We have been visiting Italy and are flying out from Malpensa airport at Milan so wanted to get a hotel close to the airport. This hotel fitted the bill. They provide a shuttle to the airport which takes about 15 minutes. We were coming to Vergiate on the train from Milan and the hotel staff had told us to phone them once we got to Vergiate station and they would send a taxi. We got off the train and before we could call, saw that the hotel shuttle was already there waiting for us. I'm still not sure how they knew we would be on that train. When we arrived we were met by Luca at the reception who checked us in and then offered us a drink....we had a coffee....no charge. The hotel lounge area is lovely with a bar. Our room is a good size with an equally spacious bathroom and everything is clean. Now comes the best part....Luca told us that the hotel restaurant was closed tonight, being Sunday night. As this hotel is not in the town and we didn't have a car, we thought we would end up just having a snack and drink. But no, Luca was outstanding, and whatever they are paying him, it isn't enough!!! He organised a pizza to be delivered from the village, and then set about making two amazing tuna salads for us, along with the accompanying bread and oil/vinegar, followed by warm apple strudel with strawberries. It was so unexpected and so tasty. He set up outdoor tables for us. We were quite overwhelmed and can't thank this young man enough. If you are flying out of Malpensa, then this is a great place at which to stay. There is a free shuttle provided. If you are holidaying then stop here. If you get half as good service as we did you will be very pleased you stopped here.
We got an upgrade to a theme room. It was about erotic movie , I think. The shower was transparent. Mirror on ceiling spot lights above the bed. nude pictures on the walls. the Minibard was warm all times, even when we asked to fix it. the hotel is very nice and the stuff is very friendly and speaks good english. the location is a bit far from Milan.
Well, this will be a longer and kind of different review than every other review I wrote on Tripadvisor. As frequent travellers we are used to a lot, in all kind of different countries. Our renewed visit to Italy (our last trip, but without our Pembroke Corgi) was in 2011 and we wanted to do a revival in Italy, but visit other cities, like Roma and Napoli. Almost everything was very good at the Selva hotel: breakfast was very complete and most things tasted very good, the staff was super friendly and helpful, our room was clean and neat. Nothing to complain about. Only, the wall was as thin as paper, or: we experienced it that way. We are not complainers and/or hard or sour visitors, but what happened in La Selva was something we never experienced before. We had a super annoying loud neighbour: a man and his little daughter thought it was rather normal to start their ZOO sounds at 22:00u in the evening till late in the night. Television was loud, and their screaming was even louder. Because we (especially my girlfriend; I drove from The Netherlands to La Selva in one take, so was too tired to be kind) didn't directly want to complain about him/them with the staff, my girlfriend chose to confront him directly face to face on the second evening. The neighbour seemed to be a little man with a big mouth but a small heart: he looked rather surprised that a friendly woman asked him even more friendly to lower his voice and sounds. So he did.... For one hour max. We left it that way for that evening, because everyone could have a drunk night, right? But the (television/cartoon)noise went on and on, and we wanted to sleep: something normal at 1 o'clock in the night, after a day drive, right? Annoyed I went to the reception, where the nightwatch went upstairs with me, and knocked on his door. No answer. The nightwatch opened the door, and... the room was empty: but the television was on and loudly playing cartoons. Okay, maybe it was a one off. But the following night: the whole circus again. Again, to the reception in the late evening. They promised me/us to call him by phone and to request him to lower his volume. After half an hour we heard them phone him, and... it helped... for a short while. This went on and on, and he didn't care for long. This man completely ruined our stay in La Selva, although everything else was superb!
Me and my partner stopped here two nights on our way through Italy, we had come from the Swiss Alps that morning and were advised to check out lake Orta, we booked the La Selva and were more than impressed when we arrived the staff were very friendly & accommodating, room was great we had the junior suite nice and spacious with outside balcony. Food, Bar & Breakfast were also very good
This hotel was real nice, staff were great. Room was clean, and well decorated. The bathroom was nice and up to date. We had dinner and breakfast here and the food was good to. The only downside was it out by its self, no easy access to town. That may be a plus to some but not me. Just book it, is my advise.
.... I love this kind of hotels..... Very clean and very strange rooms strangely decorated with mirrors in the sealing of the room. Breakfast is big and there is a great choice of different foods and drinks! You need a car to travel to and from the hotel.... Very close to malpensa airport but still you need a transport ! The hotel is located very closed to the main motorway to Milan which is at about 45 km to Milan city centre. Great for families as well! F
Booked in here because all other hotels close to where I was working were full. I am glad I did. This is not a motel in the traditional sense. It is a modern stylish hotel with excellent communication links. The room was tastefully decorated with some interesting features! I won't say more. Breakfast was ok, typical continental. The hotel is a bit isolated so a car is essential. Well located for lake maggiore, Milan and malpensa.
The staff are for the most part pretty accommodating. This is not an ideal place to stay if you are without a vehicle because there is literally nothing in the surrounding area. This is made all the more frustrating by a restaurant that is only open 7 to 9 pm and has maybe 5 entree choices. The continental breakfast was made up many great options, however, and the coffee machine was a must-use!
My husband and I stayed in this gorgeous hotel for 2 nights while visiting friends and also Lago Maggiore and Isole Borromeo. All I can say is that it is simply the Best. The rooms were spacious and very clean and modern, nice restaurant, clean hotel and the staff are so nice warm and friendly and treated us like a family and is the best you can find in the area. The atmosphere was amazing. We had dinner there one night in the restaurant and the food was tops. We met Elisa the chef and like to say thank you for a great meal. 10/10 . Assunta and Rocco in the reception they were all great. All I can say is that I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and is visiting Lago Maggiore. Italy is Amazing and everyone should visit this gorgeous country. Thank you again to all the staff for making our stay such a memorable one. All the Best to everyone and we will return soon as possible and definately stay in your hotel again. Regards Nicoletta & Giuseppe From Melbourne (Australia)
Quiet location surrounded by trees. We used it as a base for three days as we were exploring the region by car. We stayed in a triple room on the top floor. The room was nice and spacious, large shower room, with a nice private roof terrace. Staff were all very nice and always willing to offer their help or advice. Breakfast offered a very good selection of croissants, other breads, fruit, cereals, ham, cheese, bacon, scrambled eggs and more. The hot drinks machine made a great cup of coffee. Breakfast was above average, however the evening meal we had was ok but nothing to write home about. This is a great place to stay if you want a quiet location with good road links. Very good value for money with a nice atmosphere. Do your home work. This is not the place to stay without a car. If you want to walk out at night and find night-life and restaurants you'll be sadly disappointed. If you're happy to drive 5 / 10 mins you'll find plenty of shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
