Me and my son stayed in the milanos for a week at the start of August 2017. The hotel was nice and in the most part clean . Staff were friendly and helpful at the reception and check in was quick and simple and although we arrived early our room was still ready and waiting for us. The room was clean, and had everything needed although the balcony was quite small. As we were on the second floor the restaurant kitchen was just below so at times it could smell with the door open in the evening but it wasnt over powering. The food in the restaurant was a little repetitive and not a great selection, so we ventured out to the local restaurants on a couple of nights. Also in the restaurant the drinks were only available on a table service only basis, but the waiters and waitresses were quite slow and rude. The staff at the bar were fantastic, even if there was a queue others were soon on hand to help out and they were always friendly. Outside there were always plenty of sunbeds to choose from, and the pool was always clean. My son is five years old and he went into the kids club every day, he is quite shy and reserved but the reps that ran the club were amazing with him. Two in particular, uxia and philomena (i think that was her name) really looked after him and made him feel welcome and involved, often spending time explaining how to do things to him and giving him confidence. He really loved going every day and really made his holiday enjoyable and memorable. The evening entertainment was generally very good, but the kids disco was very much aimed at spanish and Italian children. Very little english was spoken so the British kids felt a bit left out, a few people said the same thing. I would certainly return to this hotel, but not on an all inclusive package. There were a number of nice places to eat within walking distance of the hotel.
Having visited its neighbour "Royal Son Bou Family club" last year, it is difficult to review without comparing, however the Sol Milanos just lacked a little something!!! The positives probably just out way the negatives so would give it a 3.5 out of 5. The positives being it's great location by the beach front and being able to walk freely into the beautiful beach area only 100 yards away. The food for an all inclusive was excellent, with great choice and little queuing times. The restaurant staff on the whole were excellent although the bar staff could be a little cheerier, and perhaps a few more needed to keep up with demand. The Sol Milanos is far cheaper than the Royal Son Bou so I suppose you get what you pay for, with the rooms here being a little dated and tired. The maid service was great and they worked hard to keep the rooms tidy. The couple of negatives which frustrated the majority of guests we spoke to is the rule not to take inflatables into the main pool. Our kids and the majority of small children love to play with them and after buying two from their own shop we're told not to use them. The only option being a deep pool at the end of the pool area or a small 16 foot square baby pool. In fact the lifeguard was on a mission to stop fun generally as we couldn't even sit with a drink by the pool edge and watch our kids splash about. As the days went on and new guests arrived we watched their faces as they were told to remove their inflatables, balls and Lilos from the pool. When questioned multiple times he directed us and others back to the hotel management, so I suppose he was just following the rules. It also felt their was a bias towards the Italian guests who had events organised solely for them. Twice we tried to join in, to be told it was an Italian only show or an Italian only kids club day. However we never had an all English day!!!!! Evening entertainment was excellent and great day activities so plenty to do. On the whole we had a great week so if your looking for a well priced all inclusive close to the beach in a beautiful area then this was for you.
Great beachfront location. Rooms are clean and functional, we're on the 4th floor and has lovely views. All inclusive drinks are ok, about the same as we've had elsewhere with a good variety and bottled water (which I've never had on AI elsewhere) Main problem for me is food - the variety is fine but nothing is warm, had cannelloni last night and it was cold, other pasta was barely warm at best - even when we used the hot dinner plates - surely they should be able to keep food hot? Still here for another few days enjoying the sun and pool (which is not heated but you get used to it)
I am staying at the hotel at the moment and have to say all the staff at the hotel have been so helpful. Nothing has bee to much and everything we have requested as happened immediately. Have to mention Pablo on Reception who has been so helpful. Lots of entertainment for children and fantastic lifeguards.
Oh dear Thomas cook! Why don't you tell people that they will not be able to have fun in the pool? No inflatables allowed... even lilos! No music around the pool... no entertainment apart from an aerobic class for an hour at lunch time. Soul less... what are people to do if they can't even entertain themselves without being reprimanded? Entertainers at night forget there are English people, who have also paid alot of money, trying to do their best to have a good time. Food is great at breakfast... lunch is appalling and dinner was also very hit and miss. I suppose we've been spoiled by visiting Egypt and Turkey, who actually like their paying guests! The worst £3000 I've ever spent! On a positive note... the view was great.. but then so is Devon!
We arrived home today and I feel I need to put a POSITIVE review about this hotel as before our trip I was really put off by the reviews prior to going. So.....we stayed in the pinguinos side of hotel. 2nd floor so we always used stairs. Room as expected were dated but were clean and maid service great! Air conditioning was good enough to have to turn it down some nights! Breakfast, endless choice of full English breakie (including English sausages) plus pancakes waffles churros doughnuts and more! Pool:- never had any problems getting beds I think this is mainly because the hotel is on the beach and also predominantly Spanish/ Italian who don't seem to get up until 10! By this time we were half way through out morning! Lol. Also dinner was busy later at night so going to dinner at 7.30/8 would always guarantee you a good seat at entertainment! Would recommend lion king! Hot food available all day long and also fruit / salad and ice cream for kids....bottled water included in any AI which u rarely get in any AI and I've stayed in 5* hotels. Kids loved beach which has lots of water sports. I wouldn't recommend water park! Too far away and far too small! Toilets around hotel were immaculate and always cleaners around. Plastic cups are used but are a high standard and collected constantly collected round pool. Watch out for lifeguard! I think he's out for lifeguard of the year award. Advise to use all your inflatables/ balls before 11 when he starts as after then it's not worth the hassle! Overall brilliant holiday!!! Would recommend!
This is going to be a short and to the point review. First don't believe the bad reviews!! I stayed in July with my grown up son. I have stayed in some excellent hotels ( Hilton ) and this was just as good, the decor was lovely, the food was lovely, the staff are lovely ( you have to be nice to them if you want them to be nice to you ) our room was very modern and bathroom was well modern, don't see how some reviews say it was dated ???? We will hopefully be back next year
The location is great, right on the beach. The kids loved being able to go from the beach to the pool in one minute. The hotel rooms, as it has been said here, do need some work (our bathroom door had bits missing and even though that isn't an actual issue, it shouldn't be like this), there's practically no water pressure in the shower head and it's hard to get the water at a temperatura that isn't either too hot or too cold. Beds and room space were not a problem for us (2 adults and 2 kids, 6 and 11). At meal times we had to wait a good while for the elevators, so most of the times we would just take the stairs to and from the 7th floor. The kids adored it and it made wonders for my legs!! :D Breakfast was very nice, and since my son is allergic to milk I found it very helpful that they had allergy notes on most foods. They also had non-dairy drinks (oats, almond) upon request, and soy milk at the buffet. Unfortunetely, lunch and dinner weren't all perfect. There was no fresh soup , only instant soups that tasted all the same. With so many children and babies there, I'd thought they could at least have one fresh vegetable soup. There was a lot of choice, but by the end of day 2 it pretty much all tasted the same. We rented a car for 2 days and I really enjoyed eating out that time. Maybe they could do like at the Iberostar chain, where they have thematic evenings, so you have different dishes to try every night. The night shows were amazing, and we were particularly impressed with the Freddie Mercury tribute, the guy, Nico, was amazing!! The drinks at the bar were good and the expresso/cafesolo was really good (for us, Portuguese, that's definetely a plus!!). Staff was really nice, as everyone in Menorca!! Maó, Ciutadella, Cala Macarella (prepare to walk to this one), Cala Galdana, all deserve a visit.
I don't normally book package holidays or stay in 3 star hotels but we had a great holiday. This is nothing more than a 3 star but I was very impressed with how hard the staff work. The rooms are very dated and basic but as advertised. As you would expect from a 3 star service is very limited with mainly self serve and queuing at a bar but even though there were long queues the staff did a good job. The pool area was surprisingly civilised for a limited area with 2 large tower blocks to service. The hotel stops at the gate so there is no service on the beach. The beach is busy but very nice and the see is great for kids. Dinner was manageable. Very noisy buffet with obviously lots of kids and you do get drinks service at table for dinner. The food was normally ok and most people could choose an option that works. Again I don't normally like buffets but this one was better than I expected and we didn't starve despite some complex eating needs. Very good attention to allergies always good to see. We went out a few evenings to eat and local restaurants are easy to walk to. Excellent pizza place worth visiting. Worth getting a hire car and driving around a bit. Very easy. This will never be a pretty hotel as it was built when looks weren't considered but the reception has been made to look reasonably modern. The evening entertainment seemed to go down well and there are some dated and often broken games to play including a pretty poor crazy golf and sloping pool tables. While I'm unlikely to go back I'm sure many people, will have happy holidays here as we did. I knew it wouldn't be my style and it wasn't but that didn't matter.
We stayed in the hotel for a week. the hotel is built on a beautiful long sandy beach which might be the most beautiful beach in Menorca. the hotel consists of two buildings each has 11 floors and its own restaurant. each restaurant has slightly different opening hours. the rooms have normal size and are standardly furnished and have small balcony. the elevators are very problematic we stopped in every floor nearly always and it took us loong time from the 10th floor to the ground floor. the main restaurant seemed to be better. the food was repetitive but for a week's stay it was not a big deal - italian type of cuisine animation- immensely loud music during the animation sessions at the pools which I would not be able to survive. We stayed the whole week on the beach. the umbrella and sun beds are really expensive on the beach- 17 euro per day the kids' club - specil club for italian kids and second one international. I have no idea what was their programme. Would I come back - definitely not
