The sea never stops talking to you from below the terrace at Cala Mar. this is a secret hang out for the person who wishes quiet comfort while enjoying beautiful water. The hosts are warm and caring. The rooms sparkle and the breakfast is typical of Spain. No better place to stay on the planet and a 10 minutes walk to Ciutadella.
Super Deal. Excellent hosts. In Florida pink the Hotel is spreading a happy mood already. It proves to me another time that the attitude of the hosts is coloring the experience. It is located just across the hotel port ciudadella that costed around 80€ at that time. Beginning of April -low season- i got a single room for 31€ (queen size bed)including breakfast. I did not miss the view, being on tour all day. A great deal. Breakfast is really offering good quality and variety. Delicious croissants. Can be heated. See pictures attached. The staff is fantastic. Circulating with three persons ( the hosts themselves!) around the buffet to keep it clean and filled and the tables fresh for the following guests.A nice view out of the sliding open windows. Sunshine in. In summer it should be great to sit outside with the view to the cliffs and the small beach below, that you access walking down a path. Super friendly and warm welcoming staff from the first to the last moments. Doing their utmost to assist at any subject! that is what i experienced. The room is clean and white and pastel colors. Full of light. The bed comfortable and dry. A real comfort plus +++ because humidity (rain) was a problem in local homes where i resided the days before. The common plastic bed protection was covered by another bed sheet so the uncomfortable feeling of cold and the noise of the plastic was NOT there. A real comfortable neck pillow assortment helped sleeping well. The extra fleece blanket was clean , nice thick quality and warm enough. Only used it one night. The heating was sufficient. Entering the hotel it was already cosy warm in the corridors. The room was cleaned and towels changed every day. The water hot. The wall attached hairdryer has low power. The shower is coming from a typical wall faucet , no handheld device. All tidy. The soap and shampoo come in small packs. Parking is in front of the hotel along the road. Walking to the old center is a stretch, at this season better take a car. Parking at the placa is available for sure and costs cents. After 8pm no charge. Restaurant open usually at 8 pm. Access to the old port over the stairs on the left with a great view (foto!)around sunset. Due to low season at eyvenings not much people in most restaurant. I liked the fishmarket a lot and all the beautiful architectural details.
I went with my friends and our children and we loved it lots of restaurants and shopping to be done also had entertainers passing giving a show. Everyone is friendly and not many cars about, however the bike lane was a bit annoying at times even though they have there own lane not everyone stays in it. The weather was lovely but the beach did get overcrowded and it hurt your feet on the sand due to lots of stones.
I was there just one night to save money before going to a fancier place and it's a good deal. 60€ via Expedia for a double bed end of September. Breakfast is pretty poor though, it would be great to up it a little bit with proper jam for example. Last but not least, you guys calculate VAT in a sneaky way. Not a big deal but only place ever I say you add VAT on top of city tax lol.. See receipt attached.
Hi - first time to Menorca, an early autumn visit, and it was excellent. Good weather, Ciutadella was a really pleasant city, and all helped by being in a great little hotel, Cala Bona & Mar Blava Hotels. The double room was very clean, as was the whole hotel, breakfast very good, the staff very courteous, friendly and helpful, and the access to and use of the sea water inlet perfect. About a 15 minute walk to the City Centre, with the very pleasant scenic route taking you via a walk by the sea to the harbour area. Recommend the hotels, the city and Menorca!
This hotel was our first stop on a 7 day biking adventure thru Menorca. We arrived by Ferry from Mallorca and were pleasantly surprised that it was only a 15 minute walk from the Ferry terminal. The hotel is situated within easy walking distance to all of the attractions in Ciutadella. The rooms were spotless, the owners/operators very friendly and helpful and being able to swim in the cove behind the hotel was outstanding. Would definitely go back again.
Stayed for 1 night in the Mar section of the hotel. Probably the friendliest and most helpful staff ever. The rooms are simple but price / quality is more than correct. Shower a bit on the small side. Breakfast provided everything necessary to start the day. Only 2** but great value for money.
A very lovely hotel situated a short walk from the town of Ciutadella. Reception Staff extremely helpful, local knowledge outstanding and friendly. housekeeping staff also friendly and the whole place was clean and fresh. Nice room with balcony looking over the inlet to the sea and one of the most comfortable beds I ever tried. Bathroom with shower, hairdryer provided and enough storage for our week. Swimming pool, although small, is adequate for exercise and a cool down. Breakfast was amazing, loads of choice and enough of everything. We were pleased to have hired a car as there is only a small beach nearby and the roads are easy to follow. There is also a bus service and the staff are happy to advise on how to get about. Our first visit to menorca and we weren’t disappointed, will definitely return and will consider this hotel again. Thank you to all the staff for a very enjoyable holiday.
Stayed for a weeks holiday. Was a bit apprehensive as it was two star, but trusted the fact that the hotel is in the top 10 hotels in Ciutadella according to TripAdvisor. Was not disappointed. Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. Good shower pressure, but runs out of hot water a bit quick. There is free WiFi, although a little slow. The TV only shows Spanish TV, but as this is a 2 star hotel, I have no complaint. No air con, but a ceiling fan, again, you have to remember this is a two star. There’s a small pool and access directly from the hotel to the cove on which is sits, where you can take a dip. Great location, as is very near to a bus stop serving plenty of nearby beaches on the same stretch of coast and is about ten minutes walk to the main square. Breakfast was continental, with the usual meat and cheese, and also including toast, cereal, yogurt etc. Small bar, so you can enjoy a drink on the terrace of an evening. There were three guys around reception/bar/breakfast, who were all lovely, and very friendly. In all, this hotel is simple, but it does simple very well. I would only say one slightly negative thing - the corridors where the rooms are can be access by anyone straight from the street. Perhaps the key entry which is used after midnight would be a good idea all day. Would definitely stay again.
We booked a weeks stay here in mid september. The hotel is about 45-50 minutes drive from the airport (we used OK Cars who were very reasonable). The hotel is in two parts and we were allocated room 13 in Cala Bona which has a balcony overlooking the sea inlet. There are not many rooms with balconies and we were quite lucky to get this room. The rooms are basic, with comfy beds and cleaned every day. There is no air con but we had a ceiling fan. The staff are friendly and helpful, there is a small bar and a pool area with limited sun loungers. There is an area where you can swim off the rocks and plenty of fish to look at. There is also a small beach at the end of the inlet (about a 3 minute walk) Breakfast is continental with boiled eggs, ham, cheese, bread, croissants, orange juice tea and coffee. It is a great location not far from the ring road, close to a large supermarket and about a 15-20 min walk into the old town. there is on road parking outside the hotel and we always managed to get a space. We would stay here again as Ciutadella is beautiful and this is a good location.
