Mercure Hotel Mildura4.5 out of 5.0

The Mercure appears to be the old Hotel Mildura, an old and probably grand building in its time. There appear to be newer apartments constructed behind. Location is good, just two blocks from the restaurant strip and the same distance from the river park. Checkin was fine. Our room on the first floor overlooking the street in the old part was a little tired, and strangely had a spa bath in the same sitting room that also contained a couch, tv, kitchenette and work desk. The aircon unit was from the Ark. Free Wifi is good. Our room was a little musty, so we opened the window, which was a mistake. Very noisy due to street cleaner machines, a few trucks, and lots of Friday-night people noise from the bar in the hotel downstairs until closing at 2am. Not a terrible stay, but probably not in the list for next time.
Stayed in this clean and comfortable hotel 2 nights very close to shops, restaurants, wharf for cruises etc, Complimentary Continental breakfast was disappointing Offerings of sliced bread for toast, packaged yogurt,a few poor cereals, 10 pieces of old fruit and International roast coffee...... However that was put aside as both my partner and myself were pretty happy with our decision/ Until I arrived home and realised I'd left my favourite scarf in the wardrobe. When I called to see if they could return it to me , I was asked if I'd had a call from them about it? No, thats why i called.. Reply "If we didn't call you, it's not here" No offer to check at all.. Don't think I'd go back for that
We had an overnight stay at this hotel, the rooms are lovely and clean. King size beds in the main bedroom weren't as comfy as hoped after camping in the red centre for a week but still nice. Staff were pleasant and friendly and the chef in the restaurant was very friendly and gave the kids a little cake treat for our trip home. Overall the hotel was a clean, pleasant place to stay 😃 And I would definitely stay again.
The a/c didn't work very well I had it on 28 and on heat and it blew cold air out for a couple of hours, so I turned it off, I informed the front desk the next morning only to be told I mustn't of had it on heat. I had little to no Wi Fi reception in my room. I was near the kitchen, the exhaust fan was loud and only got turned off at 10.30 at night.
Made a booking last minute on a work trip, staff very helpful, room was clean and had everything I needed for my short stay. A very short walk to all the main restaurants in town. Some undercover parking available and plenty of parking off the street. Has a pool and meeting room facilities. Also has a in house dining option for breakfast and dinner.
The hotel is very conveniently located and has a real fun quirky historic lift to the upper floors. Off road parking was great as well as the covered parking as it was raining when I was there. The nearby Vault Art Gallery is a must see destination in Mildura. The hotel was great value with a two bedroom apartment being great.
Comfortable, Staff friendly & rooms are clean. Good service 24 hours a day and the restaurant next door is very good. A charge back to this restaurant is also available which is important when staying on business trips.
After booking a two bedroom apartment for three guests, and our booking confirmation stating "Continental breakfast included", we were very disappointed to find the breakfast was for two of us and not three. Surely when booking, the confirmation should have read "Continental breakfast FOR TWO included". Breakfast was relatively poor quality breakfast too - no fruit, limited cereals and very limited breads, etc. I would rather the Mercure didn't bother because it appeared to us as a very deceptive practice. We were told it was listed as only for two -- in the small print of the T's and C'c!
Room excellent, check-in interaction could have been better. Having stayed at more than 20 Accor hotels world-wide in the last two years, I would rate the check-in experience as amongst the least welcoming I and my wife have experienced. (We were not provided adequate guidance to where our room was located and were advised that the complimentary welcome drinks normally available to Le Club Accor members did not apply to my wife as a matter of this particular hotel's policy. This was annoying as in no other Accor hotel has this been the case).
On our journey to the Flinders Ranges, we stayed at the Mildura Mercure before crossing to South Australia. On our return journey we wanted to visit Mungo National Park and, because of the good experience we had on the journey out, we chose the Mercure again. Accor Advantage is a great group to which have subscribed.
