I was visiting family in Scotland for 3 weeks and needed a bit of sun so went into local travel agent and found this place. Reading some of the reviews we chose this. On arrival we were greeted by the night manager who was very helpful and even had a meal ready for us as it was late arrival. Rooms were as per photos and are basic but clean. Don't expect nice towels as they must be from when the place was first built. No clean sheets the whole week either. The food was plentiful but very basic which didn't bother me too much as i am someone who likes to try the local food, but looking and listening to others there were a lot of people very upset. My biggest concern was the lack of hygiene as the salads were left uncovered the whole time and with the amount of flys and wasps it was not a good look. (Someone must have complained as while we were there it looked liked tour guides arrived and then they started to clean and cover things) Staff in the morning were helpful (one in particular Hugo) but the rest were in fact bloody rude. If you could not speak Spanish they didn't care about you. Bad mistake guys as you were fair game for some good old fashioned Kiwi piss take. I too can be rude if you push me.... The impression I got was it was nearing the end of their busy period and they were tired and didn't care. Don't go here if you are after some night life or entertainment as you are stuck miles away from this. Would I go back here.... No. I would have to say that even the most basic motel here in NZ would still be better than this place... sorry guys but get your act together.
having been on 4 all inclusive holidays to different destinations with jet 2, all been excellent until this. Had to eat out 5 nights as food awful, chips luke warm, salad uncovered and flies and wasps everywhere, daytime snacks consisted of uncovered biscuits and cakes, no effort put into evening meal, everyone respectful but hotel provided no tablecloths, had to help yourself to table mats, always shortage of cutlery. Bins by pool rarely emptied. Towels changed twice per week and paper thin. Sheets changed once. No hairdryer. Worse holiday ever for us.
Very clean pretty area,....but the whole place needs an update, beds lumpy , towels so old they don't dry, food vey basic , no entertainment at all, not enough information to hand. Bed linen only change once. Staff were excellent doing the best they could , no fault there at all. Good bus service, fiesta in Mahon excellent.
Mid size resort (so no huge queues or noise)...relaxing when I was there mid Sept...mostly families / older guests. Cute apartments with a good spec I.e. everything you need and the bedrooms are a good size. Staff welcoming and friendly...Luis (the manager) sorted me out with some trips I wanted to do that were not on the standard itinery. Would come back with my own family
The hotel was very basic but not to bad for a 3* we booked through jet 2 and the hotel was pretty much as described in the brochure.the pool was ok but there was no entertainment of any kind not even any music, the food was ok but there was always something you could find to eat chips every day was a bit of a bind and more potato choices would be an improvement. The best meal was breakfast, and the fresh fruit was very good. The drinks were ok and the bar staff worked long hours but a smile from them wouldn't cost anything. Our room was very good for a 3* with a decent sized balcony and lovely sea view, the beach was about a 10-15 min walk and is worth it crystal clear water and soft clean sand and you can walk out about 30 metres and the sea only comes to your waist. If you drop lucky like we did you get some decent waves about 6-8 ft high. The area itself is very remote with only a couple of shops and bars, the area is crying out for investment
This is an email that I sent to jet 2. Following a recent holiday to TRH Tirant Playa Apartments in Menorca from 13 August-18 August 2017, I have decided to contact you to complain. I always read reviews before booking holidays. However, I usually go with an open mind because one person's complaint is not always another's. After booking last year's holiday to another resort in Menorca with yourselves and it being amazing and 3 star rated, I expected 3 stars across the board. OH HOW WRONG WE WERE. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a helpful member of staff. We found our room (No 37) easily and it was as expected. After unpacking, we went down for our first meal (lunch) and our (horrific) first impression remained the same for every other meal we had. There were no tables available (nowhere near enough tables in or out for the amount of people there) so we waited until one became free by which time there was no edible food left. I myself, eat a varied range of food but I can honestly say that not one meal on any day was what I would call acceptable. Hot food wasn't always hot, all cold food was uncovered and the flies had a ball. I lived on bread and butter and the amazing choice of potatoes - NOT - we were served fries every lunch and evening. The food was in my opinion, disgusting and if I owned a company like I Jet 2, I would be ashamed to include it in my "ALL INCLUSIVE" package holidays. The snack bar that should have been available every day for 3 hours was closed and being used as a storage area. The 'WiFi' that my children spent some of their own euros on was miss and miss most of the time (a waste of money). The bedroom beds were rock hard and the overhead fan was old and noisy. The lounge beds were fine but there should have been a fan in there too and black out curtains. The towels were threadbare and not fit for purpose. There weren't enough chairs or sunbeds by the pool. People left their towels on beds overnight so no one else had a chance. I really don't like complaining, but if you don't sort out little problems that really annoy YOUR customers who use THEIR hard earned cash to pay for a little bit of sunshine YOU will lose business. On a positive note, I would like to compliment all the staff who worked there, they were friendly, helpful and very, very overworked. The complex and resort were clean and tidy and the views were very spectacular. This is only the second time we have booked 'All Inclusive' and I reckon due to this bad (one off I'm sure) experience, I don't think we'll ever do it again. It was a waste of money and we would have paid less overall and eaten better if we'd booked to go self catering. I have no booking reference as my husband shredded and trash binned (in disgust) all documents upon our return. He was the lead passenger (Warren C) and outgoing flight was LS375 in was LS376. Regards A very disappointed customer and her family Sue C The reply I received was from someone who quite obviously didn't read my email properly. I will never book another holiday with Jet 2. They wouldn't know what customer service was if it hit them in the face. Sent from my Sony Xperia™ smartphone
Let me start by saying that I found some of the reviews on this hotel very harsh - this is a 3 star hotel and that is reflected in its pricing and facilities, anyone expecting 5 star accommodation and food need to get a touch of reality and put their hand in their wallet and pay up. I paid £1700 for 2 adults and 2 children to go all inclusive in August. This too me was a fair price considering the time of year, i.e. School holidays when travel companies take us all for a ride. The accommodation is decent and well equipped with ,microwave, toaster, cooked and fridge / freezer. We had a one bedroom apartment with twin beds and bed settee which were comfortable. There is a fan in the bedroom but no air conditioning. The hotel itself has a good sized and clean pool. There is a small child's play area but there are ample grounds throughout the hotel for kids to play whatever games. There is a pool table, air hockey table and a ride on car for toddlers. Thankfully the hotel don't do pool activities so you can relax by the pool without the cur to Euro electro vibe blasting from a stereo. Now on to the food. I found it adequate. Breakfast is excellent, with plenty of choice of cooked food. I'm a cereal eater, but there were only a few varieties available none of which were to my taste. However, if you like a cooked breakfast fill your boots. There is also a choice of cold meats, breads and cakes. Lunch and dinner were fine. The hotel provides a choice of 3 meats and a fish dish each serving. These are accompanied by usual chips, small choice of vegetables and salad. Yes I have had a wider choice in more expensive hotels and it has been better quality, but I was happy with the choice. My eldest was a bit more picky, but even she didn't go hungry. Local drinks are included in the deal, as is coffee / tea / hot chocolate throughout the day. The hotel provides an afternoon snack, but this is vey limited and was probably my only gripe. My kids like a snack in the afternoon to keep them going till dinner, there wasn't any choice and if you weren't quick then it had gone. The staff work very hard at the hotel, in fact I don't think they stop. I found them to be friendly and helpful. I found myself wanting to write a review as I had read some reviews of the hotel before we arrived and some were enough to put me off, however having spent a week at the hotel I wanted to redress some of the overly negative reviews. I've stayed at various hotels around the world, from youth hostels through to 5 star exclusives so I think I'm pretty open minded. This hotel served a purpose for me and my family, it allowed a break in a lovely country at a decent price. Don't be put off by the negative reviews, go there with the right expectations about where you are staying and you will enjoy yourself.
We travelled to this resort on a late booking, but as we love Menorca we were really looking forward to it. We were 'all inclusive' but wouldn't necessarily have selected this had it not been a late booking. Accommodation - Well appointed, spacious apartments. They are a bit tired and run down, but nothing a touch of TLC, updating and some money spent wouldn't improve. They would certainly benefit from air-con... or at least the option of an additional fan provided for no cost, (they charged 20 euros for a week). Cleaning seemed very hit and miss - we had fresh towels less than 48 hours after we arrived, and no cleaning, clean bedding or towels after this. The towels need replacing as they are all very threadbare and using them resembles drying yourself with a paper bag! Grounds - The resort is attractive, with a lovely pool, it is situated in a lovely quiet location, with stunning views. The grounds staff work hard daily to maintain the grounds and pools. Given the mountainous area the grounds are uneven and sloping in some areas and some of the steps are very steep yet narrow. Staff - Some of the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful (the grounds man saw me struggle on steep stairs with cases when we arrived and rushed over to carry them for us), one of the men on reception was equally helpful and friendly. The lifeguard is a happy and cheerful man, always willing to talk, despite not having much English. The bar and 'waiting staff' are a mixed bunch. A couple of the younger males and one of the elder ones were friendly and efficient, however the young lady and the older man were both rude and surly. If they bothered to acknowledge you were speaking to them, they did so with a brief nod or 1 word comment, but much of the time the female didn't respond - even to attempts to speak Spanish, or when thanking her for service. The older man was harsh and abrupt in language and manner. Lack of manners and rudeness have always irritated me! Food - We were all inclusive, but not through choice! I can only agree with the majority of the comments made by other reviewers - I seriously wouldn't feed the food to my cat! Breakfast was about the best meal, with various options (cooked, continental, cereals, fruits and bread for toast).. however the only items that were covered were the hot options, and everything else was then often and repeatedly visited by the large amount of flies. They could certainly do with insect control, because if it wasn't flies it was wasps. We made tuna rolls most days for lunch, and ate out every night, spending most of our spending money on food. Interesting that the day the rep visited mid afternoon, the sandwiches they put out were covered up and the following day, when apparently someone visited the restaurant during dinner, making notes on a clip board, the other holiday makers commented that the food was the best it has been... the following day it was back to 'normal' standard. One night the smell of the food cooking was awful - it seems that the cooking oil needed replacing as it smelt really rancid. If you do fancy a really well-cooked meal, served in a fab environment by delightful staff then visit Okapi, which is just up the hill, a short walk away. If you go to the beach, travel to the far corner, and follow the boardwalk to a bridge - there are a number of turtles in the lagoon. Well worth the steps to get there! We enjoyed visits to Formells and Es Mercadal, which are short bus journeys away. Summary - There is much potential in this accommodation - it does need updating and money spent on it and the staff could do with some 'customer service' training, but given the location and facilities, I believe it would be a good investment for them.
Our family of 4 spent 10 nights self catering at this hotel and it was the most relaxing family holiday we have ever had. The day manager, Luis, is super friendly and helpful however the night manager, name unknown, is not as friendly or helpful. I cannot praise the bar and restaurant staff enough - they were all very friendly and helpful. We ate lunch and dinner in the hotel restuarant a few times during our stay - we were able to order Menorquin food, it was super tasty and very reasonable in price. They have the Menorquin speciality of Padron Peppers on the menu which are delicious with a beer! There are 2 supermarkets close by - the one down the hill is notably more expensive than the one just up the hill. There are a few restaurants nearby which are very decent - the best of which is Cafe Del Nord and the worts of which is a tapas bar called Sa Dolca! The beach is a short walk from the hotel and it is absolutely beautiful - if you walk to the far end, you can see wild turtles swimming and basking where there is a little view point. A truly amazing sight. Apartments are basic and a little dated but they are clean, spacious and well looked after. WE had such a brilliant time - we will definitely be returning to the Tirant Playa next year.
I'd start with the apartment: it's fairly close to the reception, we had a 1 bedroom apartment which was in clean and good condition on arrival. I think the place was comfortable and spacious for the three of us. There's a balcony with a spectacular view. The bedroom had a ceiling fan and there's no air-condition in any part of the apartment. I have to say that there's cleaning and fresh towels only twice a week. Service and staff were really friendly and helpful. Haven't had any bad experience whilst we were there. There's no entertainment, if you would like to relax and a quiet place, it's for you. Location is good. If you hire a car from the airport, the place is about 30 mins away (30 km / 18.5 miles). There are several restaurants, couple of shops close by (walking distance, max 5 mins away). Food: I have to mention few words about food. We went all-inclusive and were a bit disappointed by the dinner. Breakfast and lunch weren't bad, but have to add that if you snooze, you loose. I mean if you get too late down to the restaurant then you might miss some of the nice food. On the other hand dinners weren't appetizing at all. We had to eat out most of the evenings. The food was excellent in the surrounding restaurants though. We went to explore the Island by the hired car and got to some beautiful places, I personally think it's worth to hire a car to be able to see more of Menorca. To sum it up if you know what you gonna get, it's worth going there.
