We stayed for two days in this beautiful hotel with fantastic views of Croagh Patrick. Our room was a grand deluxe which was very large and very well appointed. We had a fabulous meal in La Fougere on one night that was served by very efficient staff. We also enjoyed afternoon tea, our only complaint was that after being served the food our server disappeared from the room not to return during the hour we were sitting there to ask if we would like some fresh tea. Breakfast both morning was good but not being a big fan of the full Irish I would have liked to see a far better selection of fresh fruit and fresh berries to accompany the fresh yogurt. We would definitely consider staying again when we return in the spring.

Perfect hotel when you just fancy some quiet time to relax.Great hotel situated on the edge of Westport.The restaurant is absolutely fantastic with very well trained staff and exquist food cooked to perfection. A few quiet drinks in the bar to follow with a one man band for light entertainment . Visiting the spa the following morning we were nicely surprised with a little early bird discount after having lovely massages . The staff were so friendly we didn't want to leave... I will definitely be returning here 🌟🌟🌟🌟

One of a few hotels that I have visited that I can say I will definitely be back. The location, on the outskirts of Westport is perfect but it is the hotel itself that is the main attraction. Went there with four friends to celebrate a significant birthday. Everything from the friendly and helpful staff to the fabulous food and the spacious rooms and spa left nothing to be desired. The cost, for a hotel of its calibre, was unbelievable - €99 for two nights b/b 1 dinner and afternoon tea. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Well done Knockranny.

Four of us decided to go for afternoon tea in Knockranny House Hotel early last week on Bank Holiday Monday as a well deserved treat. We were all really excited and booked a table for 3.15pm as Afternoon Tea was served from 1.30pm until 4pm daily. They advertise it as an "indulgent experience", and they say "Our creative team are continually coming up with twists on Afternoon Tea classics to surprise and delight our guests" on their website. We were not surprised or delighted. It was anything but a good experience, poor quality food and matching service prevailed and left us with a bad taste in our mouths, to pardon the pun! On our prompt arrival as per our booking at 3.10pm, we sat for 15 mins at the Dining Reception Desk before we were acknowledged and shown to our table. There was only one waiter on duty who appeared flustered the whole time we were there and he was not very welcoming as a result. After being shown to our table in the middle of a small area with 5 tables with an amazing view of Croagh Patrick and Westport, we waited another 20 mins before our order was taken. Eventually our coffees arrived - 40 mins after we arrived. Finally the food arrived ONE HOUR after our table booking. No explanation or apology was offered for the delays but it was obvious that the Afternoon Tea service and the kitchen were badly understaffed. While waiting we noticed the silverware on the table was badly tarnished and unpolished and our places were incorrectly set; we were missing knives, a fork and two plates. We asked for the missing pieces but they were so slow in coming, we ended up getting them ourselves from other tables in the dining room, as did other guests. When the food finally arrived, we were disappointed at the quality of the two trays served. The sandwiches were something that a young child could have put together rather than a four star hotel which is renowned for their dining experience, led by a notable head chef. The sandwiches were open, basic, uninventive and all on wheaten bread. The cheese fingers appeared to be a processed cheese with a quarter of a cherry tomato covered in oil obviously taken out of a jar. The rest weren't much better, but we were ready to chew our arms off at this stage as we were so hungry, so while frustrated and disappointed we ate and didn't complain as the waiter was rarely there, and it was such an effort to get his attention when he did appear, as all the other people at tables around us also wanted his attention. The petit fours looked like they were taken out of a packet. The scones and orange drizzle cake were cold and didn't appear to have been as freshly baked as the waiter later intimated. Once our table was served, the waiter did not come back to ask if we were happy, or if there was anything else we wanted. Two other tables also complained to him while we were there and he seemed to spend a lot of time going to the kitchen and disappearing for 10 mins at a time. As guests left, their tables sat uncleared. None of this created a good ambiance. The joy of the panoramic views soon wore off as the experience of Afternoon Tea became a disappointment to what the hotel's website had promised. When we finished, I went to pay and had to wait yet again for the waiter to appear. I was not asked if we enjoyed or if everything was OK with our meal. I asked him if the kitchen was under pressure due to a wedding or other event as the food took so long to come out, he seemed surprised. He said they'd a lot of walk-ins for the Afternoon Tea and so the kitchen was very busy baking extra scones etc. If that was the case, surely we would have had warm scones etc on our trays. It was a public holiday so surely additional staff should have been appointed to the kitchen and dining room. He let it drop there, not offering any apologies, or amending the bill to reflect our disappointment. The rate was 14 euro a head x 4 guests = TOTAL of €56. In terms of value, ambiance, quality of food and service it was nothing like what we expected from a 4 star hotel in Westport. What was supposed to be a treat, became a disappointing memory for my mum, dad, sister and myself. We'd have spent our money better in a local bakery or small café anywhere else in Westport. It was a big price to pay for the beautiful view of Westport and the 'holy mountain'.

We stayed in Knockranny in November, based on many previous stays at this hotel on this occasion we were very disappointed. Although the bed was very comfy and the room spacious the room location (downstairs) with the only window looking straight out at the Reception steps was a real downer - it meant that not only was there no scenic view, we also had to leave the curtains closed as visitors arriving could see straight into the room! Mealtimes also proved chaotic. We had prepaid for dinner - yet there was initial confusion over available times and then service was very poor- requests to waiter were completely ignored and there was an issue with charges; breakfast was no better- we had to wait for 30 minutes to be seated, then our breakfast order took 25 mins to arrive! guests seated beside us got the completely wrong breakfast order -again after a lengthy wait. Overall there appeared to be no competent manager in charge. Unfortunately we will be extremely reluctant to return to Knockranny as it is no longer a top class hotel as it was on previous visits.

Took a 5 night break in Knockranny House Hotel. What a fabulous place. I cannot find one negative thing to say about it!! Great big room and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Huge bed and beautiful pillows. The food in the restaurant is sublime. Fine dining at it's utmost. The staff are polite, professional and attentive without being intrusive. A worthy 4* hotel. We will certainly be returning again.

Let's start with the positives-afternoon tea in Knockranny house hotel was delicious. Sadly the initial service left a lot to be desired. I had booked a table for three people for 3pm, mid-week.. We were practically ignored for the first ten minutes as we sat expectantly in a near empty dining room.Eventually a waiter came over and asked 'if we had a booking, if so when was it made, and by whom. He seemed mystified that we were there at all and clearly had not been notified of the booking I had made. He brought over a tea pot for three with just one tea bag floating around in it. FORTY minutes later no sign of any food. I made enquiries of a passing staff member and she headed for the kitchen. Ten minutes later a selection of savouries and cakes were brought to the table. The waiter was courteous and apologetic but failed to explain the delay. As I said the food was delicious and the view from the dining room window is stunning. We did receive apologies and were only charged for two teas instead of three. However, , the initial lack of welcome and the long unexplained delay were very off-putting. All a little disappointing.

I stayed here some weeks ago. It was a mid week break. It is an excellent hotel with good food and service. The rooms were very comfortable with quality bed clothing. A lovely place to spend a few days.

Went to this Hotel for a weekend break as it offered PEACE AND TRANQUILITY. Well we arrived on the Friday and booked in.The reception area was absolutely crowded and we discovered that a wedding reception was taking place. However we went our room which was excellent,very spacious and comfortable,no problems at all. Went down for dinner and we could see and HEAR the great number of people at the reception. Wh3n we entered the restaurant we were told that everything was running late because of the appears that the restaurant had to take second billing, more delays...... Food was reasonable but the chef had little knowledge on how to cook fish otherwise nothing to write home about. Next morning the other party in our group arrived at breakfast looking washed out,it would appear that whoever had the rooms above theirs was making a real racket up to four in the morning,reported this to the manager and it resulted in a change of room. We were then told that there was another wedding reception that evening which really made our day. This too was a noisy affair but we had no option but to live with it.The one consolation was that dinner that evening was excellent....... This Hotel would be able to give you PEACE AND TRANQUILITY during the week as we were informed that they only do wedding receptions on Friday and Saturday So my advice would be plan you stay carefully...............

Sometimes you receive pleasant surprises and Knockranny hotel was one for us. After staying in many hotels around Ireland this one stood out and was half the cost of five star Dublin hotels but in our experience excelled in all departments. From checking in and having luggage taken to our room, to the room size and comfort, to the dining facilities, everything exceeded our expectations. From breakfast to dinner in La Fougere restaurant we were blown away. We could walk to Westport town within 20 minutes and car parking was extensive and free, On a Friday night the hotel hosted a huge wedding for about 360 guests but we were not disadvantaged but enjoyed the vibe. I can't congratulate the staff enough. The landscaping, the attention to detail and the ambience delivered the total package for us.
