Travaasa Hana, Maui

We are a couple who's last child just left for college. We were celebrating our anniversary. We stayed the first four days at the Maui Hyatt and then made the famous drive to Hana. We stayed four days at Travaasa. Completely different experiences but both fun. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Very relaxing and private feeling. Not touristy at all, how I imagine all of Hawaii used to be. Central location in town so we were able to walk easily to everything. It was Aloha week when we were there (Oct). Each night there was a different celebration in the school park behind the resort. We would wander down and buy some of the food and listen to the music. Many hiking places nearby. No air conditioning in our room but the ceiling fans and breeze were enough to keep us comfortable. Hana does not have a lot of restaurants but there are opportunities to have roadside bbq etc. I will definitely go back to Travaasa!

Beautiful location. Iffy waitstaff in the restaurant. The Spa is amazing. When I was there there was a horrible storm. It would have been nice to have a television in the bungalow.

I was not aware that a "garden view" room was not the bungalow-style room that I thought I was booked. I knew the rooms were not air-conditioned but assumed do to the proximity of the ocean that air was not needed. WRONG!! When we initially entered the room it was unbearably hot. My whole family was sweating within 5 minutes despite having all possible windows/doors opened. I went to the front desk to inquire about paying for an upgrade to a room closer to the ocean (which I assumed would be cooler) and was told that since they weren't able to see what I had paid for my room, they weren't able to tell me how much it would be to upgrade. What?!? Then they said there were no ocean view rooms available, even though the resort seemed pretty empty. So, we stuck it out in the garden view room, which was extremely uncomfortable, for two nights. They did bring us a fan but it was completely inadequate to cool the room. This was a very nice resort, EXCELLENT staff, but our overall impression of the property was ruined because we were just so miserably hot. In addition to that, the screened doors did not close properly and allowed bugs in, so we were all covered with mosquito bites by the time we left. Obviously I can't recommend the garden view rooms, but I think if we had booked an ocean view it would have been a more pleasant stay.

Open Hot tub closed spa empty but not allowed in. Mattress way too soft, room hard to control temperature and privacy.. Overall low value for money

We loved everything about Traavasa Hana. It was exquisite and we kept noting how we would stay here over a formal large luxury hotel chain any day.

I would highly recommend a couple nights in Travaasa! We drove the Road to Hana and this was the perfect retreat at the end of the journey. The staff is so friendly, and the resort is absolutely breathtaking. There are amazing activities including Lei-making with local flowers that you collect on the grounds, and incredible amenities. The room was spacious and serene. A must stay!

I had a very bad experience in the restaurant of this hotel . This hotel is situated at a place where very few dining options are available, at a remote Maui location away from the city. We reached there feeling excited about the awesome looking property with picture perfect views and lawns. We were surprised to see freshly cooked food straight from the kitchen being kept next to a thrash bin ready to be served to the guests, with flies kissing and tasting the food. I bought that to the notice of the waitress who did not seem to care . Went up to the front desk and complained to the restaurant manager who was apologetic . Attaching pics of the fly kissed food next to the thrash. Room wise : No AC which is sad. Pools look awesome , the setting is great. Beach : Awesome. Staff : Polite.

This is like going on your honeymoon all over again. Travaasa is a delightful get away. After your journey down the road to Hana, there is a delightful hotel with all the touches to make a great vacation.

great place if you want a one-week or longer vacation here in Hana. Too luxury for us since we only want one night relaxing after Hana drive ...

Absolutely wonderful!!!! From the time of our arrival to the time of departure, the staff at the Travaasa were fabulous. They made you feel like family rather than a tourist. From their hugs, kind words and their laughgter, they were absolutely wonderful! The accomodations at the sea side cottages were absolutely beautiful!!! Beautiful breath taking view of the ocean and shoreline. The great romantic get-away to experience "old Hawaii."

+ : Nice location, nice room, quiet and peaceful - : 18% service fee extra, limited dinner choices (Christmas week)

First class hotel - met all of our expectations. It was clean and quiet. The cottage was very open and bright. Left the windows open and could hear the ocean and rain at night - a true Hawaiian experience. Great views and friendly service.
