all the good things the hotel has: a central location, a beautiful building with los of character and exquisite details (marbel counter in the bathroom, etc) and amazing restaurant. I would expect impecable service for that kind of money.

Perfect location on college campus, everything nearby. Train stops right in front. Hotel is clean, excellent service. One complaint is my heater stopped working. It was cool, not freezing.

We stayed for a relaxing Valentines Day evening. We also had an appointment at the U of M medical center the next morning. The only thing I would improve upon is the parking, it was very hard to figure out where to park at first. The staff was very friendly and the hotel in general seemed to be a little cold and drafty, the tile in the bathroom was very cold on the feet.

Stayed here prior to Vikings game. Very nice place, staff pleasant, food at restaurant great. For some reason, the room was just too hot. It seemed the thermostat had no effect on room temp. Turn it on and it got super warm, turn it off and it got cool. Just couldn't actually set temp and let it be. Very convenient to game with brunch served in morning, however, there was a long wait for brunch, so get there early.

dropped off our college son at centennial hall, which is only a block away

The Commons was a nice surprise. Located at the edge of the University of Minnesota East Campus in Minneapolis. The 8 story building has new, clean contemporary look. Within the building Applebies Resturant, Copy shop, Starbucks and barber shop. Across the street for a $1.75 the Light rail system takes you to Downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul in 15 minutes or Mall of America in 30 minutes. A nice surprise great spot.

My spouse and I stayed as a couple at this hotel over the 2014 Winter. It was a perfect hotel to stay in if you're catching a Gopher game. The hotel is a block away from TCF Bank Stadium. Parking is a breeze, although you do have to park in a ramp since their parking lot on site is rather small (They will pay for you parking in the ramp). The room was clean and comfortable. Absolutely no issues with our stay.

The hotel provided all the services we desired. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. The location, in the center of campus was a perk as our business brought us to the university. Parking is extra.

Nice hotel, but a little expensive for the quality. Room service was ridiculously expensive for a small amount of mediocre food, and we had to go down to restaurant to retrieve condiments. Request for new pillows because of allergies to the down ones took almost an hour to be fulfilled. Overall the staff was friendly and the hotel was nice, but I believe I could have gotten similar quality for a lower price.

The hotel staff were very friendly...went the extra mile to accommodate us.

This hotel met all my expectations. The staff were all courteous and helpful.

We stayed here while we were in town for the Fleetwood Mac concert and it was wonderful. Funky, beautiful décor outside and it. Whoever did the interior design on this place outdid themselves. The staff was helpful and our room was gorgeous clean and comfortable. The location was a little awkward but other than that no complaints! Would definitely stay there again

The Commons is a bit pricey, but worth every nickle. Very impressive as you drive up, and actually find a place to park even as tens of thousands are converging on the Campus for Packers/Vikings contest. Since we were attending the game first, we took a chance they might check us in early. Unfortunately, the Hotel was booked solid, but they did confirm our reservation, direct us to the parking tower ($15 overnight), and even volunteered to hold our luggage until after the game if we wished. This is when everyone else was paying $20 if they could find a spot at all, for the duration of the game only. The entire place was impeccably clean, tastefully furnished, with all the bells and whistles... like a Keurig right in the room! It seems they must have renovated the entire place very recently. Short walk to Stadium, Walgreens and one of the best Japanese restaurants I've been too conveniently located right across the street (Haiku Japanese Bistro <-- very necessary plug, also impeccable) along with a plethora of dining choices, bus and incredibly quite train service right outside the front door if you wanted to go anywhere else in the city. If you're going to attend an event on that side of town, look no further.
