This is the 2nd time we have stayed at the Marina apts in as many years and this time we took the kids both who are teenagers. The marina apartments are a fantastic base for getting around Cala'n Bosch close to the beach and all of the restaurants and the amenities of the marina close by. The apartments are clean and basic but everything you require for your stay and budget. As the saying goes you get what you pay for and in our opinion the Smartline Marina offers good value for money. This year the added bonus was that Wi-Fi had been installed throughout the rooms and the hotel has listened to the customer! Our room as per 2016 was cleaned every other day by the cleaning staff who are a absolute credit to the hotel and I just wish more people especially the folk who write reviews on TA would show more respect and appreciation for their role in making their holiday special! Everyone at the Marina are very friendly and welcoming and this year we met Christian the lifeguard who was a lovely guy and held a wealth of information about where to go outside of Cala'n Bosch and recommended a day at Son Saura beach which is only a 15/20 min drive by car and was fantastic with crystal clear water and soft white sand and I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who wishes to explore further away from the pool and Cala'n Bosch beach!! Overall Cala'n Bosch is a purpose built resort designed for tourists and should be taken as such! The whole area is clean and tidy but never lively enough to be overwhelming. The marina apartments have 2 main pools which were busy but not overly when we stayed. This year we stayed on self catering basis as last year we didn't really make full use of the all inclusive at the Hotel Cala'n Bosch just across the road but staying SC didn't retract whatsoever from our holiday experience. As this year we took the children we stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was fit for purpose and exactly what we wanted. The only downside was this year it was quite noisy and we could hear people in adjacent rooms moving suitcases and also along the corridor outside of our room but maybe this should be expected and shouldn't be taken as a negative by the owners and staff as it's completely out of their control. Like most things in life you can pick over anything and everything but the bottom line is the Marina apartments are in an excellent location which should suit most people families and couples. Next year we're planning our holiday in another part of the world but only because we've been to the Cala'n Bosch twice in 2 years and just fancy a change of scenery as the world is a big place but rest assured we will definitely be returning to Menorca again and would stay at the Smartline Marina again. Thank you again all of the staff including all of the cleaning staff, Christian the lifeguard and the reception guys and gals see you sometime in the future. Finally which was a lovely touch by the Marina apartments as we were returning for our 2nd successive year we received a bottle of Cava on our arrival which lasted all of 10mins! Thank you
We got back today(23/09/17 from a 7 night stay at this hotel/apartments and can't fault the place.we arrived about 11am.we was greeted with a complimentary drink and a smile from the front of house staff.quick check in and given room 120 on the 1st floor.the room was spacious.clean and well kitted out for a self catering holiday. the kitchenette is equipped with microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge and 2 ring halogen hob.plenty of cutlery, crockery and couple pans, utensils. The bathroom was clean and had a bath/shower which was very good.plenty of hot water.theres also towels and a good hair drier.(the wife's words) :) Bedroom was of a good size with flat screen tv(unfortunately Majority of channels was Spanish but as in a Spanish resort what do you expect but that's not a gripe either) you don't go on holiday to watch tv )2 single beds pushed together which was a small hindrance as they did part quite easily but wasn't a problem, there was a reasonable sized wardrobe with hangers which makes a change and a safe(optional extra charge) 2 towels which you can take down to the 2 pools.1 children's and an adults pool.as we came after the school holidays we had no problem getting sun beds but during school holidays I can't say. A nice balcony with a nice view of the sea and pools but unfortunately slightly spoilt by a badly placed palm tree but hay ho,can't be helped.if your happy to not have a sun trap balcony and have a nice cool 1 then this room hits the spot as the sun didn't get a good hold on it so was nice as a cool down area. The marina has some beautiful restaurants and bars.found to be very competitive priced and caters for all tastes and 1 restaurant (El Pato) even caters for gluten free.theres children's play areas and plenty of shops for gifts and general tat.perfume shop, tabac and supermarkets. The beach is literally 2 mins away.golden sand and nice warm blue sea.you can hire 2 sun beds and an umbrella for €18 but there's plenty of beach to lay on if you don't want beds. I hope this review helps and the couple of pictures we have took also give you an idea of what to expect. 🙂 if you want a British fry up there's chaplins in the marina and I would also recommend Italiano capricio for a nice Italian.feel free to tick ✅ the helped button.
Arrived early and the friendly receptionist checked us in immediately. Modern apartments and very clean. Comfy bed, fantastic view, plenty of clothes storage, lots of hangers. Kitchen area fine, bath and shower excellent. We were there for 5 day and had our rooms cleaned 3 times. Would thoroughly recommend these apartments.
We came back from the smartline marina hotel,Cal n bosh, menorca on sep 8th. We had a studio apartment on a self catering basis, let's talk about the hotel first,it's our 2nd smartline hotel, (the first being in Corfu). The smartline hotels are basicly the same, clean, bright &friendly, our apartment consisted of a bed, wardrobe, kitchen, dinning table &chairs,& tv. The kitchen was well equipped with a 2 ring hob, fribge/freezer, micro wave, & utensils etc.balcony with table & chairs. The staff were always pleasant & helpfull , there we 3 pools, 1 for babies, 1 for children, &1 for adults. There was a supermarket attached to the hotel which we found quite competitive with others in the area, (there were 2 others over the bridge), anyone on half board or more had to cross the road to the sister hotel (the smartline cala n bosh) for food. Now the area, the beach is about 50mtrs.away, with lovely sand &turquoise water, but be warned, it costs €18 for 2 beds per day. The marina area is very picturesque, with restaurants all around.
We stayed for a week from 4-11 August in a 2 bedroom apartment which was huge! We had 3 air conditioning units (which was free) and a massive balcony with tables, chairs and 3 sunbeds on it so no complaints about the room! The 2 pools can also be used by the sister hotel so get very busy and the sunbeds around the pools are very close together. We had to get up early each day to reserve our beds which was a bit of a pain when you are on holiday. The apartments are very close to the marina where there are loads of restaurants and bars although we found these quite expensive probably because of the marina location. A lovely place to stay. Very quiet and relaxing.
3rd time at these apartments, and 3rd review! As I've said before, the massive plus point of these apartments is the location. Central to the beach, marina, restaurants and 5 mins walk to the water park. The resort is as good as ever, and we all loved our holiday. I think it's a real shame to see so many all inclusive wristbands in a resort that has so many good value and good quality restaurants, also couldn't believe how many people I saw carrying food from Burger King this year, several families seemed to live on it (despite the AI wristbands), but each to their own I guess (I like AI, just nit here, the food choice locally is too good to be stuck in a hotel restaurant) The staff were fantastic as ever, many recognised us from our previous 2 visits and they bought us a bottle of drink to our room within 10 mins of arriving which was a nice touch. The sea view room was possibly an only just sea view room, but that's a non issue really as we didn't spend much time there. We've seen the apartments transform decor wise over the years, they are 90% done but I think the bathrooms need a lot of attention, our bath was rusty, the shower rail was held up by a butchered plug chain, but everything worked and I really am not picking I guess, although personally I think the bathrooms do need doing asap. As much as I love Cala n Bosch and will return one day, I doubt we'll be back for a while as too many other places to explore. Price wise I think Thomas cook are taking the p1@@, and I believe they own these apartments so can't blame suppliers. (2014 studio, 2 adults 1 child cost £1700ish, 2015 1 bed apt pretty much the same, 2017 2 adults, 1 kid, 1 infant £2700ishl the same for 2018 if booked is £3500!!!!). At these prices I will not even consider coming back, but I guess the market will dictate them, interesting to not though the planes were not full, which for August to a med resort I have never experienced, so maybe I'm not the only one to think the prices are going insane. Bear in mind the above prices are self catering, add the food and drink and you are at 4/5 star AI Mexico money. I realise the pricing isn't necessarily the fault of the hotel, but I think it's only fair to mention prices in reviews when they are an issue. Also 50 euros for a safe for 2 weeks is ridiculous. Please don't let these issues put you off, at the right price this is a great relaxing holiday in a great location with amazing people, will genuinely miss this resort and the apartments as we've had 3 superb family holidays here, but as I said before there is a world to explore and it would be a shame to go to the same place every year
To say this place is basic is an understatement. The picture shows the apartment we booked 213A as we entered for the first time ! The floor was flooded by a leaking air conditioner, the curtains we drawn showing holes in them and the walls looked as if they had been knocked down and rebuilt by a very poor builder ! The bathroom had a tiny shower over a 1m square bath! We were moved after complaining to 109 which was better but still the most basic holiday apartment we have ever stayed in. In 109 the outlet from the air conditioner flooded the balcony every time it was on, the TV only had two English news channels and the signal was hit and miss. The walls are paper thin and every noise can be heard from outside your room. The hotel Calen Bosh which is opposite, who's facilities you can use is just as basic and very noisy. The pool at the apartments are surrounded by old broken tiles and the whole outside area looks old and dated. On the plus side the shower was good and the bed comfortable, but I had that at home !! I certainly won't recommend this place to anyone.
We stayed here July into August booking two rooms, one for my parents, one for our family. On arrival our rooms weren't ready which was disappointing as we had travelled over 12 hours by then. However, the wait was worth it to have such beautifully clean rooms, appointed with everything you need for a nice stay. They provided towels which you could also use for your sunloungers/beach which you could exchange for clean ones for a small fee. Your bath towels would be changed every day off you left them in the bath. Or if you hung them up because they were ok to use again they'd be left in situ. Rooms cleaned every other day. We had a lovely big balcony with pool view which was great as our 12 year olds could use the pool while we had breakfast. We were self catering as we like to eat where and when we like. My only criticism would be that there were no snacks on offer to purchase from the pool bar. Also drinks etc were catered towards those all inclusive guests. I don't like drinks off a pump and would prefer to buy cans or bottles, including water, but you had to venture to the shop for this. It would be nice to have more choice of food/drinks so you don't need to leave the pool by day. Luckily the shop was close. Though you are not supposed to bring food/ drink from outside, we had no choice. We didn't use the hotel facilities as it was too noisy and busy for us. We prefered the peace around the pool. Though if you have busy children there is plenty of activity with something for everyone in the hotel. The lifeguard, so sorry I can't remember his name, was fantastic. Very friendly, a great knowledge of the Local area and menorca in general and would keep an eye on anyone becoming too noisy/boisterous around the pool whilst still allowing the children to have lots of safe fun. The reception/bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing being too much trouble. We booked it because of its vicinity to the beach but the beach was so busy every day. I couldn't keep a proper eye on my children as loungers were quite far back from the water edge. All the sand in front of the loungers was covered in towels and people. Almost impossible to find a path to the sea! It was a bit disappointing but we were very happy to stay by the pool and just stroll to the beach for a swim whenever we wanted. We had a fabulous holiday. All in all would thoroughly recommend it, but don't all go there or they won't have room for me to go again!! Thanks smartline marina
Positioned just a short walk from the marina and the beach gives you the best of both worlds. The hotel room was clean with a nice size balcony. Everything worked as it should. Due to its excellent position we rarely used the hotels facilities so I cannot really comment but the pools were more than adequate. We used the sister hotel a couple of times as thee is a bit more going on there. If I was going back to Cala N Bosch I would definitely consider this hotel again especially at the price we paid. Very reasonable if you find the right deal.
We stayed here end of July beginning of August for 2 weeks. We were a family of 3 adults and 2 children aged 10 and 6. We booked a 3 bed apartment on a self catering basis. As I had my mother aged 69 travelling with us, I was concerned about bunk beds in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms so we requested twin beds in one of the rooms. On arrival we couldn't have been happier as we were allocated interconnecting rooms. This meant my mum had her own studio apartment and we had a two bedroom apartment but they were joined by a door into the living room meaning mum could easily come in and eat with us but also had her own space to relax in. These were rooms 306 and 307. We had previously stayed a number of times in these apartments before the refurbishment and on the whole we were really impressed with the refurbishment. There were some things that we felt could have been done better though. The air conditioning is a welcome addition however the units are placed on the balcony and blow hot air out making it quite unbearable to sit out on it. We also had an issue with our bath where the enamel was coming off and had been covered with a bathmat. However once we notified the staff they came up to paint it straight away. This wasn't an effective repair though but obviously they couldn't replace the whole bath. Saying that they were the only two downsides. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. The whole complex is spotless and you can tell the staff work really hard. It was hard to get loungers around the pool but we were there high season and that is mostly due to other holiday makers reserving them with towels for hours before appearing. My husband would get up at 8 if we wanted a day around the pool and sit with the loungers until we got down with the kids. The pools are lovely and the lifeguard was very friendly. There was a lovely moment I witnessed where he helped an older couple. The lady needed assistance in the pool and each time they wanted to go in he would get in with them to help her to enjoy the pool. Wonderful! These are a great Base for a fabulous holiday. Can't comment on the food as we were self catering but they are in a perfect location, with gorgeous views, friendly, helpful staff and good facilities. What more could you need? We will definately be back.
