A late arrival was no problem and at check-in I immediately paid city taxes sinces i wanted to leave early in the morning without hussle. Room was fine. But in the morning a leaving my room key reception asked me to pay taxes. When I made clear I already had done so (and no, for 85 cents I did not ask for an invoice or receipt) they guy became extremely unfriendly, even chased me to the parkig. Threatening and screaming he would call the police. So that was once but never again.
Clean rooms, if a bit dated. Comfortable beds, and quiet night despite being so near the road. Great value for a budget hotel. Excellent breakfast, didn't try the restaurant, but probably good as well (has a veggie option). Not much else in the area, but not a problem for a night's stay. Choice of supermarkets nearby if you don't fancy the restaurant.
Friends of ours swear by Campanile, so we tried this one. We hope our experience is not typical. The room was grubby with suspicious brown marks on the walls, the two chairs were unsafe with sprung joints, the floor sticky. Only one bedside table making it difficult for whoever slept on the other side. An old unusable fitting for the kettle was still attached to the wall, reducing desk-top space. But it was the bathroom that was really appalling: mould in all areas and a whopping hole in the ceiling over the bath where a leak a long time ago had pulled down the plasterboard and covering - it was hanging like curtains! It was late and the place appeared full so we put up with it. Plus-points - WiFi worked and the linens were crisp, clean and fresh. Moral - if you stay here, check your room before you accept it. Ours certainly did not resemble the pictures on the website.
We stayed here on the 1st night of a tour to Italy with our motorcycle pals. Our room was quite dark, it was very basic, it faced the motorway, but wasn't too noisy. I guess the old saying is true - you get what you pay for!! It wasn't expensive but it wasn't good. It reminded us why we usually don't book this type of hotel.
Good room, good bed. Friendly staff. Convenient location near the highway. Restaurant was good with reasonable prices. My only complaint is that the air conditioning unit makes a lot of noise even when it's not in use. I would recommend this as a stopover hotel. Price was very reasonable.
We stayed here on the 28th July 2015. When you look at the photos for the Campanile hotels on the booking sites I have to say I think they show the best bits. When we turned up it didn't look very nice at all, but I've rated the hotel based on the price I paid, which was just £28 per room. The hotel was grubby, dated and worn, which fits in fairly well with the area and the rest of Nancy that we got to see. Unfortunately, I think this hotel is a case of you get what you pay for - in this case the bare minimum. The WiFi was the slowest of all the hotels I stayed in during my 10 days in Europe, and had a habit of kicking you off all the time. For the positives the receptionist was welcoming and tried hard to communicate with us in English, which I have to say was a much better attempt than our French. There were plenty of plug sockets in the room, and a kettle with tea and coffee, reasonably sized TV and the room wasn't too warm (which was lucky as there was a notice up when we arrived alerting us to technical difficulties meaning air con wasn't working).
I guess the title gives away our experience at this budget hotel. Whilst conveniently placed for an overnight stay on the drive back from Italy, you are treated as just that a one night stand. The room was in poor condition and had not been cleaned too well, road noise became a problem as we had to open the windows due to the air conditioning not working. Whilst I do not expect the staff to be speak great English, I would have hoped for some minor understanding. When we asked for the cutlery to be changed due to it being dirty we were meet with the infamous French shrug. By the time the food arrived, and we had ordered the simplest items which we thought they could not get wrong, we had lost the will to complain about its poor quality.
After a skiing accident, we booked a room at this hotel to cut our trip back in half. Unfortunately the "accessible" rooms were already taken by regular guest, of course, we booked less than 24 hours in advance so our options were limited. They did swap us however with another guest to have a room on ground floor, in stead of the first floor where we were originally planned. Our room overlooked the noisy motorway, but with both entrance doors shut you hardly heard any noise. Use earplugs and you hear nothing anymore. The noise infringement of other rooms is also quite limited. The room is small, but very clean and smelled great. The only downside is a bit of mold you find at the bathtub, so I guess it's time to give the outdated bathtubs a good scrub. Other than that, no issues whatsoever. Breakfast is good and fresh, unfortunately only cold breakfast is served. We also had dinner the evening before, and were quite surprised by the tasty, fresh and original food. Free parking, Wifi worked most of the time. Good location for business people, and people on the road.
I have stayed overnight many times at Campanile hotels because of their convenient locations, easy access to main roads and consistent standards of accommodation, food and prices. Campanile Nancy Ouest is very typical.
We stayed here on a bike tour. The rooms were fine and the staff very helpfull. Hot drink making facilities in the room which was a good size. Parking was on site and gated at night. Unfortunately is about the only choice for somewhere to eat and the food and drink were very expensive. We have been visiting France for years and this place was having a laugh. For that reason it scores average.
