I recently stayed at this hotel for a work conference and I am so glad we did ! Great access to the city, clean and well kept modern rooms, friendly staff and very nice food. I was very happy with my stay and will always stay at the hotel when visiting Melbourne. Thanks very much Rydges on Swanston
Lift has not worked since Saturday so You either have to walk up the fire stairs or take the goods lift by the kitchen that’s 3 days now. The bar ran out of beer on happy hour conveniently and had one tap working which was playing up. Not enough staff to clear up the glasses and mess and is generally a place worth not staying at unless you have to. Ordered muscles off the entree menu and got 4 green lipped with some sauce and a bit of bread. Still here sadly until the end of the week. Would leave if it was not convenient to my course at Uni and Lygon St which is the only reason I am still here until Friday.
My partner and I stayed for a relaxing holiday. The room was very spacious (we had a spa suite). Very clean. Close to CBD and right next to tram stop, very convenient. All staff were very helpful and welcoming especially the girls in the blues bar. I would definitely recommend.
Great location just off Lygon st. Easy walk to CBD and casino at a pinch. This Rydges maintains the standard good staff upon entry, efficiently booking in and ready to help with anything. Room very nice and well decorated. Bed comfortable but bathroom is on the tight side. It is functional but lacks surface space for anything. But hey, it’s centre of Melbourne and we can live with that. Easy walk to restaurants , breakfast in hotel is good and chef will cook your required eggs when asked. All in all great hotel , worth coming back to.
Stayed two nights in October while visiting the University of Melbourne. Walking distance to Uni and into CBD. Clean and tidy and staff very friendly. Remember to give 90mins notice if want a shuttle back to the airport.
a good hotel located in Carlton and close to Lygon Street and easy walking distance to the city. A tram stop is out the front of the hotel. Car parking is available. The hotel was good being friendly, clean and modern. The hotel offered a very good breakfast also. The room was spacious with the necessary amenities. The wifi was free and reliable.
Stayed at Rydges Swanston Street, 27/10 to 2/11 a total of six nights. On arrival there was a mixup with our booking, but was sorted out by reception staff. Everything was just perfect until I arrived back from the rugby league on the Friday night. It was about 1110 pm. I pressed the lift button stood there for a few minutes and the lift did not move from the second floor.I asked the gentleman on duty if there was a problem with the lift. To my surprise he ran past me and up the internal stairs. I followed him up to the second floor to be confronted with a punch up in one the rooms that had spilled out into the hallway. There was also a great deal of screaming and yelling. Shortly after two car loads of police arrived and escorted a male off the premises. Here’s what I don’t understand, apparently the male escorted off the premises was not even a staying at the hotel. I find it difficult to believe that anybody can walk in off the street and access any floor either via the lift or the stairs. Other than that we enjoyed our stay, the staff were more than helpful, and the service we received at the bar was outstanding, also the cleaning was at a very high standard.
The room was nice and clean, the bathroom was also clean and tidy, there is a small sitting space near the window. The breakfast is also good, located in the CBD close to anywhere, tram stops just in front of the building, if you want to eat outside from the hotels there is plenty of choices in surroundings. No way I'll be staying on top of the Melbourne CBD again when I can stay here!!
Last weekend I presented a two day course at the Rydges on Swanston. I found the customer service unbelievable and the chef (James) made me the most amazing omelette I've had at a hotel. The wonderful thing was on the second morning I was there he welcomed me by using my name and knew exactly what I wanted for my breakfast the next morning. He also prepared the meals for the 25 participants at the course and many of them commented on how good the food was. The event staff assisted in making the course an excellent experience. I highly recommend this facility for anyone in business.
We recently stayed here for business and had breakfast at the Bar and Grill for the 3 mornings we were there. James was the chef who served us the most amazing breakfast each morning. He was obliging, friendly and went the extra mile with nothing being a problem. He makes the best poached eggs I have had in a long time. Great food, great service and a great guy. We will definitely return for those breakfasts. All the staff we were in contact with during our stay were very obliging, helpful and friendly.
