Holiday Inn Milan Linate Airport4.0 out of 5.0

Do not book this hotel if you have an early flight to the airport since the free shuttle starts from 6am. The receptionist (Marco) was rude, not helpful and not very welcoming. The website says free shuttle is available from 6am to 11:30pm, but they didn’t mention that there is no service from 11:30am to 4:30pm (which is ridiculous since a lot of guests are checking out at 11am)!
I stayed at this hotel recently as I had an early flight out the following morning to London. I found the accommodation to be good and the staff was very helpful. The only complaint I had was that the restaurant opened late at night and not early in the morning.
They hotel is not a 4 Star for me. Basically it is ok for a Airport Hotel. Normally you don’t make vacation here. It is just practical if you arrive late or have an early flight. The price for Milano is ok. The rooms are not big but big enough. You have a decent bathroom and international TV. The internet is unfortunately working very slow. The good is that they have a restaurant in house, because near by the hotel is nothing. One Personal recommendation: Don‘t try to reach the hotel walking. I have made it and after half way I was expecting to be killed or something else. There is no good way to reach the hotel. It is located on the back side of the airport close to the cargo area. The streets are dark and no one except some crazy drivers are moving around. The complete way is not covered by side walks. You need to use the street moving forward. The last 200m are the most dangerous from the traffic standpoint. The hotel is located direct at a speed way without side walk. So the 3km walk is not recommended. The hotel offers every 30min a Shuttle Service. Use this or a taxi. Have fun in Milano
First, the worst: after a long day of travel, I arrived at Linate and called to be picked up by the shuttle. After it did not show for 27 minutes (and I waited outside in the cold, surrounded by smokers), I called again. They said they'd send the shuttle right away, and it did come 10 minutes later. I've read a similar story here before, where it took several calls to be picked up. The shuttle driver was extremely nice, and the front desk was very apologetic. I was told that they were very busy and forgot to tell the driver when I first called. Big fail on the part of an AIRPORT hotel! The room was surprisingly quiet. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable but it was fine - standard European mattress, harder than we are used to in the U.S. Wifi didn't work in the lobby early morning, and barely worked in the room the night before.
I stayed at this hotel to satisfy IHG bonus requirements and because it was a low cost option. The gentleman checking me in was very helpful. Top notch customer service. The hotel is very nice but set in the middle of nowhere. They have a hotel shuttle that technically runs every half hour to Linate Airport but doesn’t run unless you call or you show up at the front. It takes about 5 mins to get you to the airport using the back way. A taxi will cost you €15 from the Airport. The 73 bus runs from the airport to downtown Milan. You could take the free shuttle to and from the airport and hop on the 73 bus to and from Milan. You just have to do it when the hotel shuttle is running. It probably takes about 30-40 mins each way to the city. The property is nice and the rooms clean and well maintained. Perfect hotel for a long layover at Linate Airport and very doable trip to the city.
My son and I stayed here for one night, prior to flying out of Linate. This is strictly a hotel to take advantage of for its proximity to the airport and its free airport shuttle. That being said. I had no complaints. We ate dinner in the on site restaurant. Very reasonable and good service. The breakfast was better than expected. I miss these European breakfasts now that I am back home. The room was clean and quiet.
I was staying overnight prior to a flight, Had breakfast which was enjoyable. The room was too warm and the air conditioning didn't seem to work at all, and the wifi was entirely unusable. The room was otherwise comfortable, clean and welcoming. The shuttle service was extremely helpful.
Free airport pickup worked fine once I’d rung hotel and understood the bus goes from door 4 which is on the departure level not arrivals. Room was 23-24C and stuffy. Reception said aircon is switched off in October so poor night sleep in heat. Don’t open the window because 1. Bugs from lake) 2. Road noise 3. Airplanes taking off overhead. Room service was limited.
We stayed here in June and the experience was not good. We stayed here again in September and the experience was even worse. If all you want is a bed then it serves its purpose, but if you expect any service it would be better to go somewhere else. In June there was a single waiter trying to cover both the bar and the early evening dinner service. He was totally stressed and quite abrupt. When a tour group came in there ensued a furious row between him and the tour guide in the middle of the dining room. Service at the bar during this time ceased totally. In September initial impressions were better. Check in was friendly and efficient. At 18:30 the bar was unattended, but the receptionist was able to summon a waitress who was friendly and gave us a drink. When we went through to the dining room the fragile nature of the service was again apparent. The waiter on duty that evening is from London apparently. We know this because we heard his life story several times as he wasted time at various tables. After having sat at our table for twenty minutes and being ignored I wondered how long this could continue. Unfortunately I will never know. After having heard him relating his life history several times I decided to leave. The reception and bar area is quite uninviting and looks very dated. It is apparent the Holiday Inn brand is no guarantee of quality and service. The room and bathroom are quite adequate, and if the only requirement is for a bedroom the hotel may be acceptable for a one night stay.
Reception: no acknowledgment for Spire - couldn't be bothered to be pleasant Room: very small and shabby, door handle fell off, bathroom door impossible to close Internet: don't even bother ! It is terrible Food: pretty awful at best - how can Italians muck up pasta??? Bar: good luck as nobody around at bar or reception. Waiter rude to me when I asked where the bar staff were. Location: 15 minutes from airport Will not wish to return here - IHG you need to I investigate this place as it is damaging the brand.
