My friend and I had a prepaid, status confirmed booking for this property. Upon arrival we were told we had been "moved" to a different property at another address. We were told the property we booked was sold out and that the pictures online were just "generic" anyway. This is not true, separate photos appear online for separate properties. Extremely disappointing experience. Breach of Australian consumer guarantee act regarding misleading advertising.
Great quality apartments, for business and leisure. Complimentary WiFi and Foxtel. Quality rooms with all the extras. Wouldn’t recommend for family but perfect for couples. Rooms are reasonable clean, few dirty spots as expected. Highly recommended.
We stayed for 3 nights in a 1 bedroom apartment on 173 City Road. Before we even made it to the room, we were hassled with a $500 bond that we were not warned about upon booking. The bond itself was no issue, but rather its inconvenience without forewarning. Once settled in our room, we were greeted with stained carpet, damaged bedroom curtains and walls, as well as markings on the ceiling. As we stayed the nights prior to New Years Eve 2018, we were surprised that there was no iron provided in the room. However reception pleasantly brought us an iron within 20 minutes after our request for an iron. Additionally, we noticed on our first morning, the kettle was rusted and looked as though mud had been splashed inside it. To make matters worse, after two separate requests for a new kettle, a new one was not brought to the room for several hours. Also, whilst the hotel advertised 'FREE WIFI' - this was not fully the case. The internet was faulty and would be lucky to remain connected to our devices for more than 30 seconds. We called reception to find a solution to the issue, however we were greeted with the response "I'm not sure what to do about that, I'm sorry". Rather than re-directing our call to someone more helpful, she abruptly hung up. Last but not least, the usually simple task of vacuuming some crumbs became quickly exhausting. The burnt, chemical-fuelled smell of the vacuum lingered the room for up to 20 minutes; which we would not assume healthy. We would suggest the best part of the stay was its close location to Southbank and Crown which was a wonderful escape from the room itself. :)
Our family of four (2 adults, 2yo & 5 yo) stayed at Melbourne Short Stay Apartments Southbank between Christmas and New Year 2017. The two bedroom apartment on floor 22 was spacious, clean and comfortable. A/C was available in the main living area and both bedrooms. The kitchen was well appointed and a washer and dryer available in the apartment. The location was good and a relatively easy walk to the Southbank promenade and beyond that the Melbourne CBD. Minor maintenance issues were resolved promptly. Car parking was available at a little over $20 per night. The noise levels from the streets below despite being on the 22nd floor were moderate. Note that this is an unserviced apartment so you'll have to make your own bed and take out your rubbish. We would return without hesitation.
We had a 7 night stay in a 3 bedroom apartment. Location is great. We had 3 nights we no air conditioning in a heat wave. They did not compensate us at all. They offered us to move to another apartment on day 2. We had an elderly parent who had unpacked everything and did not want to move. We were out all day and were assured a technician would be fixing it that day. Nope. Kitchen is not self contained. Not enough supplies to cook or prepare meals. Would not stay again.
We stayed in the the apartment at 241 City Road. The apartment was well maintained and clean but it was not cleaned everyday and the towels were not changed regularly. 2 bedroom apartments only had one ac in the living area and this made the rooms very hot on a hot day. To overcome this the hotel offered us fans but it was still warm. Overall the place was good but with little improvement.
5 of us stayed in a roomy 3 bed apartment for the cricket - 2 doubles(1 with own bathroom) 1 twin, family bathroom Excellent location, within walking distance of the centre and Sporting venues. Modern and clean. Nice pool gym and tennis court. From floor 31 we had a Great city view and balcony . Woolworths supermarket 10 mins down city road on left and well equipped kitchen to prepare meals. Washing machine and dryer for laundry. Parking available for 25 dollars a night.
Stayed at Southbank One in early December with Hubby and 3 kids (12, 14 & 14). It is located about 10min walk from Southbank strip / Casino etc. felt safe to walk around at night. Beds were clean and comfortable. Some of the furniture was a bit dated but in good condition. Facilities in building included an indoor pool which was utilised daily by our kids and we also used the gym. Amazing views. Would recommend.
Be sure you are aware of this establishment's early arrival policy. Ended up coming off an overnight long haul flight and having to wander around Melbourne while waiting until 2pm for the accommodation to be available is not fun. Saying that once i got checked in things picked up. The apartment was relatively spacious for a single occupant and relatively clean. Well equipped with a kitchen and had a washer/dryer in the toilet. The apartment complex is not hard to get to if you know where you're heading as it is not on the main street. Its about 15 minutes walk to the Melbourne Convention Centre with plenty of cafes along the way to pick up that morning coffee. There is a shortcut to the Crown Casino complex but this involves a dark alley. If you're driving, its worth noting that car parking is not included by the apartment.
Great location. Eeasy walk to city and Convention Centre. Convenient to food and shops. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment in Melbourne Tower. First apartment the air con didn’t work so it was very hot and dishes and cutlery weren’t clean. Maintenance came twice to fix air con but couldn’t so we moved to another apartment the next day where the air con worked. Apartment was nicer and in very good condition. The locks on the bathroom doors in both apartments either didn’t work or had no locks. Made for an interesting stay with friends with a plastic bag on the door handle showing bathroom was “Occupied”. Overall stay was very nice. Would definitely stay there again.
