Due to this hotel being really cheap and some not so good reviews i was very apprehensive over this holiday which was last minute. How wrong could i be ! the hotel was lovely, the rooms clean and spacious ( doors creaked a bit ) but it is two single beds pushed together which isn't ideal but not a major issue. Air con is not very strong but if you leave it on all day the room is nice and cool after a day around the pool. Food was good, typical all inclusive but fresh and hot, some of the tagines on offer in the buffet were amazing. We never tried the Moroccan restaurant but were told it was great, pool area had plenty of beds but my husband is always up early anyway so we had no issues, its quite quiet of a night unless you go to the shows which were on daily, we preferred the lobby bar where you could relax in the cool air con. Wifi only works in the lobby and bar area. Staff were lovely in all areas everyone had a smile and were happy to help, i also loved the fact the Chef asked people to leave the restaurant to get dressed if inappropriately attired ( wet swimming costumes no top etc ) All in all a great week we are thinking of going back in November.
Arrived in reception and were greeted by a drink each, check in took a fairly long time but nothing too unreasonable considering the amount of people checking in at the same time as us. When we arrived at the room all seemed very clean and spacious enough for 2 people. Only downsides to the room was that they do not offer a double room, instead 2 single beds pushed together, however with the heat it was possibly too hot to share a bed anyway. A duvet was provided in mid July which was way too hot to sleep under and no top sheet so ended up sleeping uncovered most nights. Air conditioning NEEDS a serious upgrade as was highly highly ineffective, not ideal in near 50° heat! Pool was very nice, however if you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday may be too much going on. Restaurant food was okay but sometimes slightly limited. They do always provide a plain sort of option like bolognese etc. Recommend trying the a la carter restaurant at least once. All the restaurant staff are so accommodating and friendly cannot praise them enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The one thing that I would really recommend is taking enough cash with you to last the duration. DO NOT USE THE HOTEL CASH MACHINE. I used it as had ran out of cash and the machine swallowed my card, someone from the bank comes around on a Monday and Friday to empty the machine of all swallowed cards and they will be posted back to your country of residence, "usually". Drinks did seem very weak with tiny measures of spirits, can't imagine it would be at all easy to get drunk if that is what you're going for. Other than this a lovely holiday and would be more than happy returning.
Have just returned from a weeks holiday went with my husband and 16 year old son the hotel is kept very clean and tidy the hotel is set in beautiful gardens we had amazing weather far to hot for me so bare in mind if u have very small children we were told it got to 52 degrees at least twice while we were there. The staff were so friendly and could not do enough for us.. the main restaurant which served breakfast and dinner were ok always hot and fresh but very repetitive and some days I found it hard to find something I liked ( ice cream was amazing tho) just wanted to mention are waiter (Mohamed) what a great guy always knew what drinks we wanted and made us very welcome. Poolside bar was a bit disappointing but ok. Pool was lovely very clean and inviting only downside was u had to hand the pool towels in at 5 and if u didn't then u didn't get clean towels for the next day I tried once and got a mouth full of abuse for not handing them in and was told I could not have clean towels.. I did in the end after demanding he change my towels, the pool closes at 7.30pm so the towel place should stay open in till that time makes u feel u have to leave the pool area at 5pm which when it's 40 odd degrees u don't want to.. Animation team were lovely don't push u to much and leave u in peace most of the time. Room was cleaned ever day but bedding was not changed once while we were there which was disappointing, air conditioning was not good anywhere in the hotel or rooms and needs to be sorted out.. the Zanzibar was the coolest place and spent most evenings in there.. the vodka was watered down and the staff were giving out not even single measures I could not not taste the vodka at all!! We were told by another couple we meet that they were tipping the waiters to get full measures (not good) didn't get drunk once. Over all tho I would recommend for people to stay here we had a lovely relaxing holiday with great staff and weather.
We have, this morning, just returned from a weeks holiday staying at this hotel. We were a small family which included myself, husband, our two daughters and our 11 month grandson. The hotel is kept very clean by its lovely staff the gardens are well maintained and the pool and the surrounding areas are kept clean by the pool staff. The animation team are very friendly and helpful and not at all pushy for youth join in their activities. The other guests at this hotel were mixed ages and all were very friendly. The restaurant/s are kept clean and the food served is of good quality and hot, however we felt that it was very repetitive. The Moroccan restaurant which you need to book is worth a visit and the lamb and chicken tagines served are lovely. The only downsides to this hotel are the bedrooms are looking a bit tired and the air conditioning system within the bedrooms and all public areas is very poor, which in the height of summer is ridiculous, the coolest place to sit was the Zanzibar. There are plenty of sun beds but although there were a lot of parasols I personally think they could do with more as temperatures were reaching 47 degrees (so I was informed). Overall it was a lovely clean comfortable hotel with wonderful staff and decent food and drink.
My partner and I just returned from 1 week away at the Riu Tikida Garden. The weather was really hot the temperature was up to around 45. The mornings are cooler, then by the afternoon you really feel the dry heat. The Spa is average and there was a mixed reviews from the guests. I really enjoyed my massaged but my partner didn't like his. I highly recommend that you have the full traditional scrub either at the hotel or ask the rep for where the local traditional spa is. Do this before you sunbathe. There are plenty of sun beds but if you want one by the pool, get there early (8am) - pop your towel down to secure your location. The food was average, some days there was plenty to eat and others I was a little disappointed. Plenty of salads, meats, rice, cous cous, chick peas, veg... We were really happy what we got. We got a really good deal on first choice and we met some really lovely people. The grounds are pretty, the staff are friendly and the trips that on offer were also good - We did Marrakech By Night. It was wonderful.
We stayed in this hotel from 7th to 14th July in room 301, we paid £367 per person. Day two we heard a gurgling noise coming from our toilet. We went to check on it and discovered it was backing up and flooding. We reported it to reception, they sent someone to come and have a look. Someone started to clear the drains and the room was cleaned. After being advised the problem was fixed, the next day we went for breakfast. We come back to the room, before we opened the door we saw water coming down the hallway with an awful smell. We opened our door and found the toilet has backed up and there is human waste all over our room which has in hand gone over our belongings. Absolutely disguisting. We reported this straight to reception and was told to go and pack our belongings. We was wearing sandals so this obviously wasn't ideal but we had no option as we had to move rooms and needed to ensure all our things were packed. After packing our things, we were taken to a new room by the rep. We met some girls we spoke to who had to move rooms due to a cockroach problem. The room the rep was relocating us to was next door to the room. I advised him of this but was told the room was good. We asked the Rep to come with us and check it. I thought I saw something on his top, next thing you know a cockroach is climbing up his neck, he screamed and brushed it off and advised us this was on its own. My partner then shook the curtain and another come out. The rep then walked us out to find another room. We were then put in room 250 which was okay however the air conditioning wasn't working so the room was very hot. We were advised our luggage was being bought over to us by the porter, we headed for the souk and when we returned our luggage still wasn't there. We called reception and in total it took 6 hours. This problem delayed our trip to the souk and then a further delay getting to the pool when we got back. Overall..... Cheap holiday most certainly not a 4* hotel that is crazy talk. Men that work there extremely Pervy. Thomson rep was rude throughout holiday once we complained. Food wasn't very good, snack bar only offered chips or pancakes or terrible toasted sandwich. Worst aqua gym I've ever came across. Worst animation team, every evening entertainment was awful. Drinks was almost non alcoholic it tasted watered down. ONLY good point was the weather and sun beds always available. Please avoid I can't stress that enough. You will think your getting a good deal coz of the price. Please please please believe me it's not worth it.
I can't fault this hotel. The room was clean and modern. The staff were friendly. The waiters made the most amazing cocktails. If you enjoy poolside entertainment daily where you can relax sunbathe and chill this is for you. Would definitely return. Thank you
Me & a friend visited the hotel from 3-10th July 2017. The hotel was great, traditional Moroccan vibes. The lobby was okay and a security guard was at the door at all times which made us feel a tad safer seeing as literally outside the hotel ground, it's pure slums and poverty. The pool is great. Kids stick to the shallow end which was preferred as we didn't really want to be disturbed. For a 4* hotel I expected the sun loungers to be a tad better but hey ho, nothing major. The pool bar staff were miserable. Felt uncomfortable asking for alcohol as they clearly don't drink themselves. The snack bar was just bad. Very, bad. No variety. Most donuts and chips. The restaurant staff were amazing, very attentive, polite and friendly. The food wasn't to our taste. However, that's our personal preference - there was a variety however not much. We mostly ate chips and lamb chops. The entertainment was quite bad. The African show was great, as was the Moroccan show. The animation team really do try their best but there's only so much they can do. The show warm up routine was the same thing every single night and got quite boring. We didn't go back to it for the last 3/4 nights. The hotel need to seriously focus on the entertainment and maybe spend some more money on it as it was quite bad. If your going off site make sure you agree a price for a cab before getting in as they. Would recommend the famous market, it's ridiculously busy and felt quite unsafe. We had a lot of children pulling our shirts/clothing begging for money. We had to leave early to avoid that. Hotel room was nice, small. Cleaners were great and tidied everything daily which is nice. The weather was amazing. Between 35-40 degrees all week. Can't complain. Overall. Had a great chilled out holiday. But the hotel needs a serious re-vamp/think with some certain things. I would go back to Morocco but unfortunately, not Tikida Gardens.
I have just returned from a very hot week in Marrakesh with my parents and brother. We all got together to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday. The hotel was fantastic considering the price we had paid for a week all inclusive. The food was to a very high standard for an all inclusive resort and praise should be given especially to the pastry and dessert chef! Bitesize Lemon meringues and chocolate ganache cups have to be the winners of the week! Savoury wise there was a range of food that everyone could enjoy and also something new to try, such as local Tagine dishes and mint tea. The only downside to the catering was that when we attended the al a carte Moroccan restaurant we wanted to celebrate my brothers birthday as we were all together. Unfortunately they would not do anything special as it was not his actual birthday that day and they went to reception to retrieve our guest information to say it's not that day we cannot do anything. Even after explaining that we all live in different parts of Britain and this week was the only week we could get together to celebrate, still we couldn't have any special touches to our meal. The bedrooms were always cleaned beautifully and fresh flower petals scattered on mine and my mums beds. The only downside to the room is that the air conditioning is not the greatest so sometimes it was too hot in the room. The entertainment team were pleasant and always encouraged people to join in but were never forceful. Myself and my mum enjoyed going to the Arabic lesson and the aqua aerobics. If you wanted to be doing something all the time instead of just relaxing by the pool there was always activities in the morning and afternoon for you to participate in. The gardens of the hotel were maintained beautifully and to walk around the hotel on an evening was a pleasure. Lots of wildlife including lizards, tortoises and Marbrook the hotel donkey which we visited every day to give him an apple! The gardening lady was very friendly and picked us some limes of the tree to smell. It was wonderful to see oranges, limes, apricots and olives growing and all the different types of cactus and palms. Dusk was the best time of the day to walk around the grounds as that is when the bats come out to play! They were so quick I couldn't get chance to video or take a picture. The hotel provides a shuttle bus into Marrakesh, however in the heat it is a very long walk from the bus stop to the main medina in the old city. If you are going on any trips like we did. We said at the end that we would not get the bus back and get a taxi as the city tours of Marrakesh always end close by to medina and souuks. I would recommend a taxi ride in Marrakesh as they have no rules of the road! You think will I get back in one piece! Be very careful when crossing the road, even at pedestrian crossings no one would stop! We enjoyed to see the hustle and bustle of the city to experience a completely different culture and way of life. Have your wits about you in the medina, pick pocketing is quite common. Don't where lots of jewellery and keep bags close to yourself. If people ask you to take pictures they expect money which we were not aware and a man from the snake charming group was quite rude and aggressive. Overall we throughly enjoyed our time in Riu Tikida Gardens and will definitely return!
Stayed here with a friend in November 2015 all inclusive. Got a late deal with Thomson only paid £250 for the week including flights. The hotel its self is very nice everything tidy and well maintained. The pool area is very good but the pool is freezing it may due to the time of year we went. The food was nice and a good choice at lunch dinner and breakfast. The drinks were also very good. The room itself clean and tidy and everything you needed for the week. The animation team work hard to keep you entertained and work hard to put the shows on in the evening. we did not venture out the hotel so cant comment on that. Overall a very good week in the sun and i would visit again.
