Riu Tikida Garden - All Inclusive4.0 out of 5.0

Always worried about the honesty of reviews like this but having stayed at neigbouring Riu hotel (The Tikida Palmaraie TP) the ratings of 4 for TG and 4.5 for TP are spot on. Dont get me wrong the T Garden is great but on balance I just prefer the TP. Like the TP it is spotlessly clean, the staff are excellent and it has wonderful gardens, The food is varied and to a consistent high quality and standard.. But maybe because it is smaller in ground size the pool area seems tighter and more crowded and the space overall generally less. The rooms are great, spacious, warm, and the beds comfy as well as fresh towels being provided every day. The TV screen is like a laptop, and limited channels is a bit odd in this day and age, but come on who goes to watch telly? Ents team were less proactive and only half as good as palmaraie but these not serious problems and probably reflect the minor difference in reviews. Only real concern was no warning in bathroom about extreme hot water temperatures. Even if you get the temp right a room above (three floors in each block) can affect it suddenly and you could suffer. Overall though I would whole heartedly recommend it as a hotel and happily go back. An ideal base to explore Marrakech ( free shuttle into town and back) and if you dont fancy that the gardens are beautiful. A near perfect sun trap and with temperatures averaging around 26 while there a perfect place to lie down and enjoy life, Reduced hours for indoor pool and gym from november to march but both are great facilities. Overall it was exactly what I hoped for, had expected and I enjoyed every minute of a great week.
Nice large room, kept clean Lovely gardens and surroundings Nice mixture of moroccan and other european foods Large, clean pool but a bit cold, but there is an indoor pool too Gym okay, free to use in the evenings, also tennis courts, badminton court and french boules courts. Friendly waiters and staff It wasn't luxurious, but very good value for the price we paid, close to the airport and 15 mins from town by taxi
I'm sorry but people who complain about this hotel have got nothing better to do, saying about leaving a week early cause they would rather be home that's pathetic, this hotel offers everything you need and want for a break, staff are amazing and food is of good variety, good entertainment for the night and day the only downfall is that the drinks are watered down so a bit hard to get very merry but don't forget this is a dry country so alcohol isn't a major thing there. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!
Excellent visit, and cannot credit the staff enough with how attentive they were during the whole trip. Would definitely visit again. The food options were varied and changed daily. Everything was clean and tidy, and the surroundings are beautiful
Staff were fantastic the hotel was beautiful. Food was amazing and there was always plenty to choose from. Entertainment staff were brilliant always engaging with every one but if you didn’t want to join in they were great and left you to relax. Would go back tomorrow.
This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We booked in a hurry after our original holiday to Antigua was cancelled due to Hurricane Irma. Thinking it was a Riu it would be fine. It was not. We arrived at 4am to one person in reception checking in 30+ guests single handed. Warm bottled water was given to take to the room. Drinks were watered down so much that you could not even get merry! The room was old and tired. The towels were thread bare and grey (off - white) but not by design. The pool was packed like sardines in a tin with beds being reserved from 7.00am despite paperwork saying not to do until 8am. The food was limited and my husband got food poisoning. The gym was a joke, the owner studied anyone who entered as a potential thief and made you feel very uncomfortable. The entertainment was not good either. Just a poor poor experience. We flew home a week early at additional cost as would rather be at home! This is not a Riu standard so do not be fooled!
The room was relatively clean, with the exception of a dirty- and definitely used- plastic cup abandoned on the side, and there was enough space around the pool to catch some rays. The food was good while we were there, though I didn’t feel like there was a great deal of choice, and the drinks on offer went down a treat! However, having also stayed at the ClubHotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie, I’d be more inclined to book to go there next time, as opposed to revisiting the Garden.
I came here in Feb half term with my 10 year old daughter with Tui on a last minute deal and we both loved it so much we came back independently for 5 nights Oct half term. We also did 3 nights in a riad in the old city and a 4 day Berber villages trek so it was wonderfully blissful to return here and find the same incredibly friendly staff, great food and comfortable bedrooms. Fouad and Seddik on Reception are a great credit to this hotel and really make you want to return because they are always happy and helpful. This time I also used to Spa doing the welcome deal of a hammam and 25 mins massage for £30 approx. Amal on their reception was also very friendly and helpful and the hamman and massage were very good. We ate again in the Moroccan restaurant and the lemon chicken tagine is something I am still dreaming of back here in the UK! The animation team are brilliant and I really enjoyed morning stretch class in the shade of trees in the beautiful extensive gardens. My daughter found about 10 tortoises including babies so was very pleased. This hotel attracts a great mix of travelers - lots of different nationalities including Moroccan in any combination - solo, families, gay couples - so there were always interesting people to chat to over a coffee under the big green sunshades on the comfy sofas. If you monitor the prices online you can get a reasonable price around 4 months before you go I found. A taxi to the airport was a fixed price on 150 dirhams and we arranged our pickup with a taxi driver we used a couple of days before. For the riad we got an airport bus to the city for 30 dirhams. So all very easy if you do like to be independent. Love this hotel. It has everything for a relaxing, enjoyable, low key holiday including table tennis! Plus the weather was 33 degrees every day...
The food was absolutely incredible. The staff and service were faultless and the range/variety of food meant there was something for everyone. This was my first all-inclusive experience and I have been truly spoilt! The day time entertainment was plentiful with a full day timetable of activities including Yoga & Stretching, Aqua Aerobics, Arabic Classes etc... Again, there was something for everyone and it gave guests the opportunity to keep active whilst on holiday should they wish to do so. The pool was big and sunbeds were plentiful. The hotel ran a free shuttle bus service into the city. As a party of three young blonde women, I would also like to point out we felt safe at all times. There are a few polishing points however... The reception desk only offers currency exchange from Sterling to Dirham, NOT vice versa. As Dirham is a closed currency and guests can't exchange it once back in the UK, this meant we had to rely on lower standard exchange rates at the airport. I believe this is a service that should be offered by the hotel resort. As a gym user, it would be worthwhile for the gym to install air-con and most importantly a water station. Finally, with the exception of the African Night and the Moroccan Night, the evening entertainment was poor. Overall, a very enjoyable holiday. It was good value for money and I would recommend this hotel.
OK, so turning up at 11.30pm to find you've been allocated a room next to the resident hotel rabble rousers who want to stay up drinking all night and playing music, is not the best start to a family holiday. But the hotel were brilliant and pounced straight onto the offending miscreants, then re-allocated us a room elsewhere the next morning so we could forget about the first night stresses. Very little to fault here. All the postings about finding it hard to get sun loungers just seem far fetched. At 09.15am during half term week, about 40% of sunbeds were still free. Never queued for more than two minutes to get a drink at the bar, never ever queued to get into a restaurant, hardly any queues on any of the food stations. All the staff were fantastic, no stress-head waiters charging round the buffet with clattering trollies and plates ordering each other about, it was just so calm and relaxed, with minimum fuss. Rooms were of a basic decor but a good size, very comfortable beds and very clean. We liked block 5 level 1 even (as opposed to odd) higher numbers e.g. 5124, 5136 etc as these were not facing other rooms and were further away from the pool. The hotel are so cool about letting you have full access to food and drink at all times on the all inclusive, so if you arrived early morning and left late evening for a seven night stay- you'd get eight days of food. Most other hotels don't let you do this or want to charge, this hotel doesn't mind. So after a poor start, it turned into a super stress free holiday, excellent value, and the only observations we have which might bring further benefits, would be to have an archetypal omelette chef at breakfast (not been to a hotel abroad for 10+ years which hasn't had an omelette chef serving bespoke omelettes, so it seemed very odd not to have one), a couple of extra table tennis tables and crank the heating up by two degrees on the main pool. We have already booked for next year.
