Hotel Mythos

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

My nine nights as a guest at Mythos were a key element in a wonderful visit to contemporary cosmopolitan Milan. The entire staff, front desk and breakfast crew were exceptionally proficient, courteous and friendly. The neighborhood remarkably quiet (with a residential tone) even though only a block or two from the central train station, I recommend Mythos very highly and would return in an instant. Great value within a short walk from the train station. Ver clean and quiet

We chose this hotel based on some good reviews, as well as its location near the train station. It was indeed near the train station, though not quite as close as it is listed (they say .1 miles, in actuality it is about .3 miles). Not too far of a walk, even with luggage. It is past the main group of hotels, kind of in a dirty back alley. Not great. The bed was traditional double (two twins pushed together) however there was nothing to cover the gap between the 2 mattresses! We had a crevice in our bed. Also, the mattresses were really bad- you could feel the wires in them. It felt a little like sleeping on a box-spring. The linens were a pity- grimy sheets and a thin, ratty comforter that's ability to provide warmth was even worse than it looked. The shower was disgusting- dirty and caulk coming off in the corners. The tile looked like it never gets scrubbed. The toiletries provided were actually nice. The room was small and sparse, nothing more or less than I expected. The breakfast is nothing to write home about. Really not great food, and they charge you 20 Euros a person. Skip it and get a coffe and croissant at a shop on your way back to the station. My biggest problem came at checkout when we were charged $5 for two water bottles. We neither saw 2 water bottles, nor drank them. We think the older man at checkout was trying to be a little tricky with us- trying to get some extra money from us without us noticing. The employee that checked us in the night before, however was lovely (young man). It suited us for what we needed, just a quick 1 night room close to the train station. I wouldn't recommend it to stay in more than that. But PLEASE be aware that this hotel has no business being 4-stars. Probably it should be a 2-star.

For the price, overall the hotel is ok, but the room is old and not very comfortable. TV is tiny with only 5 Italian channels.

This hotel was very simple, It was clean and the one staff member was friendly, but I wouldn't expect much from this hotel, the rooms were not properly stocked up (no soap) and there was no Iron in the building. Luckily the employeed managed to score and Iron for us eventually.

It was a horrible experience from the very beginning and we felt harassed every time we came and left the hotel. In fact, we only stayed one night at the hotel even we were booked for 3. When I approached the desk and stated I wanted to check in, I was told I must contact reception if I want to check in. I looked at one of my friends very confused so my friend then asked, maam are you reception? Her reply was yes, so we said, well we are contacting you to check in. She proceeded to check us in stating very loudly that our room was an economy double, the exact room number (very loudly) and that oh no there was no breakfast included at that price! She gave us our key and we tried to brush off the whole experience as this was our first time in Milan and we were ready to enjoy. When we came down to go out to dinner, she asked for our room key and instead of us just explaining that it was their policy since they use original room keys, she ([...]) proceeds to argue with us. We came back from dinner with the intention of grabbing jackets and then going back out, but once again we were harassed and told that our friend could only stay in our room for 30 minutes and if we wanted to visit longer it would have to be in the lobby! (There were 2 of us registered to the room and a friend of ours had come along to hang out) We were outraged and basically the rest of our night was ruined. We asked to see this policy that we were told was a policy of the state police and they could not produce any policy but, became enraged because we asked. We were given a police website to go to so we purchased some internet time to search out these mysterious policies and to find another hotel! We were told we could talk to another gentleman the next morning by the name of [...] as by this point we asked for someone to speak to about all the foolishness. We returned to the hotel the next morning to learn that Tony doesn't speak any English, none![...] We talked to another gentleman and told him we were so dissatisfied that at this point we were willing to forgoe the money and check in elsewhere for the remainder of our stay as we had already stayed elsewhere the previous night because of their behavior. We were treated as it was just a misunderstanding and they would like us to stay, etc. The problem was never really resolved. They not only didn't do a good job apologizing for the way we had been treated, they never offered any solution or other way to compensate our inconveience. Very glad we didn't allow this hotel experience to ruin our time in Milan. Never stay here, never. Both the Hotel Ibis and the Westin Milan Palace are hugely better alternatives.

It's very close to the main railway station. Nice lobby but very few amenities. Four stars is too much for those rooms. Mine was quite small, with no bathtub. Wireless connection was unusable inside the room; I had to work from the lobby. Buffet breakfast was OK. Overall the hotel is not bad, but with so many choices around, next time I will try something different.

Went to see the famous shopping center. Never saw it was too distracted by the horrible service and attitude of the whole town, from the taxi driver to the hotel personnel, to the waiters at local eateries. To include the local female escorts standing around the corner involved in a street fight for minutes end with no police involment at all. Location was close by the train station/bus center and like most cities and unlike Florence and Venice it was the worst part of town in a very shady, dark, and dirty area. The Hotel seem to have spent all its money on all the beautiful natural stone upgrades and left none to hire good personnel or well paid to keep them happy and further details in rooms. Everyone in Milan appeared to be fluttered and frustrated not happy with the extra cash coming into town. Did not feel welcomed.

Room had interesting controls for its climate control; however they worked as did the jacuzzi tub :-) !! It was a bit smaller than compared to a US 4 star hotel, but if you have ever traveled to Europe you can appreciate its subtle touches. I would def. recommend this hotel to others.

Everything was lovely. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of fresh fruit, meats--things that some hotels skimp on providing...only downside was that the wifi connection was costly and would drop out for no reason, then come back on, but meanwhile, those minutes are ticking away...could only get consecutive minutes rather than anytime minutes. A little further away from the train station than I had envisioned, probably a 5 min. walk.
