My friend and I stayed four nights on the 19th floor in a modern 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment (one bedroom had an ensuite and the other room had a separate combined bathroom/laundry) nearby. It was very clean and well maintained, the beds were very comfortable (2 Queen sized), modern appliances, very spacious rooms and there was also a small balcony. Unfortunately we were overlooking a construction site so it was quite noisy in the morning. Free Wi-Fi also available in the apartments and there is also a gymnasium available. The Crown Casino is very close by and one can easily walk into town if keen, others may find it a bit far too walk but be warned taxis can take ages to travel such a short distance due to heavy traffic. It is very easy to travel for free within the city centre on the trams.
The apartment was generally comfortable and the location is convenient, a short walking distance to Crown casino. However, there are a few minuses: 1. The apartment has a musky smell. 2. During time of booking, we were given to understand that both bedrooms have ensuite toilets. The same was confirmed at time of checking-in. However, on entering the apartment, we discovered that only one room has ensuite toilet. We then called reception and the same person who confirmed to that both rooms have ensuite toilets now said that none of the apartments has ensuite toilets for all rooms. Misrepresentation, dishonesty or lying? 3. Each apartment was given only one key, which means that we have to leave and come back as a family. This is very inconvenient and impractical. 2 keys should be the norm. 4. Two small tubes of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel were given for a week's stay. Certainly insufficient for 5 persons. We had to buy additional toiletries.
Apartment is in high rise short walk from Southbank and NGV. the check in is in another building across the road and down the street. That is a bit awkward especially if you leave your luggage there when you arrive and leave. Check in was OK but inflexible even though I rang emailed etc and explained my husband was arriving before me. Aprtment was well set up and comfortable but needs more hooks etc in bathroom. Two pieces if used soap with hair stuck on it were left in bathroom. Was good value if two people stay.
I stayed 7 nights for a conference at the exhibition centre- I thought it worked well for this. Location: 200 meters from Southbank promenade. 100 meters from Crown casino 12 min walk to exhibition centre 20 min walk to Bourke st Mall (Mel CBD shopping) Supermarket across the road. The apartment is a good size (1 bedroom), it has everything you need. Dining table, lounge setting, tv, stereo, kitchen with cooking facilities, big fridge, microwave, oven. Comfy beds Good heating Pool Tennis court 3 lifts (longest wait 3 minutes) No free parking
I found the short stay complex to be completely clean, spacious with a great view, thought they could of had a spa included down where the pool was but other than that was perfect...also had one minor problem when the lift got stuck and my 7 yo thought the world was going to end lol.. beds were very comfortable, had enough of them also..
Stayed at the Lonsdale St 3 bedroom apartments. It was a very special surprise for our grand daughters 18th birthday so I made sure I let them know hoping for a high floor apartment. Sadly we were given only the 10th floor over looking tin roofs. No view what so ever at $415 night. The first night no sleep was had as loud disco music pounded our apartment till 5 am We requested another apartment but they said they were all booked However it was clean and tidy but we will look elsewhere on our next visit.
This apartment had everything that you needed for a very reasonable price. We had 2 bedroom apartment, with en suite in the main bedroom. Kitchen was well equipped, or you could order room service which was delicious. It was a 15 min walk over the river to catch the free tram around Melbourne CBD or there was a tram stop about a 5 min walk. Foodworks was a 5 min walk and had groceries and alcohol. The MCG was an easy tram ride or 35 min walk. Crown Casino was 5 min walk. The concierge was manned 24/7 and very helpful.
My husband and I visited Melbourne at the end of June 2017, I was aware that it was winter in Australia. Booked a one bedroom apartment at the Southbank Collection, direct on their website. From what I saw before booking, they have very nice looking pictures of the rooms in the property, but what I got when I checked in was different one. Was a bit disappointed, the apartment I was allocated for was the City Tower on City Rd. It was on fifteenth floor with balcony which was glass walled halfway, it is just useless for people who are scare of height, make me dizzy standing there. It was also cold, the proper heat source just come from a wall mounted air condition in the living room, but the heat it produce could not warm up the whole living area including the kitchen and bedroom. There was a small heat fan in the bedroom which we had to turn it on when we’re sleeping but it too small to warm the room up and it was noisy, it was just always cold there. Bathroom was cold as well, so when I finished showering and tried to dry myself, I was shivering, not a pleasant bathroom experience. Check in at 14:00 but check out at 10:00, so I had a housekeeping staff knocked on my door at 9:45 ready to clean the room on my last day, what??? Towels provided were a bit tired and stained. Kitchen was fine and worked well, washing machine and dryer were on the premises. Location was ok, quite a walk to reach the shopping area of Elizabeth street.
Stayed in shortstay apartment off Kavanagh St Melboune. Very nice and clean only small thing I could find on the negative side is no soap holder in the showers. For short people like me getting the coffee mugs out of high cupboard was a challenge. Everything else was very happy with.
Great apartment when visiting Melbourne. We stayed when going to watch AFL with a group of family. Great location - close enough to walk to the city but away from the hustle and bustle. The 2 bedroom apartment we had was very spacious and had all the necessities. Very clean and quiet. Bonus was the gym and tennis court. Would definitely stay again.
